Chapter 4 - Is he cute though?

"So, what do you think it means?" Haniyya questioned as we made our way towards the cavern known as 'The Temple'. I'd just finished filling both her and Kaden in on my visions. "Honestly, I'm not sure. I need to speak to my mum, but I don't think it's good." My mind flickered back to the pain on the boys face as he cried. "Not good at all."

There was a brief moment of silence as all of our brains raced trying to create some meaning from the dreams. It's the human condition to want to have an understanding of everything. Kaden was the first to pull himself out of this trance. He widened his step so he was in front of us and spun to face us, stopping us dead in our tracks. "Yeah, yeah. Gloom, doom, whatever. What we really want to know is, was he cute? And on a scale of one to ten, how cute was he?" As Kaden asked this, his eyes lit mischievously and his cheeky smile revealed a perfect set of pearly whites. My cheeks started to heat. Until now, I'd not so much as thought about it. The vision had dread and fear embedded deep in my soul. "I'd probably go with a solid eight on a bad day." My blush deepened as I considered the appearance of the boy in the vision. The way his curly hair perfectly framed his face; his deep, dark, mysterious eyes that held so much back; his strong jaw line and the muscles in his forearms. He may certainly well be attractive but he was also dangerous, which I admit, could be part of the allure. That and the mystery that shrouded him and seeped through even the most logical parts of my brain. But acknowledging his good looks could be the start to a very dangerous game that it wouldn't be wise to play. My gut tells me I can't trust him, at least not right now.

"Anyway, why are you so interested?" My voice now an entire octave higher as I switched into defensive mode. "You, I believe, have a boyfriend." I finished, accusingly. Kaden raised a hand to his heart and feigned a look of shock. He loved to be dramatic when the opportunity presented itself, but then again so did I. You could say we were twin flames, to halves of the same soul. "How. Dare. You?" He fakely shrieked with all the decorum of a flower nymph during autumn (in other words, overly emotional). "I am thinking of nothing but your love life! Or lack thereof." He raised an eyebrow at me. I'm convinced the complete absence of romance in my life hurts Kaden more than it does me, he brings it up regularly. "And anyway, he might have a brother for Haniyya." He added, winking in her direction. As I rolled my eyes, Haniyya's own cheeks started to flush. She had been silently watching the altercation between Kaden and I until this point, the sound of her name snapping her out of a deeply pensive state. "Hey! Don't bring me into this!" She started. "Come on, we need to get to The Temple. Aoibheann is right, this seems like a warning." With this, Kaden gracefully slid left to join us and we continued walking through the short tunnel that was connected to The Temple.

After two minutes of comfortable silence, we entered the cavern that we referred to as 'The Temple'. We had used magic to attach yellow flickering Witch Lights to the stalactites above, almost like candle flame. Engraved in the centre of the stone floor was a rather large pentagram, this was used during rituals mainly. Just like the altar in the city centre, the walls of the cavern were covered in engraved, sacred runes and sigils. Pillows were placed haphazardly in a circle around the pentagram. This was where we would sit during meetings, rituals and some celebrations.

Towards the back of the cavern on a raised platform was another alter, however, this one was made of white marble. It was also decorated like the one in the city centre, with an abundance of petals and candles. A small statue depicting Aphrodite stood on the top to the left and the ceremonial Athame (a dagger like blade, carved with runes and a gem for each Chakra embedded into its handle) was laid on the front of the altar.

To the right of the cavern stood a grand throne. It was arched with opulent crystals around the top quarter of the rim. Bang in the middle of the crystals, at the top of the throne, was a Rams skull. This is representative of the Horned God, the consort of the Triple Goddess and he is perceived as a god of nature, wilderness, sexuality and more. The throne was made out of Ebony wood and inscribed in the bottom, under the seat, was the symbol of the Triple Goddess. Where the crystals ended, sigils began. There were sigils for wealth and prosperity, health and fertility, intuition, justice, for fair leadership and many more.

Sat delicately on its black, velvet lining was my mother, the High Priestess Arlie. My mum was a tall, slender woman, with deep blue eyes behind long lashes. Like me, she had long, thick, curly, raven hair. Her full, heart-shaped lips were pulled into a sweet, dimpled smile. This smile didn't quite reach her eyes as she surveyed me from across the room. She knew something was up. She gracefully raised a svelte finger and beckoned me over.
