Topaz and Ariel follow their fellow students through the arena to where airships are waiting to take everyone to safety. On their way to the airships, they run into Nova and Scarlett and the four continue on. Finally arriving to the airships, team SATN makes their way on board and are quickly shuttled onto the ground to help take care of the grimm. As they land, Topaz notices new scents that aren't civilian or grimm. Following the scent, Topaz sees White Fang members attacking civilians and helping cause destruction alongside the grimm.
Topaz: "Watch out everyone, we have both hostile grimm and White Fang members here. Keep your heads on a swivel and stay safe."
Topaz takes out a group of beowolves that were ready to attack a small family. Ushering the family to make their way to safety, Topaz pushes forward taking out any grimm in his path. Arriving to where the White Fang was attacking, Topaz confronts them and prepares for a fight.
Topaz: "What are you doing? How on Remnant does attacking innocent civilians help show faunus are equal to humans?"
White Fang: "You wouldn't understand kid. You've obviously never been discriminated against."
Topaz: "You wouldn't believe what I've all been through. Not that it matters, you are all just lost in the power you've been given."
White Fang: "That's it kid. You die here!"
Four White Fang members rush towards Topaz and all attack him at once. Topaz ducks between their attacks and knocks them all out in one attack. Pushing forwards taking out anyone that stands in his path, Topaz follows an unfamiliar scent the reeks of blood and anger. Arriving at the cafeteria Topaz sees a scene that sent him into a blind fury. He sees Blake stabbed in the stomach and Yang rushing to her attacker, only to have her arm sliced off. Topaz yells at the attacker and is able to distract him just enough for Blake to drag Yang to safety.
Topaz: "Who do you think you are."
????: "Me, I'm an avenger. I shall show the humans what pain is truly like."
Topaz: "You sound like a whiney child."
????: "Bastard! You don't know anything!"
Topaz has enough of his bullshit and attempts to attack the so-called 'avenger'. Before he can attack, Topaz feels a threat from beside him so he jumps back. Hearing a crash, Topaz notices that a giant Ursa now sits where he was only moments prior. Making quick work of the Ursa, Topaz prepares to attack again, only to find the 'avenger' gone.
Topaz: "Coward."
Turning to see if anyone else is in any immediate danger, Topaz sees Pyrra kiss Jaune, and then shove him into a locker. Watching the locker being sent away Topaz chases after Pyrra.
Following her into Beacon Tower, he sees her use her semblance to lift the broken elevator to the top. Quickly changing into a falcon, Topaz races to the top and sees Pyrra prepare to face off against a woman with dark hair wearing a red dress with gold decorations. Topaz observes the fight for a moment waiting for the right time to step in if needed. Topaz attacks the moment he sees Pyrra shot through the ankle with an arrow. Blocking another arrow aimed towards Pyrras chest Topaz faces her attacker.
Topaz: "Why would you do this?"
????: "Foolish child. There are bigger things in play here than you will ever realize. But don't worry, as soon as I kill the girl and take the power that is rightfully mine, I'll make sure everyone receives a quick and painless death."
Topaz: "Great, another egotistical maniac."
????: "How dare you!"
The woman attacks Topaz with a sword made from black glass. Topaz pulls out his ax and shatters her sword. The woman then rushes forwards and creates blade after blade of the black glass attacking Topaz over and over. Stuck in a deadlock the two push against each other's blades trying to gain an advantage. The woman smiles and drops one of her swords, then grabs Topaz's ax. Topaz can only stare as the ax begins to glow a dangerous orange before it begins melting. Dropping the molten ax, Topaz jumps back and grabs one of the giant metal cogs that lie around him. Throwing it towards the woman she attempts to block it, but is caught off guard by the power behind the throw. Topaz looks at Pyrra after throwing the cog to see how she is doing. Seeing her bleeding severely and turning pale. At that moment Ruby reaches the top of the tower and sees Pyrra. Ruby freaks out and her eyes begin to shine Topaz watches in fascination as the grimm flying around the tower turn to stone and drop. After Ruby's eyes stop glowing, she passes out. Topaz grabs the unconscious Ruby and the injured Pyrra and jumps off Beacon Tower. Topaz feels himself slowly sink to the ground below. Landing on the ground Topaz is quickly greeted by Weiss.
Weiss: "Topaz, what happened?!"
Topaz: "The one who I'm guessing led the attack was on top of Beacon Tower. I got up there and saw her and Pyrra fighting. Luckily, I was in time to stop a lethal blow, but she is still injured. Ruby got to the top of the tower and saw her injury and panicked into using her silver eyes too much, causing her to pass out."
Weiss: "What about her silver eyes?"
Topaz: "Later, we need to get them to safety."
Weiss: "Ok."
Topaz carries the two to the safe zone with Weiss making sure no one gets the jump on them. As they arrive, they see Blake and Yang lying on the ground wounded and exhausted. Topaz gently lays Ruby and Pyrra down and has the medics on site take a look at them. Looking around Topaz sees Ariel helping take a look at everyone who comes into the safety zone, helping out the medics. Topaz makes his way over to her.
Topaz: "Ariel, have you seen Scarlett and Nova?"
Ariel: "Topaz! Thank the gods you are ok. I haven't seen them since we landed. But I did hear from someone recently that a large group of grimm were seen on the other side of campus. You might want to check there."
Topaz: "Will do, be safe please."
Ariel: "You too Topaz."
Topaz rushes to where the sound of fighting is the loudest. Arriving there, Topaz sees Nova and Scarlett fighting a group of Ursa. He sighs in relief as he watches them make quick work of them but worries when he sees their aura flickering. Topaz takes a step towards them and notices a deathstalker rushing the both of them from the side. It sends an attack to Scarlett without her realizing. Running to them as fast as possible, he realizes he can't get there in time. Topaz can only watch in horror as the attack gets closer and closer, but right before it can get to her she is shoved out of the way by Nova. Scarlett rolls on the ground, and watches Topaz obliterate the deathstalker in rage. Topaz and Scarlett rush over to Nova, and find him in a sorry state. He lies on the ground, both legs severed by the deathstalker's attack.
Topaz: "Nova, come on man stay with me."
Scarlett: "Nova, please. You can't leave me."
Nova: *cough cough* "Good, you're ok Scarlett. That's all that matters."
Scarlett: "Nova, no no no no no."
Topaz: "Scarlett, snap out of it. We need to get him medical help."
Scarlett: "Nova."
Topaz: "SCARLETT!"
Scarlett: "Huh, Topaz?"
Topaz: "You are our leader Scarlett. Get your head on straight or we are going to lose him."
Scarlett: "Ok, let's go."
Topaz carries Nova as Scarlett holds Nova's pant legs over the wounds in an attempt to slow the bleeding. Arriving at the safe zone Topaz shouts for immediate medical assistance. When the medical team arrive, they begin doing everything they can to help Nova. Scarlett breaks into tears and Topaz punches a wall in frustration. Ariel makes her way over and hugs Scarlett trying her best to calm her down. Topaz can hear bells ringing in the distance signaling the clock striking midnight. As soon as it chimes, Topaz's head begins to throb, sending sharp pain all over his body. Topaz passes out from the pain, while out, Topaz's childhood begins replaying itself to him. He finally knows who he is, he is Topaz Nemea. Son of the alpha of the Nemea Lion Faunus tribe on Menagerie, and Summer Rose's sister, Sara Rose.
