Quietly making his way over to the voices, Topaz takes his time sneaking through the unsuspecting guards. He continues forwards until he finds Roman leaning over a desk with a map. A large White Fang member stands against the wall on his right keeping an eye over him. Taking a deep breathe to compose himself, Topaz grabs a small rock and tosses it where only the White Fang member will hear. He makes his way out the door and passes by Topaz without noticing him. Topaz follows behind him without making a sound. Hitting him just right on the side of the neck, the large man falls unconscious. Making his way back into where Roman is, Topaz sees Roman still standing by the map. Topaz makes his way over to Roman, only for Roman to turn around and aim his cane at Topaz.
Roman: "Well, well, well. What do we have here?"
After being tied up at cane-point by Roman, Topaz is frustrated, but knows he can break the ropes at any time. He prepares himself to snap the ropes but hears some shouting off in the distance.
????: "Hey Boss, we found something you might want to see.
Roman: "Is it good or bad Perry, because let me tell ya, I have ha~ad a day."
Perry: "Uhhh, it's a little girl?"
Topaz see's Roman quickly make his way to the doorway.
Roman: "That would be bad."
Topaz takes that moment to snap his ropes, getting behind Roman and knocking him unconscious. Before the two men outside even realize anything has happened, Topaz has Roman tied up. Topaz then rushes outsides and knocks out Perry and the other White Fang member. Surprise wouldn't even begin to describe how Topaz feels, seeing Ruby just standing there.
Topaz: "Ruby?"
Ruby: "Topaz?"
Topaz and Ruby: "What are you doing here?"
Topaz and Ruby: "I could ask you the same thing."
Topaz: "Ruby, enough. We need to stop these bombs, now."
Ruby: "Bombs? What bombs?"
Topaz: "Listen Ruby, I'm going to take you over to a friend of mine. I want to stay with her and let your team know you are ok, and not to look for you."
Ruby: "But I don't have my scroll."
Topaz: "Here's mine, the signal isn't the best down here, but it should be enough."
Ruby: "Thanks Topaz, please be safe."
Topaz: "I got this. Don't worry."
Topaz rushes off, going train car to train car, defusing every bomb he comes across, and breaks the couplings connecting every car. Getting to the back of the train, Topaz defuses the final bomb and then makes his way to Roman who still lies unconscious. Grabbing Roman and dragging him over to where Neo and Ruby are.
Topaz: "Girls, are you ok?"
Ruby: "Topaz! You're ok."
Topaz: "Of course I'm ok. Don't you trust your brother Ruby?"
Ruby: "You know I trust you Topaz, I just worry about you."
Topaz: "I know Ruby, I'm the same. I was just teasing you. You doing ok Neo?"
Neo nods her head and types on her scroll. Topaz's scroll goes off in Ruby's hands, and Topaz takes his scroll back.
{I'm ok. I'm relieved that you are ok.}
Topaz gives her a smile and then motions for the girls to follow him.
Topaz: "Come on girls, let's get out of here. The bombs have been taken care of and Roman is in custody."
Topaz slings Roman over his shoulder and carries him as he leads Neo and Ruby out of the caves and back onto the surface. As soon as they arrive, Topaz hands his scroll to Ruby.
Topaz: "Send your team a message and ask where they are. We'll take you to them."
Within moments, a message returns.
{We are on the South side of the tallest building.}
Leading the way to their location, they arrive to find no-one there.
Ruby: "Where are they, they said they were here."
Topaz: "Give them a minute Ruby, they probably thought it was a set up for an ambush, so they gave a location they could keep an eye on without revealing themselves. Now that they've seen that it's actually us, they should come here."
Ruby: "Ooohhh. I guess that makes sense."
After a few minutes, there is a bark and Zwei comes running in. Followed by the rest of team RWBY and Dr. Ooblek.
Topaz: "Uh Ruby, why is Zwei here?"
Ruby: "Dad sent him in the mail right before we left. I couldn't just leave him there, so I took him along. Turns out Dr. Ooblek thinks I'm a genius now for it."
