Looking into those cold blue eyes
I knew they meant no good
As the bell rung for the next class I sat still, waiting for Jace to leave the class. I released a sigh of relief as he stood up, but instead of moving towards the exit, he made his way to the front of the class where our teacher stood.
Ever since my realization earlier today, I made a mental note to stay more out of sight, out of Jace's sight that is. He had shot me a few more glances whenever he got the chance during the duration of the class, that smug grin ever so present on his face, scaring me even more.
As I sat there packing my books for an eternity I heard Mr Brown ask "her?". Quickly brushing of the idea that they were talking about me, I continued tapping and alligning my books. My state of denial was short lived as Mr Brown called out my surname with a 'Miss' only seconds later. Slowly turning my gaze to them, I forced a smile and answered with a " sir?". " Would you come up over here please" he requested.
Reluctantly, I slid my books into my backpack and walked over to them, my face splitting from the 'Miss stupid 2019' smile I was giving them. "Sir?" I asked for the second time as I reached them. "I'm swapping your partner Jonas, with this young man Jace here" he said, a smile plastered on his face as he tapped Jace's arm.
On normal circumstances, I would be relieved that I didn't have to work with a perverted numbskull, but this was not a normal circumstance, this was Jace fucking Cowell swapping partners with me .
As I looked at the sheepish grin on his face, I knew he was up to something and I wasn't into it. " Why sir?" I found myself asking. He furrowed his eyebrows, as if I'd just asked him a personal question. " For reasons best known to me" was his excuse for an explanation as he grabbed his suitcase and walked out.
" Hey, I'm Jace, Jace Cowell" he said, extending his hand for a handshake. Biting my urge to punch the perfect smile out of his twice as perfect face, I balled my hands into fists and spat " Nicole Everlyn". Then I spun on my heels and walked out.
My other classes had gone well, particularly because Jace wasn't in any of them. I hated the fact that he had crawled into my mind and refused to leave. I had ducked, hidden and ran back into a class whenever I spotted him. Now I was in the cafeteria preparing to devour the plate of pasta on the table in front of me when another person's tray banged in the table.
I didn't look up, I never do, I'd just wait for the person's friends to show up, Eve's drop on their gossip a little then get out of their way once my meal was finished.
" Hey Nikki" Jace's now familiar voice greeted as he sat down behind the tray. Today seemed to be deliberately getting on my nerves. I ignored him, he even got a nickname for me. That's a first.
" Urm... Nicole?" He called out in a soft voice. He must've thought the nickname offended me.
If only he knew
I wanted to reply but I knew somewhere at the back of my mind that the whole school was looking at him, thus engaging in a conversation would draw more attention than I needed. But him just sitting there in front of me was drawing too much attention, this is so not what I need. Jace was a game changer and I didn't like it one bit.
" Hey" I mumured in an attempt to answer his greeting, eyes still on my plate. " I was looking for you all day, I was wondering if I could get your phone..." " I don't have a phone" I blurted out, stopping him mid sentence. Then both our eyes slowly made its way to the iPhone with a pink pouch beside my plate.
Yeah the scene looked pretty fucked up.
I let out a wide grin to cover my stupidity. " Joking" I said with a nervous smile, he mirrored my smile, his eyes filled with anticipation. " So..?" He asked, I heaved a sigh and grabbed his phone from his hand, almost cracking the screen as I tapped on the numbers, when I was done I gave him back his phone and stood up almost immediately.
" This food tastes like shit, I'd better just leave" I said, hating myself for leaving the food behind as I made my way out of the cafeteria.
I was at the middle of the hall when Jace shouted my name. I froze for a split second and by the time I looked up, yes everybody in the cafeteria was looking at me. " The number you gave me is missing a digit" he continued to shout.
Dear God, please hand me a gun.
I turned on my heels and stomped to the table, grabbing his phone the second time and typing the last digit. Then I stomped out wishing the ground would swallow me with every step

When school dismissed, I walked straight to my locker. I opened it as soon as I got to it, sliding my books in and was about to close it again when I met Jace's gaze. He was propped against a locker next to mine with his arms folded, immediately I reopened the locker for absolutely no reason.
" What do you want!" I spat. I didn't want to give him the impression that I was rude, but if I wanted him gone as soon as this project was over then I was ready to come off as all shades of a bitch.
" I wanted to ask if we'd be doing the project at your place or mine?" He asked, making me pause for a brief moment. I had completely forgotten about this part of the project, it wasn't allowed to do assignments in school, so we had to pick a place. I didn't want to be alone with Jace at his house (or anywhere), but it'd be my worst mistake to bring a boy home. So I had no choice.
" Your place" I said, finally giving in. "Great, I'd show you my house, it's just at Bodway. After that I'd drive you back home " he said. I scoffed " that's not happening, just text me the address and I'll come over when I'm ready" I said. He scratched the back of his head before giving me a reply " I'm really not good at giving directions to places, besides it's easier this way" he said. I slammed my locker shut and shot him a glare, but his beautiful eyes were pleading, making my...everything melt inside, and so before I could stop myself I said " fine...let's go".
He beamed like a little girl and I hated the decision as soon as made it. " I'll walk to the express and you'll pick me there, I can't be seen following you to your car" I said, as if laying down rules. He smiled again. What the fuck was amusing this prick??. " You're funny" he said before grabbing my palm and pulling me to the exit, which was formerly the entrance this morning. I wanted to pull away at first, but his palm was so soft against mine, I wanted to crawl into it, lay down and forget my worries, but I couldn't, so I followed my initial instincts and pulled my hand away from his. He turned to me, obviously surprised by my action.
" I can walk" I said sternly and he nodded, as if in obedience. I could feel his stupid grin crawling on his face again as we walked out the door. " Jace!!!!" A group of girls shrieked as soon as we began descending the stairs, almost loud enough to draw blood from our ears. I looked up to the source and sure enough I met a group of blushing cheerleaders standing in front of what I hoped was not Jace's car.
" You promised us a ride remember?" The tallest of the girls said, grinning from ear to ear. " Aww, sorry girls, change of plans. We've got something to settle" he said before pointing at me. I couldn't believe what was about to happen. Jace was going to turn down these hot ass fucks because of me.
I looked at him as he stretched out his arm for me to take it, then I looked back at the girls who were gawking at us in disbelief. Then I did the shittiest but most relevant thing at the moment... I ran
