They reached the view tower in a few minutes by Caleb's car. Seemed like the tower was nearby as he had said.
It was a tall tower with glass windows, where you could reach the top floor from the elevator.
" Whoa...this tower is tall!" she observed the tower with awe. It was her first time in this part of the city. Everything looked so expensive and lavish. Who knew this part of the city could be so splendid.
Caleb let her follow him as they entered its huge glass door. She was still looking around its interior with amazement. This tower was a work of the most influential designers. It would obviously be amazing.
" Are you done, wish?" he asked amused by her act. She was still gawking at the interior and instantly caught up with him at the front.
They finally entered the elevator that was going to the top floor. The most important part of it. Its top floor showed the view of the entire city.
She excitedly looked out of the glass elevators. It slowly went upwards so that they could observe the view to their fullest. Wish was still staring at the view silently. The view could make anybody feel at peace and the same was happening to her. The crowded thoughts of her recent days was no more disturbing her. It really was peaceful.
On the other hand, Caleb was glad that she liked the tower and the view. He remembered how she was uncomfortable just back in the restaurant few hours ago. It was very clear to him that she didnt like the atmosphere there at all. Just like him. He hated those places even he was raised in it. It wasnt his type at all. Everybody are so tense and pretentious in those high class restaurant, its suffocating.
He could understand her feeling. So, he made this unexpected plan. Whats wrong with getting away for a day right?
" I come here everytime i want to escape and relief my stress." he stood by her, gazing at the view too. The elevator was still going up slowly and the peaceful silence was healing.
" You guys must be having stressful days every week..." she told, " The business world is always so stuffy."
Caleb still didn't understand why Wish always talked like she didnt belong to this world like him. She always told relatable things which none other in this world of his talked about. This was the reason why he felt warm and comfortable around her even though they met only few times. And this was extremely rare for someone like him.
" Do you hate it too?" the words came out of his mouth unintentionally.
Wish thought for sometime, answering, " I dont hate it..."
Caleb turned to her as he was expecting her to say yes like him.
" But..." she continued, " i wish the people would be more relaxed and not always so pretentious. They are always using so much energy to impress others, its stuffy you know?" she glanced at him, shrugging.
Caleb was surprised at first but he chuckled hearing her answer. She was again being relatable. This girl was always so amusing.
They finally reached the top floor. It was spectacular as expected.
" Holy!!" she ran to the edge of the tower. The view of the whole city was on another level. " Wow...." she gasped, staring down.
Caleb joined her, smiling by her shocked expression. He turned to say something but her face at the moment caught him off guard. She looked so genuinely happy, it made her look completely different.
The cool wind was blowing her long hair, exposing her side profile. She had the most beautiful jawline with a perfect nose and she was smiling on top of that, her soft cheeks peeking up.
Unintentionally his eyes were locked on her face, like the time had stopped. Everything was happening in slow motion, it felt like a movie scene.
" I want to ask you something." she said breaking his thoughts as he shook his head, looking at the view instantly. What was happening?
" Ask me? go on..."
" Well..." she tilted her head, " why are you and brent in bad terms? You two are always so tensed together."
" Do you really wanna know?" he spoke like it was a warning.
Wish stared at him but eventually nodded.
" We were bestfriends when we were 14 or something..." he spoke, taking Wish by surprise. Bestfriends? yeah totally unexpected. " but it wasnt just us two."
She looked up curious.
" Along with us was a girl named Julie...." he stopped for a second, ".....she was a mute girl."
Huh? Wish felt like she had heard it before.
" Julie was like my small sister. I cared a lot about her. One day i realised that she had feelings for Brent. And that arrogant jerk didnt give two shits about her feelings and always shrugged her off...." he was clenching his fist.
" Oh...." she blankly stared at the city, remembering where she had heard it, " That....was the reason why veronica was upset with him." so it was related with Caleb.
" You know about it already?"
" Hmm...kind of. But i still want to hear from your perspective." she urged him to go on.
He didnt ask any further and continued, " She was having serious health problems and it looked like she would actually....not make it through her treatment..." the memories were hurting him more than he had expected, " Her only wish was to meet brent for the last time and that jerk....he didnt even come...then Julie died just like that, hurting till the end. It made me seriously mad so we both stopped talking." he finished the story.
She nodded, imagining the girl named Julie. How she might have looked, what was her personality like and what might have went through her last minutes. Her heart ached feeling for the girl. She must have felt terrible.
"i still have a picture, you wanna see?"
"Of course!" it was like he had read her mind.
He pulled his phone out, showing her the picture. It was the three of them smiling happily at the camera. Julie was very pretty with auburn coloured hair and light freckles. She also looked kind and smart. She looked like someone who would be friends with everybody. " She is pretty."
Caleb nodded, a sad aura filling the air. It was getting darker now by seconds, as the sun set throwing reddish hue over the sky. " I know right."
" Hmmph..." she breathed in the clear air, trying to control her tears. Even though she never met Julie and wouldnt get the chance to meet her ever, it still hurt her heart.
" Im sorry for making the atmosphere sad." Caleb spoke noticing her expression.
" Its okay. At least now i know what happened between you two."
They stayed there in silence, breathing in the clear air and staring at the lovely night view. Life felt different up here.
" Wish...." he spoke breaking the silence, " I have a question to ask too."
" Go on..."
" Why do you always talk like you dont belong to a wealthy family?"
The question took her off guard. She had never expected him to notice it. " Do you wanna know why?"
This time it felt like she was giving a warning. He nodded along.
" I am actually...."
ring ring ring ring.
The phone startled both of them. It was from Wish's phone and the caller id was none other than:
William Brent
She received it and was immediately greeted by his low voice.
" Are you still with Caleb?"
