Lynn's pov
Right when class got over, Nay decided to walk with me for a bit. I also told him about the gang fight that's going to happen this afternoon, and he's seriously worried. "You should just make up an excuse, like you got sick or something."
"I can't do that, you saw me with Keto earlier didn't you? I already agreed and all, so I can't just ditch the guy."
"But what if you got terribly hurt or die from that gang fight?! We can't just let that happen!"
"Oh please, I've told you the times I fought. And I'm still alive. There's really nothing to be worried about."
Then he grabbed my arm and stopped me from moving. "Lynn, don't you know people die when they're at war. You won't be able to handle it if you see it infront of you with your own eyes."
"…I know… I'm aware that some dies when it happens." This is kinda stupid. Nay being protective over me. "As long as I'm not the one responsible for that death, then why should I care?!"
"Then what about the time there was a reformation in your gang!? Didn't you said you lost a lot of blood and even almost died?! What if you die this time?… there's no turning back on death, Lynn."
I already deemed this day to be one of my worst ones because of another gang fight happening later, but Nay is just making it worst for me. He's like a nagging mom who just won't stop. "Nay…" I spoke his name on a low tone. "…I'm not going to run away."
"Y-You're… you're so stubborn!"
"You don't have to worry, really. I'm not going to die." Plus, this is just a fight against some rookie gang. They might be just as weak as the Exitiums.
"Running away or being a coward isn't always a bad thing, you know." He mentioned.
I sneered as I look at him in the eye. "I don't think running away from a friend is a good thing."
Nay flinched as I reminded him of the time he turn his back on his friends when Ian was being bullied by another gang. "Are you for real? Do you really think of Keto as a friend? That guy is a gangster, and you're just his lackey! We're not so different, so if you could just listen to what I'm telling you!—"
"You know nothing about me, Nay. Nothing. So you don't have any rights to tell me what I should do!"
He got surprised as I yelled back at him. "I… I'm just worried about you, Lynn."
It made me step back from him a little before I can make him realize the truth. "You don't need to. You also don't even have anything to do with me. The one you're really friends with is my twin brother Lyde, not me."
For a brief moment, he got speechless while he staring at me.
"I see… if that's the case… then I won't be a bother to you anymore." Then Nay walked away.
It hit me that I might have gone a little too harsh on Nay, but I've got way more important things to do.
And as I got to the west bridge, almost everyone is there. "Lyde!" Ash called out to me.
"Hey! Have you seen Keto?" I asked.
He shook his head. "Not yet, maybe he'll be here a little later? Anyways… you look kind of upset. Did something bad happened?"
"Oh, uhm, it's nothing." I really hate how Nay had to argue with me at the wrong time.
"Err, okay? Let's just wait for the Ren and the others then."
"They're not here either?!" That's weird, they're always the first to be around at this kind of times.
"Yeah, it's just Damien and me right now."
Hmm, maybe they're just really late or something. And so we kept on waiting for the other heads of this gang. But there was something odd about today, they're really taking long. "…aren't they being too late for this? What if the other gang shows up?"
"Right, this is really odd. I wonder what happened to the others." Ash clearly had no idea where they are when he's already one of the heads of the group.
"Shouldn't you be informed since you're the third division leader?"
He gave me a bitter looking smile. "My rank is considered pretty low, so maybe they don't acknowledge me enough to inform me of important notices." Damn, that's rough.
"But you're the third division leader!"
"Like I said, I'm at a low rank. It's not so unusual to happen." Seems like Ash doesn't get enough respect from the other members.
What a pity.
"Let's just not talk about that. And since it seems like something wrong is going on, I think it's time for me to dismiss this pointless meet-up." He sighed.
"Ah, sure." It's good that the fight isn't going to happen today, it's just really weird for everyone to come for nothing. Or was this just a prank that Keto and the others pulled off?!
"ALRIGHT, EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!" Ash called out to all on us. "Seems like this meet-up was pointless, you all can go ahead now. I'll be the one to dismiss this shit."
"What?! We waited for nothing?!"
"What the fuck is wrong with the leaders?"
"This sucks. I'm leaving now."
It's such ashame that our efforts were wasted, and there was also my harsh argument with Nay too. Damn it, if I can just turn back time and let Nay's words slide.
"It's fine now, Lyde. You can go on your way now."
"Erm… okay, I guess I'll leave now." I really waited for nothing. And it's sick how Keto tricked me too. That damn jerk… maybe Nay was right.
Maybe I should've listened to Nay.
"…unless you want to go out for a drink?" He offered.
Since I really had nothing else to do— "Sure, I'll come along."
