Chapter 16 - 16 - Sword's Test

"Seems like we're fated." Magnus joked. Or did he?

Moonlight just nodded, this is not because she agreed but because she's too embarrassed to answer.

"Hmm, well lets start now. Have any idea to where we should start?" Magnus asked, then he turn on his conceal making his stats, level, and his face hidden. He then turned around, not facing Moonlight.

And this idea of his worked, Moonlight finally spoke with a professional tone at that. "I think we should head to the Arena of Legends, since this Dungeon is part of the Introduction Plot[1] and that place already existed long ago , there might NPCs who knows some things."

Magnus nodded, "Yeah, but travelling there would take a whole day. Well, that's if we won't meet any dangers. With mobs and stuffs we could at least travel for two days straight. Willing to take the small journey on?"

Moonlight hummed in agreement. The Arena of Legends has yet to open its function, its the only one in the entire world. Its located in the middle section of the Eastern Continents.

According to the history, this map played a huge role in the God Wars. If you search long enough, you would find out that this place is where the God's Servant fought.

A God's Servant is warrior who were chosen by the Gods of each continents. There could be at least five and at most ten in every continent.

Though in Gods War, the Gods of each nation is the main 'fighters', they wouldn't just recklessly fight each other as it could destroy the world itself. So instead they use fighters, but there are still sometimes that they would fight resulting huge craters and mysterious area that even the second strongest under the Gods wouldn't dare to venture.

The Arena of Legends alone could be considered a legend it self. After thousands of battles not a single speck of dust was moved. Even other God's themselves wondered how Kojmir, the God of Mechanical Arts, made this place.

For short in terms of crafts, no one even the other Gods could hold their candles against this monster called Kojmir. Even Miranda, the Goddess of Magic, an expert on [Enchantment Skill] was taught by Kojmir.

The journey from Azure Dragon City to Arena of Legends would be quite long, as Magnus said it could take a day if there's no interruptions.

They first would need to cross the Cave of Wanders, and after that there's no major place they would come by. This cave has a dungeon inside. No one has yet to clear it for one simple reason, level requirement. In order to enter the Dungeon one has to be at least Level 60.

Moonlight a rare grinding maniac is at Level 54 while Magnus is sadly at Level 47. Crossing this dark and gloomy cave is quite easy, one just had to use brute force. In order to enter you would need to force your way in, in order get out you would need to kill your way out.

Monster here is usually Level 50 while some rare mini boss is at Level 60. For the both of them, this monsters are joke. A complete joke.

The two of them stood in the entrance, after talking about their strategy they finally entered. It was dark, gloomy, and silent. Magnus held a torch as they slowly went depper, sounds of their footsteps are the only thing they could hear.

Suddenly, Magnus's acute senses detected danger ahead. And is was of course correct, they already saw a big silhouette. It was a huge bear, it's eyes are red as well as the streaks over his golden fur. It's teeth was revealed as it growled angrily, its a Berserk Bear. One of the Berserk Beast series, in this cave at least three types of Berserk Beast could be found.

A Berserl Bear, Berserk Leopard, and a Berserk Spider. Two things all Berserk Beasts have in common, one the red eyes and streaks on their body, and second is their insane damage.

Magnus immediately approached it with a kick, attracting its aggro. A minute later it was already dead, thanks to their simple strategy that is. Magnus would need to make the opponent stay in one place while Moonlight rain her arrows.

For this situation, this strategy is simple yet effective. Thanks to Magnus's senses and their compatibility in terms of combat their journey in crossing the Cave of Wanders was smooth, as smooth as Moonlight's legs.

Sometimes three or four monster would ganged up to them, but they could only last for utmost five minutes. An hour or so they're finally a quarter through, but something happened.

Magnus died, yes he died. This was actually not the first time he died, back when he was forging items he also died a couple of times. The reason was simple, the cursed sword. Not only it brings bad luck, it also has a drain effect. Every two hours he would lose 50 HP, he could only last 2 days and a few hours without heal.

How about healing potions, you may ask? No, there's no healing potion available yet in the game. The game was designed to never sell a single healing potion, a system generated one that is. Though there are various shops selling mana potion, that's just mana potion. When the players complained about it, the system only says 'The system specifically designed the game as it is. We leave the healing potions for Lifestyle Class's Apothecary to take advantage of.'

