Chapter 2 - Porcelain Doll

I held my new porcelain doll and hugged it tightly. My mother got me a new doll and I am ecstatic. I think I shall name her Lily. I've always loved dolls, they are quiet yet intriguing; they are mysterious yet non-critical. They are perfect. They can do no wrong.

I opened my glass shelf and moved some of my older dolls, placing Lily in between so she is in front and center. Lily's stoic look blended in with my other dolls yet it stood out. Lily was different from the others; her curly blonde hair that hits her shoulders, striking blue eyes and white dress with a hat perched on her head. She gave me sudden comfort, she gave me a friend. I stared at her through the glass and she went from frowning to smiling back at me. Oh, Lily is so pretty, so perfect! I wish I could be just like her and have nothing wrong with me.

Lily stared right into my eyes, and we instantly understood each other. Lily knows that I can trust her and she knows that she can trust me. No one else can feel the same love, understanding, and the peace that I feel with her; the feelings that I have felt with all my dolls. They radiate my room. I left my room feeling Lily smiling back. She cannot hurt me, she would never hurt me.

I love dolls, and they love me.
