Chapter 24 - Chapter 22: Are you alright?

I opened my eyes the moment that they had said amen. It seemed like a bit of a strange prayer to me, but I was not sure how other religious families worked, so I was not going to stand up and question them about it. As I saw that they had all opened their eyes as well.

I saw a smile on all of their faces too, as it all seemed normal, and they were all happy. It calmed me doen too, as I was not as tense now that I knew that nothing wrong was going to happen to me now. I sat there for a few moments though, as I looked at the fork and the knife that was beside me.

I stared at it for a few seconds for some odd reason, as it seemed a bit strange to me, I was not sure what it was that was so wrong with it. I looked at it, as I knew that no one seemed to notice me looking an a perfectly normal butter knife with such a weird look on my face either.

I was not sure what it was that was so strange about it to me, as I then blinked my eyes a few times, trying to shake it all off as well. There was nothing that was out of the ordinary about the butter knife. It looked perfectly fine like any other one would look like, I just was not sure what was going on with me.

As I blinked those few times, I then saw that the butter knife was gone, and I thought that maybe I was going crazy, and that there in fact was no butter knife there in the first place. That was until I saw a hand that was pulling something away from my side of the table.

I looked at what it was on the mans hand, and I realized that it was a knife. But it was not some ordinary butter knife now, as I saw that it was somehow shape shifting in front of me at the same moment. I thought that I was going crazy, but it looked so real to me, not like something you would see in a movie.

I then noticed that the knife was in fact growing quite a bit, as it also looked to be getting sharper and sharper as well. I then looked up at the man, as he had a weird sort of smile on his face, and I realized that something was not right at the moment.

I then saw him lift it up in front of his face, and it seemed as though he was pointing at me with it as well. He stared at me for a few more seconds, and I looked around the table, to see if the mans wife, and his child noticed this as well.

I then saw that they were not there, but instead of them being there, there were some dark misty figures in front of me, and they had weird smiles on them as well, just the the husband had. I then saw that they also had horns on their head at the same instance as well, and I realized that they were demons.

I had never seen one in person, and it was a bit scary to me. My father had told me that they looked like normal people, but in school I had heard that they looked evil, and there were paintings of them as well. I closed my eyes, as I knew that this could not be real, surely I was just having another one of those weird visions right?

I then opened them, as I saw that they were still there, and they had even more of a strange grin on their faces. I then gulped, as I tried to move, but I could not do so. I looked down to see what I was stuck on, and I saw that there were in fact chains all around me.

It was weird as well, because I could have sworn that I had just moved a few seconds ago as well. I began to think about it more, and I started to question of this was in fact real, until I heard a strange voice begin to speak up, over all of those thoughts.

I looked over to where it had come from, and I noticed that one of the demons that was beside me of the right side of the table, where the mom had been at a few moments ago, was the one that was speaking to me in particular as well. I suppose I had no choice but to listen, as I looked at the scary little thing.

"You can't hide from us! Be with us! You can have all that you want!" It said to me, in a strange voice, but it was a voice that for some reason seemed a bit tempting to me. I was not sure why though, as normally if I saw a face like that, the only thing that would tempt me was to run.

I was stuck though, and I had to listen to what it was that it felt like it had to say to me as well, as it seemed as though I had no other choice. I looked away from the demon, as I did not want to look at its face for any longer, but all I saw was darkness when I looked away from it.

I then heard the other demon begin to speak to me. At first I just tried to look into the darkness, and try to drown out its voice. Though for some reason, there was just something so tempting, and so soothing about the voice, that it seemed almost as if I had no other choice but to look over to it, and listen to what it was that it had to say to me. I did in fact go through with that as well.

"Just a small price you must make! You can have anything you want, all that you could ever imagine! A simple price to make, you already know what it is I believe... Yes... He will give it all to you!" It said to me. I looked at it for a few moments, as I was not sure if I did in fact understand what it was getting at in the first place.

That was when it all came back to me at the exact same time as well, as all of those thoughts seemed to go away at the exact same time. The memory then began to flood me at the same instance, as I remembered what my father had told me, and it was not the only time that he had said it to me as well.

"Anthony... There are tons of famous people that have done it... Some people thst are not famous that have as well." My father had said to me. I looked at him for a few moments, as I was a bit confused as to what he was talking about, and why he had said this to me while I was trying to do my homework.

I remembered at the same time as well, as I had just found out for the first time in a long time, that my parents were fighting about something, that he had been watching some crazy videos recently. I knew why my mom had been upset as well, she was going to go do something with one of her friends, and my father had tried to stop her.

