Prince Qui was quiet while the police searched the house of Tianshi Xue's father. There was a media group that had cameras at the ready and a reporter making the news. Tianshi Xue flinched when one of them turned their way to the car.
"It's tinted," he told her. "Plus, they won't recognize you."
Moments later, her father was taken out of the house, hands cuffed behind his back, was placed in the backseat of the police car, and the door was shut. The sound of the sirens lingered for a few seconds before it was gone.
It was that easy.
It was that quick.
"I'll take you to your sister now," he said, slowly moving out of their spot without alerting the media people. It would be the worst if they were found there.
He was watching her from the corner of his eyes and for the first time he could not read the expression on her face. It was totally blank. "How are you feeling?" he asked her as they joined the highway again.
