They had started walking towards the hall numbered seven. It didn't take long but the walk wasn't short either by any means.
The scenes they passed reminded Penta of what a very high-end university library looked like. Not the old kind but the modern ones.
Once they arrived they could see a great difference between the previous area and this one.
A Truly different scene. One with the intricate design and beauty of a Hall of Carvings.
One should understand that knowledge can be ever-present. A single moment could teach a thousand lessons.
That is the beauty of existence. Lessons are wonderful because they allow learning and growth. One of the few beautiful things left for everyone who can see their worth.
The scene was like walking into a regal toystore, with wooden carvings, sculptures, and totems of all types.
Animals, bowls, instruments, small stone carvings.
A truly different hall.
As they neared the end some unique carvings stood out. Sana was running around between all of them.
She remembered that she should be careful so she didn't do more than look as she toured the hall. Penta and Kaya were just as surprised at what was available. Usually, a library holds books and certain other reference items.
It was incredible to witness how wrong it is to call this place a simple library. It held much much more than what a library could hold.
'Sigh, it truly is a Sanctuary deserving of its dignity.' Penta couldn't renew his view of this place.
"Alright Sana, it's your turn. Thanks to that sweet big sis, you get to have something too."
"Will this be okay Brother? I know the Elder agreed but Sana is only coming as an accompanying party even though she is our sister she didn't get student privilege." Kaya asked worriedly.
"Haha, don't worry about it. Elder Villal is a lot wiser than me. She clearly knew that and must of saw talent in little Sana and decided to rope her in at this age so she can maybe get a great disciple. I doubt she would take her words back, she doesn't seem to be the type." Penta gave a complete and long-winded speech but inwardly he definitely knew that she was listening again. He noticed the wisps floating around the library early on and knew the security of this place was top notch.
Considering the plan he set in motion, it was just a word game that was based on vague words. He knew Sana couldn't get anything until she officially joined and so when the Elder took the chance to offer her something. He readily took it in a grateful way.
Now he was just making sure this play turned out in Sana's favor.
However, at that very moment the-wisp that had been nearby transmitted exactly that to Elder Villal.
"Crap. I should have realized from her response but she was too cute. Argh, I messed up there." Vendra almost fell over from her surprise, she had overlooked such a simple thing.
However, she couldn't bring herself to stop what was happening as she saw the little Sana who called her big sis glowing with eyes of pure excitement. Such purity was lost in a world such as this one and she couldn't help but want to let that little naive pureness remain for a little longer in this girl.
Sighing, she sent a small report to the sanctuary system. The report held a clear and concise request. Considering her status at the Tribe, the request but approved.
If you looked at the request though, you would find it to be a blatant plagiarized copy of what Penta had bumbled out of his mouth on the spot.
Oblivious to all the little games and machinations that were going on, little Sana ran deeper into the 7th section. She wanted to know what that big sis was trying to show her. She also knew of her situation as she was a smart girl, Kaya's words reminded her of them but seeing her brother be carefree. She had totally believed him.
He would make it work and since the big sis and her brother said it was okay. Her excitement didn't waver.
As the trio neared the end of the section, they noticed that there were a lot of different little trinkets in this area with small notes describing them. They were simply labeled so deciding between them wasn't too hard.
"Bwutha! Sis! Help!" Sana said but her excitement leaked out a little as her voice a few pitches higher.
Nearing little Sana she was standing before a shelf on the side. "That one!" Little Sana requested. Penta and Kaya looking at where her finger pointed both frowned a little. What they saw were four bracelets but what made them frown was the little shocks that the bracelets produced every now and then. It looked broken.
"Sana are you sure about that? This one looks a little dangerous, if you just want bracelets, I am sure we can find you something in the market." Kaya said to Sana softly as she clearly didn't want her to get hurt touching these.
Sana looked a little worried and she looked to her "bwutha" with pleading eyes.
'Hm? Why does she seem so intent on it?' Penta thought as he looked at her.
"Little Sana, we aren't in a hurry to pick anything but we can consider it if you tell us why you want to pick this?" Penta asked calmly without hinting at anything.
Sana looked down for a few seconds as she looked to be in deep thought. It looked adorable. Penta had a hard time just not give in and remain calm.
"It makes me feel like it will help Sana!" Sana said after carefully considering her words.
Kaya and Penta were a little stunned at the response while Vendra who was still watching this had a shine pass her eye momentarily.
'Am I really going to be that lucky?' She thought to herself as her interest in the little Sana started rising.
"Okay, Sana." Penta agreed after a moment of thought.
"Wait, brother! She could get shocked and hurt!" Kaya retorted as she clearly was against something like this going to touch her sister.
"I understand where you are coming from Kaya, but even you know how good our little ones intelligence is. She has started growing up and we should try and trust her thoughts as well. If she has a feeling, it may be a resonance of sorts. Let's just see what happens and if anything bad does happen I will rush her to the Elder immediately. Okay?" Penta patiently spoke his thoughts.
Kaya relented only after another wave of puppy eyes from Sana who tugged at her top.
"Be careful" Kaya whispered.
Penta grabbed the little Sana by the waist and lifted her up towards the four bracelets.
Sana reached out and as they all worried about the reaction. They noticed nothing happened and the bracelets were comfortably in her hands. The shocks were appearing anymore.
"Interesting." Two people said in unison. Penta and Vendra.