I tried to shake it off, as I knew that my father was just going through some odd phase at the moment, and I needed to do my homework like my mom had told me to. If I did not get this done tonight than I would get in trouble from my teacher, and that was the last thing that I wanted to have happen as well.

I was close to failing my english class, and if I did, than I knew that my mother would ground me for quite a long time as well, until I got my grades up. I looked up at my father though, as for some odd reason or another, even though I knew I should be focused on my work, I asked him what it was.

"What are you talking about dad?" I asked him. He looked at me for a few moments, as he then squinted his eyes at me. It was if he thought I was lying or he thought that I was dumb for not knowing what it was that he was talking about right now.

I was still confused as to what it was though, as it seemed like it was something that I should have been told about quite a long time ago. I looked back at him, and I squinted my eyes at him as well, and he looked down at the ground for some reason once I did that too.

I could tell that there was in fact some thing or another that he was not telling me. I put my pencil down though, as I waited for him to go ahead and spout what it was that was on his mind, such as I normally did. He then noticed me do it, and he lifted his head up, and his face then looked a bit more happy, as he then nodded to me.

I rolled my eyes, and then I just leaned back in the reclining chair that I was sitting on. I then waited for him to go ahead and speak what it was that he felt like I should already know. He then looked at me for a bit longer, and then he began to speak.

"I am sorry to tell you... But some of your most favorite people have done it, you've got Will Smith, Eminem, and a few others that you are fans of. They sold their souls to the devil, they did it to get the fame, but they do not realize the price that it will cost." He said to me after the few moments of silence had finally passed.

I looked at him for a few moments, and I wanted to crack a grin, as it seemed like he had to be joking, surely right? I did not like the look on his face that he was giving me though. It seemed as though he really did believe in what it was that he was saying to me.

What did he mean by that though? I was a bit scared to even ask, as I reached my hand over to grab my pencil, and go on ahead and do my homework, pretending that I had not heard what he had just said to me in the first place.

But I could not keep myself there, until I found out what it was that he had in fact meant by what he had just said to me. I did not like the way that he had saif it as well. It was strange too, because I knew when my father told me something, it usually turned out to be true as well.

I moved my hand back into its normal spot upon the arm chair, as I then looked at him for a bit longer. I could tell that he thought that I did not believe what he had just said, just like my mother too. I was actually in fact interested in what it was that he was getting at, as I then spoke back to him finally.

"What do you mean by, sold their soul? Who did they sell it too?" I asked him at the same time. He sat there for a few moments, as he then looked down at the ground. I looked at him, as I was now in fact a bit scared as to what he had meant by what he had just said to me.

I did not like the way he had just said that, and it did not seem to be anything good by it either. Surely it could not mean anything too bad right? I knew that Will Smith was a good guy, and he certainly was a good actor! I sat there as I looked down at the ground just as he did too.

I tried to not think too deep into what it was that he had just said to me, as my teacher had told me that I thought too much, and that it was a bad thing. I knew that my father did not like my teacher as well. I knew that they had got in quite a big argument at the latest parent teacher conference.

I closed my eyes, and just tried to shake it off, as I knew my father would tell me the truth, just like he always did. After a few more moments of silence, I then opened my eyes, as my father had finally decided that this would be the perfect time to talk. I listened to him with my ears and my eyes wide open.

"They sold their soul to the devil son... They did it for the fame, they must do what the devil tells them... If not, he kills them and they are sent to hell." He said to me. I looked at him for a few moments, as it seemed like he was going crazy at the same time.

But at the same time, I was not ruling it out, and I was wondering if I was as well. It had to be fake right? He was just watching too many crazy videos... I knew that the devil was real, but he did not have that kind of power, surely right?

I closed my eyes for a few moments, as I heard my father then stand up from the spot that he had been kneeling from where he had spoken to me. I then heard footsteps of someone else, as I remembered that it was a Sunday night, and my mother was off work, and she was in the kitchen cooking.

She must have heard every word that my father had just said to me as well. I knew that she would not be happy with it as well, as I remembered the fight that they had gotten in just a few nights ago too. I then heard her talk as she stepped up and began to speak in a very angry voice.

"Gabe! Do not tell our son that utter non sense! He needs to keep a clean mind on the world, that is all bullshit in the first place!" She yelled to my father. I sat there for a few moments, trying to keep myself calm, as I knew exactly where this was going as well.

I kept my eyes closed, as I could almost feel some sort of radio wave coming from my father, as I could tell that he was very angry with what she had just said to me. I wanted to agree with my mother, but I part of me was telling me what my father said had been true.

