Chapter 111 - The Real Enemy, Part 2

"I'm not the real enemy here!" Even at the last minutes of his life, he tried to escape his death with an unbelievable lie.

"Your joke doesn't sell at all—"

"PLEASE! WAIT!" I stopped as he yelled before I can grab his head to smash it on the ground. "Please, listen. You need to hear this!"

"…fine, go ahead. So what the fuck do you want to say now?" I swear, if he spouts another ridiculous lie, I'll—

"We're not the real enemy here, we only cooperated to do this plan! There's someone else after your head, and he only used us to get rid of you."

…now that's interesting. I smirked and leaned closer. "I'm listening." It's almost like what he's saying is true. Or maybe it is. Either way, I don't get to face creative liars everyday so I might as well make the most out of this.

"Y-Yeah, yes! He's also the one who gave me the gun! T-The gun that you took from me, he intend to put only one bullet in it because he told me that it's only meant to be shot at you."

"And who the hell is this person you are talking about?" He can't even mention his damn name first. How the hell should I believe this non-sense?

Elijah looked hesitant to answer me, but he faced down and told me the name. "It's my cousin… Archer."

"Archer? There's a lot of fucking bastard named Archer. I'm not sure who you're talking about, unless it's the Archer of the—"

"Yes, the captain of the North Hunters. He's the one behind this!" I was stunned by the revelation, though I can't let myself be deceived by mere words. "You're kidding! Don't fuck with me, Elijah! I can fucking torture you before I kill you!"

"I'm telling the truth!! I WON'T RISK MY LIFE LIKE THIS! BELIEVE ME, IT'S THE TRUTH!"

I looked at Jin, and he also can't believe what he's hearing either. I sighed and lifted Elijah's face. "Give me a good reason why I should believe you? You can't even look at me in the eye."

"…b-because… I…" his eyes shifts down to the left, and his voice began to be shaky. "…I-I don't want to die. I-I exposed Archer s-so that you know who's your real enemy. It's not me, please! It's n-not me!"

"This is fucking ridiculous. You said it yourself earlier, you wanted to bathe me in acid until there's only my bones left. How can I not consider you a fucking enemy? Why should I even spare someone like you who attempted to murder me!? You think I'm a fucking idiot who'll believe you and let you off the hook?!"

"I'm sorry, I-I'm sorry! I didn't m-mean to do all of that! I never did! It was Archer! It was him who wanted to kill you! It was him!!"

"Then why the hell did you agree with his plan to kill me!?"

"B-Because! I wanted to get back at you! I-I was so b-blinded by anger that I can't help but tag along… i-it was out of spite man! I didn't know what I was thinking! I can't even bring myself to k-kill anyone! I was all talk! I can never bring myself to k-kill you nor anyone!"

"This is bullshit. I'm done with you." And again, he cried out. "THAT'S NOT ALL! IT'S NOT ALL OF IT YET! THERE'S MORE THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! SO DON'T K-KILL ME!!"

"What the fuck is it this time?! Are you going to bring up another infamous name in here? Gonna make up another story? You should've been a novel writer instead!"

"N-No! Please! Listen to me, listen!"

"Like hell I'll waste more time with you—"

"WHY DO YOU THINK WE KNEW WHERE YOU WERE?! COME ON! Haven't you notice how we figured out where to capture you?! And how we knew that you go to the convenience store when you're going to buy yourself some breakfast." I was almost gonna hit him until he made his point.

"…go on. Tell me." I ordered him.

"I-If you swear to let me go after this, I-I'll tell you! B-But I promise to never do anything or have anything to do with you ever again! J-Just please"

I sneered at his conditions. "Fine, I'll spare your life. So tell me, who's this accomplice of yours?"

Even if he didn't tell me, I already had someone in mind. Well… it was more like a gut feeling. So I still have him to tell me who it is just so I can confirm my suspicion. And as he spoke this person's name, I knew I was right. My gut feeling is undoubtable.

"Ren… are you sure you can trust his words?" Jin asked, he seemed to be hesitant in believing all of this.

"I don't trust him, but there can be truth behind what he told us."

"Then you think he really betrayed us!? Ren, he's—"

"Let's talk about that later." I cut Jin from further saying more. "I've got to take care of this last one first." And I cracked my knuckles before beating the heck out of Elijah for the last time. Also, as promised, I spared his life after feeling satisfied with beating him up.

I'll deal with traitor later.