Yes, that's was there answer. The only problem is that does someone has the formula to craft one? Hehe, well Magnus has one but don't have the skill Apothecary yet.

Thus this issue has yet to be solved. Magnus resurrected after a minute[2] and went to explain Moonlight how he died. Moonlight was at first confused, but soon after she payed no attention to it. After the weakened state went off, they proceded their journey.

Two hours later and another 50 HP, but instead of annoyance it brought joy to Magnus. A system announcement came right after the sword took 50 HP.

[Retribution(Passive Skill) - Any abnormal status that is inflicted has 80% chance deflecting to the caster with 50% of its original effect. 20% chance of ignoring any abnormal status.]

As OP as it is, it was now in his hands. Just 20% chance of ignoring abnormal status is a complete game changer. Even when PvP its a skill players would die for. With this skill you could ignore stun effects, what does that serve? You can f*cking avoid deadly combos, annoying debuffs, and even HP drainer effects such as Burn effect and Poison effect.

That's not even talking about the 80% chance deflecting abnormal status with the caster. If both the effects triggered at the same time, instead of you being f*cked it would be the caster instead. With the help of his skill [Calm Mind] it f*cking made him partially immune to abnormal status.

'This was just the effect of painstakingly storing it in your inventory, what's more if one officially use it.' Magnus thought.

Magnus is now a bit interested in changing his sub class as Blademaster instead. You can gain such amazing skill in just storing it in your inventory. At first, Magnus didn't want to keep it in his inventory but he didn't decide so for a single reason, the sword is too valuable. A sword that doesn't show its Tier and its special effects then, that sword must be OP as f*ck. It even has a possibility of being a Legendary Tier weapon, who knows?

Without Moonlight noticing anything, they continued their journey. It went smoothly and all in all it took them approximately four hours crossing this cave. And without the sword's drain effect Magnus heart was at ease.

Next, they would need to traverse a mountain and finally they would arrive at the Arena of Legends.

...

Meanwhile, in the Arena of Legends. A guild, namely Divine Hand, is currently discussing another despicable scheme.

"Don't let anyone, any player pass the borders. Don't let anyone in, not until we finish our stuff here. Any member of the guild who lets anyone in will be deducted 5,000 GP, while the one who reported it, with evidence, would be awarded 5,000 GP. Understood?!" a player named 'Mad Man' shouted. Mad Man is a Divine Hand's Division Leader. He's the one leading this 5,000 or so army of players, and they plan to camp this area until they get something useful. Luckily, the area their base is situated is near the Arena of Legends thus they're the first ones here.

"Understood!" shouted crowds of crowds of players in unison.

"Sir, there's sightings of the Immortal Bloodline Sect members in the mountains." a player that is second-in-command reported.

"Hmm, how many of them?" Mad Man asked.

"Only 2, a beautiful lady with a bow and masked man with a sword floating near him."

"Hmmm, it might be their Guild Master, Mystic Warrior, and a core member ,namely Moonlight. They're experts, send people and ambush them. Don't let them near the Arena of Legends, if possible reduce them to Level 0." Mad Man commanded. The enmity between this two Guilds is growing by day, and the sole purpose is suppress their growth.

Even MasterMind knows that he can't fully destroy this guild in a short period of time. So the plan for now is to prevent their members from improving. Thus MasterMind made a killing order, any player from their guild[3] will have to be killed.

...

Magnus and Moonlight has no idea what trouble a hundred men will bring them. They're killing monster as they progress, as of now Magnus is currently Level 49 and Moonlight is at Level 55. Killing high level monster with the of them is as easy as pie. With the help of Magnus's kiting techniques and Moonlight's consistent high damage, monsters under Level 60 will last utmost a minute.

It would take at least half a day before they arrive at the top of this mountain they're climbing, that's if no problem arises... that's IF...

~~~~~~
[1 - Introduction Plot, basically the history of the game. Remember the God Wars? That's the one. Simply, this dungeon is just reliving that War. I don't know if this a spoiler, but nah.]
[2 - Resurrection after death, as what was said before, players that died in-game could choose two options in resurrecting. First, is to lose a level and be resurrected on the city. Second is to resurrect on your corpse and lose only 10% exp. However, choosing the latter will give the player a short 'weakened state' and could only use it after lying for a minute.]
[3 - Guild Identification, every player can see if someone is from a guild when checking his stats. Unless they have an item like Magnus's mask, its near impossible to hide it.]