It was all just silence for a few seconds, as I knew that neither of them had moved, and they both were stood still in the exact same spot. I did not dare open my eyes either, as I knew that this was only going to end one way, as I knew in the rare occasion that they did fight, they could never come to an agreement.

It lasted just a bit longer, the silence that was. Then finally my father got the balls to step up to his wife, as he then was the one that had the angry tone in his voice this time. I did not dare open my eyes, as I wanted to drown it out, but he was just so loud, that it was nearly impossible for me to do so.

"I am trying to open up both of you 2s eyes to the crazy shit that is going on in the world! It is not my fault that you do not want to listen, and you want to pretend that none of it is real, Jasmine." He said back to her. A part of me agreed with what he had said, but I still felt like I should take my mothers side.

I felt that way, because I was in fact scared to believe that any of what he had just said to me could possibly be true. 1 side of me was telling me that it was, but another side of me was telling me not to listen to any of what he had just said.

I stayed there, as I did not dare even want to hear what it was that my mother was about to say back to him. I knew that it was about to happen, as sure enough, just a few seconds after I thought about it, it then came true as she spoke back to him.

"It is not! You are scaring him, and tormenting him into a false ideology, and it is all just a bunch of bullshit!" She said back to him. I was scared to listen to what she had said, as I knew she was just trying to protect me from it, but at the same time I was not sure why my mother didn't want to hear any of what he had to say.

It was in fact scary, and she was right about all of that, but I was not willing to just give in to what she had said by calling it false. I also was not willing to give into my fathers theory in what he had said as well. I did not want to have to choose a side in it.

It was silence for a few moments, as my mother then put out an extra large puff, as she then went back into the kitchen to continue making the hamburger helper for us. I then opened my eyes, as I saw that my father had a bit of a sad look as he was looking down at the ground.

It seemed as though he had somehow noticed that I had opened my eyes however, as he then lifted his head up to me at the exact same moment as well. He then moved his hand over to me, as I looked at him a bit confused on what it was that he was doing.

I then felt him put his hand on my shoulder, as he was clearly just trying to relax me, and to calm me down. He knew that I did not like it when my parents argued, and fought like that, and I was not just going to choose a side, and say who was right, and who was wrong.

He knew that as well, and I knew that he appreciated it at the same time too, as he knew that I was not just going to push off what either of them had just said. He then nodded to me, as he then began to speak up to me at the exact same instance.

"Your mother may want to push it off like it is a joke, but just know that it is true... Satan is real, and he does things like that." He said to me. I looked at him for a few moments, I then gulped a bit to myself at the same time, and then I nodded to him.

I was so scared, I was not sure what to believe, and what not to believe in the exact moment, but I was not just going to push away what it was that he had just said to me, as I knew that it could be true, and I was not sure why my mom was so quick to say that it was not, I closed my eyes once again though.

I was back to where it was that I had been at in the beginning, as I saw that the demons were still there with such big smiles on their faces at the same time as well. I would have hoped they would have gone away since I was no longer thinking about them, but unfortunate enough for me, they were still there.

It made me think that it was even more real at the same time as well, as I then began to shiver. It was a bit strange too, as normally I had heard that hell and demons were flames and fire, but this seemed like it was the complete opposite of what I had been told.

I closed my eyes once again, as I tried to pretend that they still were not there, but it still was cold and silent in the room. That's when it hit me, what my father had said to me at the same time as well. As I then began to realize what it was that they were getting at.

This time I did open my eyes, and I was a bit angry at them now, as I could tell they had quite a bit of a surprised look on their faces at the same time too. It was as if they were reading my thoughts, and they knew exactly what it was that I was thinking about.

I looked at both of them, turned my head to both of them, and then I smacked my hand on the table a bit angrily as well, as I then yelled to the both of them damn near the top of my lungs too. As they looked a bit scared for some reason.

"Heres what I've got to say to you! No!" I yelled loudly to the both of them. They sat there for a few seconds, and then they disappeared, as if they were never there in the first place. The man was still there, and I saw that he now had a bit of a surprised look on his face.

I blinked, and then it was all back to normal, as I saw that the wife and the child were now back in the chairs that I had just seen the demons sitting in just a few seconds ago. They had a bit of some scared, and confused looks on their faces.

I looked back over to the father, and I saw that he still had quite a bit of the surprised look on his face, as I wondered if in fact that had been real or not. Maybe he was just surprised at the fact that I had just yelled that so loudly.

I then turned my head back over to the kid, as I heard him begin to speak up to me.

"Are you alright?"
