Considered to be one of the most generous and gentle souls in his village, Steven Berger and his family live in Great Britain, a very simple place who harmed no one. His village stayed to themselves, but welcomed all visitors with open arms. Today just so happens to be a day where a new kind of visitor has shown up. Steven and his people did not travel, so they were shocked to have seen people with such dark skin. Even still, Steven personally greeted them, and he and his village threw them a huge party, fed them their finest food, and showed them nothing but love. The black men carried strange looking staffs with them, and spoke a language they were unfamiliar with. But Steven and his people treated them all the same. But that's when the first pop went off.
The black men began aiming the hollow point of their staffs at Stevens people, and every time it made a popping sound, a life was lost. Chaos erupted as everyone was trying to get their family to a safe place, in hopes of slipping away and surviving. Steven, who was worried more about his wife and children then he was about himself, saw a black man tying his son up, and before he could try to save him, something unspeakable happened. Steven's wife, who had also seen their son being tied up, was murdered in cold blood. Steven froze, stunned in his fear, anger, and confusion. Why would these people come here just to kill innocent people? Why would they continue killing after we were so kind to them? What kind of soulless being can do all of this and still sleep at night? Steven ran to his wife's body, kneeling there, sobbing. His son David, who was tied up, was also sobbing, being only a foot away from his mother's lifeless body. Before they knew it, all the survivors, David and Steven included, were shackled. They had begun a journey that they never wanted to take.
After days without food or water, they arrived on the shores of Europe, where they were branded and caged. Finally having had some food and water, Steven and his people were broken, and had no fight left in them. All they could do now was survive.
One day a huge ship came onto the shore. The black men herded them onto the ship as if they were animals. They yelled at them in a funny language and then forced them into the bottom of the ship, where they were chained to a small board they called a bed. As they began the long journey to cross the deep blue sea, they had no idea of the horror that awaited them.
By the time they reached the other shore, Steven realized that over half of his people were raped, killed, or died due to illness. Steven looked around him, and all he could think of is all of the family and friends he'd lost. In a fit of rage, he attempted to break free of his shackles, in hopes of attacking the people who captured him. That's when the same man he witnessed murder his wife hit him in the stomach with his mysterious staff. On his knees, Steven looked at the man dead in his face as he yelled something in his native language. Steven spat right in his face, having finally had enough. The man, who was visibly angry, placed the hollow tip of his staff directly between his eyes.
And with an evil smirk on his face, he pulled the trigger, as simple as he'd flip a lightswitch.
