Antoinette's POV
It was evening and we finally arrived back at my estate. The marble and stone mansion was glossed from the rainy weather. I entered into the empty mansion and waited for Reginald to take off my coat. My family ring sparkled from the light of the chandelier above me and the tips of my lashes felt like they were frozen. Reginald undid the bow from my coat and slipped it off my shoulders.
"Mistress! Your soaking wet!" My maid, Maryanne, ran to me.
I said nothing in reply but just to look at her. She lightly grabbed me by the shoulders and led me upstairs to my bedroom to set a warm bath and fresh clothing. I stepped into the warm soothing bath water. My mind couldn't get off of what happened today. The loud crashing of the glass, sounding like thunder. The blood hurling screams from my husband-to be being pushed out the window. They way his body was laid across the garden lawn. But...
I'm not sorry.....
After a while, I finally got out of the tub. I put on a light silk dress and left my damp hair down. I made my way downstairs and to the dining room. I was greeted by a table with food but empty seats, only one seat waiting for me. I sat down laid the napkin on my lap.
"Tonight Mistress you have the choice of Minestrone soup with bread sticks or we have Chicken Alfredo with the side of some fresh fruit at it's finest, which one do you care for tonight Madam?" He said lifting the polished lids of the two meals.
"The Minestrone soup," I said taking a sip of the piping hot tea in front of me.
My food was placed in front of me and I began eating. Silence filled the room as I continued to feast upon the warm soup. Reginald began to talk to break the silence.
"Young Mistress, about what happened today," She spoke up. I looked at him and I raised a brow at him.
"If you don't mind me asking, what kind of power did your eye unleash while I wasn't there?" He questioned. I sighed and took another sip of my tea then a bite of my soup.
"It's complicated Reginald," I set my cup down.
"It felt like that Raven had some strange presence or aura that started to fill my soul, almost like dark clouds and wingless swans could be seen within me,"
"Fascinating description Mistress," I Reginald complimented my minor summary while refilling my light porcelain cup. I nodded my head in gratitude and gently picked up the cup again to take another sip.
A few minutes passed by and I began to feel satisfied. I stood up from my seat and went over to Reginald.
"I'm getting tired now Reginald. I suppose it is time for me to retire for today," I said rubbing my eye, displaying on how exhausted I was.
"As you wish Young Mistress,"
Reginald picked me up and carried me to prepare for me to rest. He opened the door and sat me down, he brushed my teeth and combed my hair. He washed my face and covered my arms and legs with lavender lotion. He then picked me up once again and laid me in bed. I got myself comfortable in the covers while Reginald fluffed my pillow.
He lit up a candelabra and picked it up. He went over to the curtains and closed them. Reginald then walked over to me and took a light bow, not dropping the metal candle holder.
"Sleep well Young Mistress," He said in a soft voice then walked out to patrol the Mansion.
I got myself comfortable and closed my eyes. Everything started to feel peaceful, The warmth of the blankets on comforters. The way the comfort mattress and the way it carried my feminine, petite body. I loved this feeling. Before my parents passed I always was cuddled in their bed. My mother would hum me a lullaby with her angelic voice while my father gave the greatest embrace. I missed this feeling, but it would never replace the moments just us three had together. I missed them... I really did...
I felt myself start to drift off into my dreamland, while the warmth of the bed continued to sooth and kept me calm. That was until, the Raven appeared in my mind once again...
