-The City of Mirage-
Arriving near the gates, he finally notices that there were quite a few people lining up to get entry.
The city gates guards were rather rough-looking men, suited in a black steel plate armor. It seems the people of this land are fairly human. He hadn't noticed many differences aside from a few people who seem to be of slightly different shades.
Penta was a little worried considering his species, certainly, was not human or at least like these humans but his brown skin didn't appear too abnormal. He simply looked very tanned, even compared to the farmers he had seen. As all know, farmers are usually out in the sun all day so they usually have a darker tone.
He tried very hard to understand what was being said between everyone but the language just came off as a garbled tongue. Luckily for Penta, he was already trilingual in his past life so languages were something he felt reasonably comfortable learning. He only hoped to get proper assistance at this point.
Noticing Penta walking towards the gates, the guards immediately took on a more serious demeanor and were closely watching this rather young looking man in boar hide, carrying a bone boar on his shoulder.
"Halt! State your purpose!" One of the guards declared.
Poor Penta, however, only heard " ASfsd! SDfsdffsdf!" He sighed at the lack of a proper transmigration plot armor. This was his debut in a new world and aside from barely escaping death at birth and eating dirt, he had been barely given a boon if it weren't for Old'Ban and Nature's Evolution.
Penta could only do the best he could and point at his mouth and sign that he couldn't speak and then point at the Bone boar and with some skills, then point at his boar hide skirt making a bitter smile.
Luckily, it seems the world was used to idiots getting killed in the wild and they somewhat understood what he was saying.
"Seems ya suffered boy. Hmmm, I'm feeling generous so go ahead." The guard spoke and stepped to the side.
Penta was like a little kid, just nodding his head repeatedly and even giving the man a thumbs up to show his gratitude. The guards thought he was a foreigner trying to sell the boar so they let it slide considering the kid looked quite tough and didn't seem to have ulterior motives. They had been guards for a long time. They generally could tell from the facial expressions and aura given off by people, what they were looking for.
Penta put the boar in front of the guards and then formed a foot long distance between his palms and point at the guards. Showing them different sections of the boar while looking with an inquiring gaze at the guards. They noticed people paying with some sort of coin, so he didn't want any trouble for getting in free.
"Haha Serge, look at the boy. He's nake and broke yet still kind enough to give us some meat. Hahaha! Good kid." The guard who spoke initially started laughing while the people behind Penta were amused while others were impatient.
"Go on kid, we already ate, and I can tell you had it rough considering your practically naked! Hahaha," Mathias spoke gently while refusing with his head and pointing at the gate for Penta to go through.
Penta understood and just smiled brightly while picking up the boar and trodding off while waving at guards.
"What an odd one. Seems he's mute too. Poor lad." Serge spoke before they returned to manning the gate. There were some people frustrated that the kid didn't pay any fees but Mathias smoothly handled it by saying that they can experience the same treatment if they were to come back naked with only a Bone boar in hand.
Penta finally inside the city was surprised at how well managed the city looked. Stone walkways, glass panels on the stores, nice looking houses, and buildings reaching two-three stories. It seemed that the world was fairly advanced as he believed it would have been some medieval-like times but people were dressed well, and the place looked nice. None of that cloth or hemp garbage, people wore silk-like clothes or robes, even the poorest ones were decently dressed and it brought a lively image to the city.
Penta, on the other hand, received quite a few glares for looking like the epitome of boorishness. A barbarian if you will.
"Damn it. I need some clothes quick but where the hell am I going to sell this boar?" Penta mumbled while trying to ignore the stares he was getting with the whispers and laughs aimed at him.
He looked around for the one thing he knew of. An Inn, any Inn, he just needed to find an Inn and he would be one step closer to succeeding in finding a bed, food and hopefully sell this boar for language lessons.
Walking around, he couldn't distinguish the signs at all and was losing his mind from the jeering he was receiving. Eventually, as he couldn't take it anymore. Penta stopped an adolescent looking kid, who freaked out at his call before smiling at him and signing a drink and putting on an inquiring look as to where he may find it.
