Julian, who had been silent all this time, looked at Maxwell with an unreadable expression.
"I can't go with you," he replied shortly. "I have business to take care of."
Maxwell frowned. "What business?" he asked curiously.
Julian shook his head. "It's none of your concern," he replied coldly. "You and Qiara just go. You're safe there."
"But..." Maxwell wanted to say something, but Julian had already turned and ran away.
Maxwell stood there, watching Julian's back disappear behind the cars. He felt that something was off, but he couldn't be sure what it was.
"Julian," he called out, "wait!"
But Julian didn't look back. He kept running, as if he wanted to disappear.
Maxwell sighed. He knew that he had to trust Julian's decision.
"Alright," he muttered. "We're going to my place."
