Chapter 1 - Prologue

DEMETERS POV

I watch as Persephone runs around in the field examining and growing flowers everywhere. She is now the age of 12 and still my little goddess. Garden nymphs follow her playing tag with her I'm guessing since there are throwing there hands at each other gently trying to touch the other. I'm glad I decided to raise her in the mortal realm, she wouldnt have been who she is if I hadn't. They begin to roll around the flowers all until a nymph slowly desinerates. Persephone grabs onto her only for the nymph to slowly dissapear leaving begin a small velvety rose. Persephone turns to the other nymphs seeing the same results.

Persephone slowly turns to me, her eyes blood red filled with anger and her red curvy hair rising in the still wind. She holds her hand out and a staff with red roses twirl up around a long wooden stick. They have sharp thorns and the end of the stick in a curved arch. Each tip being sharp. A scythe? How does she even know what that is?!

"Persephone?! What are you doing?!" I yell right before she leaps from the ground headed towards a kingdom. I quickly follow after her but she is too fast. The flowers below her begin to turn dark red colors and some black producing a black smoke.

"kore Persephone! Get back here!!!" I yell in hopes she would at least look back at me but she just keeps on her trail. She lands in the field of the Kingdom which is being harvested. I stay back and watch as everyone looks up to her floating in the air in terror. She opens her mouth and a voice begins echoing through the fields of the kingdom. It takes me a few moments to realize its her.

"Why do you kill these flowers?! Do you know you are killing innocent nymphs with every few flowers you clip?!" Everyone shakes there heads no in terror. Who is this. . . this is not my daughter.

She swings the scythe in front of her blowing all the flowers that they had been holding into the air. I race towards her and she yanks her head to look at me. I tug at her arm trying to pull her down to my level.

"Get back!" She yells sending chills through my bones.

"Kore Persephone! They did not mean it." A smirk creeps upon her face as she lands in the fields. She drags one of the tips of her scythe across the fields walking up to each and every person who had harvested flowers. She blows a pinkish black powder at them making. Within minutes tons of people are covered in black pimples oozing black goo out. They fall over coughing and clutching there chests. I clench my teeth at the horrific sight my daughter has caused.

"THIS KINGDOM SHALL BE CURSED WITH THE PLAGUE!" She announces making everyone scatter and run. She lets out a large cackle before jumping up back into the air and heading towards the castle entrance. She smashes the door down with the palm of her hand and walks in heading towards the King who sits at the end of the table with his Queen and daughter.

"You have cursed this kingdom and shall suffer as your people will. I will grant you and your family with mercy though." With a quick throw of her weapon, the head of the King and Queen falls to the ground. Everyone in the room begins to scream in fear and shiver.

"Kore Persephone!" I scream at her. She looks at me suddenly. Her curly red hair drops back down as her eyes appear back to there normal blue color. She still grips the scythe as she looks into my eyes then at everyone in the room. She grabs the baby and apologizes to the people in the room but they still shiver in fear. She leaves the room back to our home and lays the baby in the middle of the field.

"You shall be returned to the Earth." She whispers quietly while pressing her hands against the ground. She closes her eyes as the baby slowly decinerates as the flower nymphs had. She stands up and looks at me.

"I'm sorry mother." She says while bowing and returning to play with more flower nymphs. What is wrong with my child. . . I sit there in shock watching as she runs happily around the field again playing tag with nymphs. May the gods guide her.