They clearly understood that she must have had some sort of affinity towards the bracelets. This was a good sign to Penta especially as this meant she could probably have a future as a Shaman as well. This day was getting better and better for the trio.
"Ah! Congratulations little Sana, now you must be careful with these okay? Don't do anything rash with them."
"Brother look," Kaya mentioned as she picked up a small card that fell with dust on them from the shelf with the bracelets. She was surprised at what it wrote and handed it over to Penta.
Looking at the card in his hand. It read.
"Basic enchanted bracelets of lightning. No grade. Ability: This allows the ability to sense lightning elements in the vicinity of the holder to be minutely better. Good for low leveled apprentices trying to familiarize with their element."
"Well look at that. It seems Sana has an affinity for lightning. Good job Little one!" Penta patted her head as she closed her eyes in delight at the praise. Kaya joined in too and it seems
"Since both of you got something good. I should too no? Let's go!" Penta said getting a little impatient. He was excited to see if he could get what he wanted here.
"Okay!" The girls replied in unison as they hugged their book and bracelets.
-Section 1-
This hall was much different from the original three as well.
This one was filled with orbs with different pieces of information on totems and the many complexities that came with totemic arrays and a few others with Spirit knowledge. They were both in the same hall as it made sense. One's consciousness was needed when trying to create precise arrays that were to function with greater effect than the sum of its parts.
Totemic arrays was a vast subject in itself.
Penta wasn't scared of what he was getting into. His eyes actually shined even brighter as he started browsing the different available knowledge. Knowledge truly was a powerful tool with which one can create many things.
Penta wanted to create. He had lofty goals and he did not want to be impeded. As such he was carefully looking around the hall with a serious visage. The girls took the chance to quietly follow along with their brother as they were daydreaming of the things to come.
They couldn't believe how much their lives had changed and the very thought that if Penta hadn't been walking by that day and they had been taken by those thugs. It sent shivers down their spines whenever such thought popped in. Fortunately, the broad back of the man(roach) in front of them truly reassured them.
"Aha! Found it!" Penta almost yelled because of his joy.
Curiosity took over the girls as they caught up to him.
"What is it, brother?" Kaya asked smiling.
"Hehe, this skill here will help us a lot in this place!" Penta smiled proudly.
The crystal orbs description was just below it so Kaya saw and started reading it.
"Apprentice level mana spirit creation skill. Eh? Is this what you mean?" Kaya was confused as this seems to introduce neither Totemic inscriptions nor spirit consciousness knowledge.
"I understand what you are thinking but I have my reasons. Trust me when I say, your honorable brother will surprise you both with a pleasant surprise!" Penta proudly proclaimed.
"Okay!" Both girls happily nodded as they saw him acting confidently. They didn't really understand much about the skill but if he thinks it will help, then it must.
The trio who had just picked their items were going to go sit to get familiar with it but Elder Vendra was standing right in front of them as they just came out of the section.
"Elder!" all three bowed again slightly in response to her arrival.
"It seems you all chose what you want but I forgot to mention how certain items in the Sanctuary worked as not all knowledge can be copied over. As such follow me" She said in a tone that could not be refused.
As such, they traveled with the Elder while getting a few eyes from certain other students.
"Why is Elder Villal making them go with her?"
"Hope they didn't piss her off, she is a demon if you do anything in the Sanctuary."
As the whispers faded away. The trio followed the Elder into another room in the sanctuary. She used a totemic symbol and the door opened.
Seeing the instructions on the side of the door, it could be inferred that this was a public room for personal usage. She went ahead and sat at one side of the tablet that was in the middle of the room while motioning the three to sit as well.
"Now, to understand better you must know that certain items are unable to be retrieved from the sanctuary due to them being unique and others that cannot be due to them being unable to copy such as certain sculptures that contain techniques.
However, in some cases, these restrictions do not apply. Items can be taken out but only under the condition that they are returned. Otherwise, certain consequences will follow.
The bracelets Sana is holding is one of such items. They are basic arrays built into four bracelets that allow lightning affinity users to familiarize themselves with their abilities and affinity. They aren't of extreme value but they are a great tool for those like her.
Another thing would be that the loan period is dependant on the number of contribution points that are given. "
She paused letting them ingest this information.
"We don't have any though so does that mean we would have to return these once we leave?" Penta asked while Kaya and Sana both hugged their items. This little display made Penta frown as he didn't want them to be saddened for such small items.
"Well yes. That is how this Sanctuary works on all of its items. Regardless of how little value something may hold in the tribe, that which belongs to the Sanctuary of knowledge is an accumulation of knowledge and should not be destroyed just to please those coveting what's inside for themselves.
The Tribe would have long been destroyed in some of the knowledge here were just taken never to be returned"
Penta understood the concept but he needed these things for at least a few weeks to see progress. They however already took a mission and not learning while doing this mission made him feel uncomfortable as though he could progress more if he had this knowledge with him.
"Is there anything we can do?" Penta asked again unresigned. He also figured that this Elder wanted something if she were to be pointing this out at this time and specifically to them.
"Well, as you might have guessed. I have actually taken an interest in the little one's talents." She said while staring with a gentle smile towards Sana.
" I was hoping that maybe I and the little Sana could get more acquainted and if she is okay with it become one of my disciples. "
The question came out abruptly but Penta realized his guess actually became a fact.