'Inn's have beverages, obviously, this kid should know!' Penta thought and lucky again, he met a kid who wouldn't run away from him and pointed towards the east section of the city. Penta gave a thumbs up again and headed off.
It seemed he was in a residential type zone when he had entered and as he headed east, he noticed more stores of different kinds with some selling weapons, others selling some clothes and a whole variety of other things. Smiling he continued until he found his aim.
It was a building with a signboard of a mug and a roasted chicken like drawing.
"Finally! God damn it, I need to learn the language fast. This is utter bull," Penta roared in his head as he hated being so clueless.
Entering the Inn, Penta noticed a bunch of tables with people of all sorts going about eating and drinking with a few cute waitresses walking around like professionals with three or four plates at one time while maneuvering better than an elf.
He immediately walked towards the counter and saw a nice-looking woman who seemed in her late twenties with long blond hair and a nice oval-shaped face. She had a cute little mole on her cheek right above her lips which accentuated her face and blue eyes. Upon a closer look, she had tattoos of some sort on her arms and was wearing a green dress with white cloth apron tied in front.
Penta came close and smiled at her while she looked inquiringly at the young man. Everyone had been subtly staring at Penta since he entered due to curiousness at the barely covered Penta. Though his muscles did attract a few glances from the cute waitresses as they continued serving their customers.
Penta pointed at himself while speaking "Penta" and then at his bone boar and finally at the lady. The lady was surprised at the introduction but smiled and pointed at herself and said " Celia". She continued by pointing at the bone boar followed by the counter.
Penta understanding the gesture, he gently laid the boar on the counter and waited. He saw her inspecting it closely and then happily smiling she showed 2 fingers and Penta confused started signing with his hands and face that he was hungry by rubbing his stomach, made a fake pillow with his hands and finally used both hands and made them start talking to each other before he pointed at one hand and said: " Penta" and the other said:" Celia". Followed by even more sign language from his unskilled self as he tried asking her to teach him to talk.
Celia was blown away by the weird sign language made by Penta before she and the other customers burst out in laughter at the comical display that Penta was bringing forth. Seeing him trying so hard to get her to understand, she giggled while thinking he was a unique little guy especially after looking him over and considering he seemed to have been living in the mountains practically without a single scratch on his toned body and this perfectly killed bone boar.
"Penta!" She said which finally got him to stop trying to sign language at her and finally with a little smile said: "Okay" while nodding her head.
Seeing this Penta's eyes sparkled and he smiled before almost crying at how difficult this is. He nodded his head non-stop while smiling at her and then noticed a fork and knife like utensil on her side of the counter before grabbing them both to her surprise, smiling at her again and walking away.
Penta found an empty seat by the wall and just sat down while both his hands held a utensil each and he just smiled while his stomach growled like a ferocious beast alarming the entire Inn.
Celia seeing this couldn't help but giggle again while the other customers laughed in merry as well.
"Hahaha! Celia, you should hurry It seems I ain't the only one looking forward to a feast!" One of the customers yelled while drinking his mug while others chimed in to prepare for a feast too.
Celia shook her head at the unique guy and yelled to the back" Father! We got a big and fresh Bone boar, killed just today from the looks of it and everyone can't seem to wait!"
A man in his fifties can be seen walking in from the back and was wearing a white apron covered in some dirt and blood. He had a sharp look with short brown hair and a military-like body with a small scar under his left eye going towards his lips. Claud Turel saw the Bone boar and inspected it before commenting " Wow not even a scratch and it was killed so efficiently with just a snap of its neck. Who brought this? Claud asked his daughter as he lifted the boar in surprise.
Celia was also surprised when she first saw the boar so cleanly killed but still pointed towards the young man who had an expectant expression on his face while still holding both utensils firmly in each hand as they rested atop the table.
"Oh, what an odd-looking one. Seems he's quite hungry haha. Let's get the meat ready as to not make our guests wait then" Claud said as he smiled and dragged the boar to the kitchen in the back.
