Chapter 19 - Ballet of Death 2

She walks into the oval stadium with arms spread to her audience. The darkened seats twinkled with flashes as she walks under that spotlight.

The zeal of the crowd crawls into his skin. The clapping and the stomping made him question if this was still Aured City. The days he stood on the wetlands. Here he was standing in a stage where he wasn't supposed to stand.

"My lovelies," Miss Ursula shouts. Her voice was like sweet honey turned into the form of sound. The crowd roars as Miss Ursula starts dancing risque moves.

Jakob recalled that her etherian ability was that of a siren's voice. Through the sounds, she emits she could produce an effect that stimulates the electrons inside the human body. Although Jakob felt none of that effect, he wonders if only because she was still not at the level where she could break the mind of a belua through her songs.

As the beats continue, Jakob stood sharply. His hand on his baton as he keeps an eye on the crowd. Gaul stood not far from Jakob, his hands on his vibrant blade. From the radio chatter, the constant did annoy Jakob.

Standing silently in the dark, Jakob casts his glare silently on the Miss.

The stage was hers to sing with as she walks around with that loose silver dress of hers. Her blue hair danced along with her, her breasts oscillating as she did a pirouette. Her long legs move with the beat of her song.

Then the music comes to a sudden halt. Silence came to the stadium as the lights disappeared. Jakob looked up, his eyes on the podium that elevated her.

Languid and smoky. Jakob quivered, hearing her voice spread all over the stadium. Standing tall, pinching his arm to alert himself. Jakob continued standing tall while the rest of the guards started staring at the Miss. Jakob resisted the effects of her song. His heart beats loudly against his wish.

"I would have been lost as well. No wonder there was a tragedy that happened here," Jakob said. "The Tragedy of the Eresita Stadium. Tsk, no wonder they wanted someone who could resist an etherian here."

Even Gaul could not resist the siren-like song of the Miss. The crowd's eerie silence and inability to make a sound as if they were in a trance made Jakob shiver.

"Pay attention," Jakob radioed. "Gaul, don't get into a trance."

"Ah," Gaul said in the other line. "Miss's song, it's so beautiful."

"Hmm," Jakob tapped his earphone. "Focus, don't get carried away."

"Got it," Gaul said. "Ah, but I can't help it."

Gaul went back into the trance. Jakob kneaded his hand as he continues to listen to the Miss. Her song continued to echo around the stadium.

Before long, even Jakob could feel the trance creeping inside his brain. Seeking to invade his senses, making his eyes naturally place itself to the Miss.

He turns his nanoweaved suit on, injecting a bolt that rid the sensation from his body. Though he could guess that the others had activated their suits functions, they couldn't have training on how to resist such abilities.

If this happened in the past life, then he was sure that he wouldn't be able to resist. All he had right now was the experiences and the strength of the body that he maintained even in death.

Resisting the song, focusing on the crowd, he turns his attention to the Miss as she finally settles her voice into a timbre. As the crowd roars, the guards awaken from their trance. Reporting all over the radion, checking the crowd once again.

The voice of the Miss became soft, and the beat of her song became faster, turning the crowd into a sudden roar. The stadium became loud again as she starts another dance that was accompanied by her backup dancers. She became the Queen of the stadium, the Mistress that stirred the hearts of the crowd.

"Truly the star of Aured," Jakob commented, still standing tall like a barrier against the sea of crowds stomping their feet. The stomping shook the stadium louder than before. Even the earphone chatter didn't hold back the ear-piercing sound.

Continuing for minutes, Jakob resisted the sounds from the crowd and Mistress.

"I would like to thank you all for coming!" She said to the crowd. "We still have time and let us speak through songs! Oh, my lovelies!"

She started singing in a different style. Her voice differed again to her previous singing voice, becoming more upbeat. If there was anything that can be said to the Miss. she had many talents, her voice was changeable, adjustable, and her mastery of song and dance made her stand out no matter what kind of style she entertained everyone with. A one-woman army that even her peers could not keep up with. Jakob could not imagine the rest of her peers being able to keep up with her stamina and talents.

As the concert continued, Jakob detected abnormal heat signatures. Clicking his tongue, swinging his head around, he detected the rising heat coming from below the stage. The humming of a mechanical suit and the grinding of a saw blade entered his ears.

Then four explosions happened on the crowd and eastern part of the stage, causing all the guards to sprint out to protect the Mistress, forming a human shield as the chaos finally erupts. Unsurprised by this turn of events, Jakob stars running only for him to halt his step, and then dived to the side, enabling the maximum protection that the nanoweaved suit could do for him.

He became a baseball swatted by a bat as he flew into the crowd and made a crater on the flight of stairs. Forcing his body up, removing his trench coat, throwing away his rifle that was destroyed by the impact. He turned his attention to the stage, where he could only wearily smile, witnessing Gaul blocked the over the head strike, parrying the blow meant for the Miss. His body was thrown like a rag, his nanoweaved suit malfunctioning as the guards acting as her shield became pools of blood.
