Jak looked at the site where most of the development was going. Most of the hub that was meant for Aured was delivered and lately they were having no trouble in targeting the routes. A new arrival came from Aured where it was filled with Outriders who fought nail and tooth.
Airships and flyers were not useful because of their inability to find their targets on the wetlands. Though Aured have orb-drones that maps out the land. They rarely make use of them outside of recon. With the satellite active, there was ground images of where these heavily infested places are. Aured have been able to accurately target these creature from afar. Though the beluas have the ability to shoot down from range. They could not shoot down simultaneous attacks. A rain of artillery and the constant bombardment started clearing these places.
Jak found it as a big joke how the world could change so much just because of a floating object out in the sky. A relic of the ancient that was turning the world of mankind a place where there might be hope.
With these bombardments and artillery strikes. Most of the Outriders had an advantage they could not discern. And through these advantages that they have started finding the bastion-forts of humanity where they could find old relics. Though there were plans to launch orbit satellites. It was ultimately postponed by Aured for reason that they could not do it with the conditions of the Wetlands proving to be unfit for launches.
Aured City was not a place where the leaders were generous to hand over resources for the sake of none. Jak thought that maybe they have become generous, but changed the moment he saw those boosters and supplies coming to Greensea City. The amount of wealth spent on fortifying Greensea was baffling. Even the Ghosts being sent to watch the area was a telltale sign that they see it fit that they would use this land to launch the rockets up to the sky. From the shared databanks that they recently acquired from the technology of the Greensea locals. It seems that they were going use an old design to throw their own satellites into orbit. Not to mention that the study of the satellite being used would cause them to complete and update their satellites. Though inferior compared to the satellite that has lasted for decades up in the orbit.
That satellite would provide a unique advantage that it wasn't stationary lie the satellite.
Though Helga had said to Jak that they would sending more men in Greensea. He certainly didn't think that there would be a Talos Machina sent with them. What surprised Jak more than the Talos Machina was the Crawlers of the Recon Korps accompanying the Talos Machina.
Over where he was sitting, he could catch a glance of the giant plodding through the thick forest and trampling whatever was on their path. The crawler and the Talos Machina was being directed far from the city instead of the usual place. Though Jak was sure that this journey was planned. He didn't think they would arrive so early in Greensea.
Then again the markings on the side made it clear the crawler belonged to the Commander of the Recon Korps. Stan Blackwells and his right hand, Anastasia. The appearance of this giant of a machine caused quite a stir. A mobile fortress was nothing much compared to an airship carrier. Thankfully, they don't have to witness the sight of that beast for now.
With the arrival of the mobile fortress. Jak and Yuki welcomed the Recon Korps by the orders of the Captain. Though there were many etherians among the crew of the crawler. Jak was welcomed onboard. Yuki walked beside him and said.
"You really did put quite the fear on them. None of the etherians would look down you, Jakob."
Jak didn't reply. He continued walking until he found Commander Blackwells with his buster sword hanging on his back. Anastasia turned around first. Commander Blackwells followed and sized up Jak.
"I've to thank you for helping us that time, Ghost of Kairaht. Haven had sent me some intriguing information about you."
"You're in contact with Haven?" Jak asked.
"A woman named Helga offered her services. In return, we would supply them with ether, and at the time have a veto on the ether-forges that you people have been making. It seems that this was your design, Ghost."
"It was. Are you going to be supplied with ether-force as well?"
Commander Stand Blackwells pulled the buster sword and lifted it with one hand. He pressed on his buster sword and let his ether flow through it.
"We don't need the other parts, but this is enough to make us deadlier. I don't know what Helga is thinking, giving us this power, but I guess she is more of a business woman than someone who cares about human and etherian politics, eh."
"I don't need to tell you my role, Commander." Jak pointed at the silos that they carried. "That their boosters?"
"It is. We will do the heavy lifting. The Talos Machina will provide heavy cover. We will find these beluas and clear the rest. I heard from the reports that there are other creatures. Do you think my men will have trouble?"
"They weaker than some beluas, no need to hold back."
"Then I'll have them butchered," Command Stan Blackwells looked at the sea. "Never seen anything like it."
"You'll be tired of it soon enough, Commander. For now, I shall return to my watch."
"Go," Commander Stan said.
As Jak started walking away from the Commander. He saw a figure that made him froze for a second. Then, biting his lips, he let time slow down for him. He watched Miss Mei Ya's movement, her smile, and the way she slowly looked to his direction.
Shaking his head. He deactivated his bullet time. Feeling the fatigue freezing him for a second. He gave a pitiful smile inside his helmet. It was so easy to give up about it and yet when faced with it.
He could only hear his heart ache. "How foolish," Jakob thought. He walked away from the crawler, trying to suppress that affection crawling from the pits of his heart.
