Dinner had been not as great as it should be at Prince Qui's mother's house. Whenever he got an invite to visit his mother, he always got excited because he would not have to dine with the other pompous members of the royal family.
He had been looking forward to his mealtime because he wanted some peace and quiet while dining. Meals at the palace were treated almost like state lunches. There was nothing to talk about other than the matters of the empire. They were more like leaders with endless ideas having a meal than a family.
There were only a number of times that Prince Qui didn't like the mealtime with his mother. One of those dinners included her introducing a lady to him and completely ambushed him and left him with the said lady. The whole night was uncomfortable and awkward. It was one of those times that he was just thoroughly annoyed with his mother.
