Lynn's pov
"Does this mean you're free from the gang now?" Nay asked, smiling as he learned of what happened between Keto and I.
I sighed because I wasn't still so sure of it. "I don't know. How does a person leave a gang anyway? I think it shouldn't be this easy."
"Oh come on! It's the perfect opportunity to cut ties with the Wild Beasts. Other lackeys won't let this kind of chance slip away. It's better if you take advantage of the situation, use it as a reason to escape." He said convincingly and made me chuckle.
"You really want to get rid of me quickly, huh."
He got flustered while denying what I told him. "N-No! It's not about that, don't you think things will be better if you return to your usual self rather than pretending to be your brother?"
Not a bad idea but—"It's better not to leave some things unresolved. What if he comes back for me and he happens to deal with the real Lyde? I don't think my twin brother is capable of handling him."
"I can see that… I guess we should still keep on scheming for a way to get yourself officially out of the gang."
"Yeah, that's more like it!" The idea of letting things be is making me uncomfortable. There a lot of things I have to deal with. Other than worrying about Keto, I can't let this opportunity go to waste. While I still can, I'll earn as much as I can from these gang fights until I'm satisfied.
But of course, I can't let anyone know of it all.
Everything must go as I planned.
"You know, I've been getting this idea…" Nay brought up.
"Let's hear it."
"Ah yeah… how about you transfer here and be our classmate? I bet things will be way more fun with you along! All five of us can hang together." It was a nice suggestion, but I have to disagree with that.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I can do that." Just because I've been with them for a while doesn't mean I can completely stick with them. I also don't want anything to do with Lyde anymore, it's much better if we're seperated. I bet he feels the same when he's living my life for me right now.
Lyde must have already uncovered a lot of horrible things about me while he's pretending to be me.
"Eh? But… why?" Nay got confused, he looked so sure that I'll go along with his idea.
"You're all a bunch of guys, I'd like it better if I hang out with girl my age. Plus, people will think I'm some kind of whore for hanging out with a bunch of dudes."
"Don't mind what other people say! Who cares what they think, what's important is that we're all having fun together!" Nay sounds so childish, I wish I can be like him.
"Sure, sure. Let's get going now, the other two must be bored waiting for us." Right after we finished doing homework, we made our way to the front building's corridor where Ian and Ace are waiting. We all hang out at some arcade and ate at a fast food before going home.
Living Lyde's life right now isn't so bad. I finally get to experience living like a normal student without anyone trying to ruin my day. Although the following days, I began to see Keto around at school again. His suspension must have ended by now.
The guy isn't even looking for me anymore. And I kept thinking, will this be really the end? Does this mean that I'm not a part of the gang anymore??
Is this really it?
Though this haven't made me stop pretending as Lyde yet. Not until I confirm that my ties with the gang is cut off completely. "And maybe that goes for those generous pay I get from the Hawkin's Place." I sighed.
Unexpectedly, while I was on my way to my next class, I ran into Keto. He looked like he's in deep thoughts until he noticed me. "Oh, it's you." That's the only thing he said to someone who he haven't met for so long.
It pissed me off how he acted like that, so passed by him while ignoring him like how he ignored me before.
"That jerk is so annoying!" I muttered to myself. I'm so annoyed, and yet I can't help but notice how pitiful he seem to be right now.
Keto got some dark circles, he also looked thinner. Just what is happening to that guy? Does he not have anyone that take cares of him?
Then these days, I often see Keto around without him noticing me. It looked like he's finding someone to replace me, though most of those people he choose abandons him. Keto always ends up alone and eventually do what he needs by himself.
"Woah, people usually won't dare to ditch someone like Keto. What if he goes on a rampage and beat up those people?" I can't help but to utter, then some random person heard me and laughed.
"Are you talking about Keith Thompson?" Keith Thompson is Keto's real name, I almost forgot about that.
"O-Oh, yeah. Him."
"That bastard won't be acting so arrogant for long. I've heard from thugs in the same gang that Keto's position will be given away if he makes another mistake." Keto won't be second division leader anymore!? Is this because of what happened last time? "So the people he tries to order around doesn't take him that seriously anymore. Serves him right! He acted so high and mighty, and it's about time he gets what he deserves, don't you agree?"
"U-Uhh yeah, uh-huh." It's so uncomfortable talking about Keto like this. As the guy finally left, I glanced at Keto's direction to find him with his phone and some snacks at a corner like a loner. Such a pitiful sight.