Topaz: "Don't let it get to your head Rubes."
Yang: "Ruby! Are you ok?! Wait, Topaz? What are you doing here?"
Topaz: "Hey Yang. I'm here on a special mission."
Yang: "A special mission?"
Topaz: "Yeah, Neo here let me know about Roman's plans and Professor Ozpin allowed me to come here, stop Roman and get Neo out of there."
It was at that point that Yang noticed Neo standing there.
Yang: "Wait, you're the girl from that night. You helped Roman escape. Topaz, what are you doing helping her?"
Topaz: "Yang, this is Neo. Neo, this is Yang, my other sister. Yang, Neo has been working with me for a while now actually. She's a sweet girl who has helped more than you'll ever realize. She showed up that night and distracted Roman, so none of you would have gotten hurt, and then kept him occupied while you guys destroyed that mech. Please be kind to her, for me."
Yang: "Fine, I will give her the benefit of the doubt for now."
Topaz: "Thank you Yang."
Topaz notices his scroll going off so he takes it out. Seeing that it's addressed to Yang, he hands his scroll to her.
{Hello Yang, my name is Neo Politan. Topaz saved me from a very bad incident a few months ago, and showed me that this world still holds kindness. He gave me hope and for that I will be forever grateful to him.}
Yang reads the message, and Topaz could see her eyes soften.
Yang: "Pleased to meet you Neo. I'm Yang Xiao Long, my brother's always been a kind person. You hurt him and I will hurt you. Got it."
Neo gives a small smile and nods to Yang. The rest of team RWBY have said their hellos to Ruby and now stand in front of Topaz and Neo, demanding an explanation about why the girl they encountered helping Roman there with them.
Topaz: "Um girls, if you haven't already noticed, I have Roman in custody here. I don't know how much longer he will be unconscious for, and would rather not deal with him being annoyingly conscious the entire ride home. I'll explain everything when we are home."
Ooblek: "Good, very good young Topaz. Let us make our way back. We've done all that we could do here for now."
The flight back was... interesting Topaz would say. Neo fell asleep shortly into the ride and used Topaz's lap as a pillow. Everyone else on the flight just stared at Topaz.
Weiss: "So Topaz, you want to explain who this girl is, and why she is so familiar with you?"
Topaz: "Everyone, this is Neo Politan. The day before we started at Beacon, almost at the same time as Ruby and Roman first stood off in the dust shop, I was walking around just trying to burn off some excitement for the next day. While walking, I overheard some people saying some rather, unkind things. Making my way into the alley, I found three 'huntsman' getting grabby with her. After putting them in their places, I started a conversation with her, and found out she doesn't speak. She wrote down a note telling me thanks, and introducing herself. By the time I finished the note, she was gone. I then met her again the night of the docks attack. That was the night I learned she was working with Roman. Sadly, Roman was merely using her because of her semblance, and once she learned that she offered to be a spy for me. She would give me heads up on big things that were going on. Weiss, she was the one who told me about your encounter with him, that's why I wanted to make sure you were all ok. And then today, she let me know Roman's plan. That's why I was there. I had to stop Roman and get her out of there."
Weiss: "Oh."
Topaz: "Weiss speechless, that's new."
Seeing everyone's opinion of the girl change after hearing everything she'd done for them, Topaz could only smile and brush Neo's loose hair behind her ear. That is, until he hears a camera shutter. Looking up he sees Yang holding out her scroll.
Yang: "What's Ariel going to say once she sees this?"
Topaz: "I don't know. I do not want to hurt Ariel, she means too much to me. But I also don't want to seem cold to Neo. I can tell she needs people that care."
Yang: "Fine, I'll show this to her after you introduce Neo to her, and then I'll explain the situation."
Topaz: "Thanks Yang."
The rest of the flight goes quietly without any major events. Landing at the air pad, Topaz carries a very angry Roman to Professor Ozpin, while leading Neo there as well.
Topaz: "Well... this will be an interesting conversation."
