Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

After watching her house until noon the next day, I decide to sneak away to stretch my legs and get some food from a market I had spotted just down the road. When I return with extra food I choose a new vantage spot in an abandoned shed outside of the parking lot. The walls are riddled with holes so it's not too hard to find a good vantage point. I peer through one of the punctures facing her door, knowing I will be able hear when a door opens I sit and occupy myself with what to do to be rid of her.

Usually I would be deciding how to kill her, but for some reason I want to talk to her. I want to see that face; the same face of my only love. I know it's not her but my head keeps spinning; telling me to tell her I'm sorry, to make it all okay, to never leave her again. I'm not thinking straight, I need to kill her before I age too much. Being immortal is very addicting. The feeling of power is addicting. I just need to wait until she leaves and then get her alone, then I'll get it over with as fast as possible.

I climb out of the shower and wrap up in my light blue towel. Something feels a little different. I look in the mirror but see the exact same face and body I've seen for the past six years. My long brown hair pulled to one side drips water on my feet and the floor. I leave the bathroom and step across the short hall, into my bedroom.

Pulling on the fresh clothes I set out on the bed I ponder on what my old friends had said it was like to meet their soul mate. In some of the stories they had known each other since childhood and just kept aging as they spent their lives together. Others had gone a year or two stuck at eighteen and said once they met them they started aging again; they just had to talk to each other. They said it felt strange but familiar and sometimes it took them a while to put together who and what had caused it. This sounds similar to what's going on with me right now, it does feel kinda familiar. But I have no idea who it could have been...

My heart lurches and I cock my head to the side as I hear a door open and close. Standing up silently I see a man with light brown hair and a gray sweater climb into his car and drive away down the street. "Ah, this might be a long wait" I say under my breath; slightly annoyed. Right before I go to sit back down I see her door open. I can see that her hair is damp as it sways lightly with her steps. She opens the door to a small black Fusion and places a brown bag she had been carrying on the passenger seat. she scoots in and sits for a few minutes before driving down the opposite direction from the cafe we had met at the day before. "Oh great, I gotta keep up with her now" I huff slightly and once she turns I sprint down the road to follow at a safe distance.
