Chapter 76 - Black Winter, Part 3

Keto's pov

"Ash!!!" He was screaming in pain because of his broken arm, and the fucker who did it watched him with a smug look on his fucking face.

"You damn bastard!" I punched him at the back of his neck as soon as I reached him. I was confident that it'll knock the hell out of him, but the guy only tripped forward as if someone just pushed him.

"...who did that?" His deep voice echoed in my ears. "Was it you, little guy?..."

Ash managed to warn me— "KETO! RUN!!" —but it felt like it was too late.

"YOU FUCKIN' DOUCHEBAG!"

"Ah!!" With one swing of his arm towards my face, I was thrown back with just one punch.

It never occured to me 'til today, that I'll face someone with greater strength. "S-Shit!" I completely lost my balance and my vision is suddenly unclear. The pain is also sinking in slowly... how did it ever come to this?

"I-I don't understand... I..."

"My, my! Aren't you the infamous Keto?! To think you'd fall like that because of me—don't you think you're strength is overrated?" That damn guy chuckled mockingly.

"Damn it!" I'm going to end up like Ash at this rate. I gotta get up quickly before he—"Argh!" Now the stomach. Fuck! He's quick to strike.

"Hehe, aren't I amazing? Two division leaders fell because of me." That cocky shithead! If I can get back to my senses, then I'll make sure he'll stay on the ground forever.

Two voices called out to me, Ash and Lynn. Well this sucks, those two will see me get beaten for the first time. I think I won't be able to face them for a while, this is just embarassing... the Keto who everyone thinks so highly of is going to get beaten.

Keto might start to lose and fade from now on—then there will be only Keith Thompson left.

The average lame boring guy.

"Shit." This was all I'm proud of, and to think it'll end right here, right now. I regret not making the most of it.

"KETO THE LONE WOLF IS NO MORE!" My opponent announced.

There was nothing else I can do but to stay on the ground and bear the pain. Though I got confused when the next attack took too long. Did I already passed out?

No, I don't think I did.

Regaining my sight, his back was the first thing I saw.

Seeing him before me gave me hope. "JIN!"

"It's the first time I saw you laying like that Keto." He laughed.

"WHAT THE—" I didn't even notice that Jin was already holding that guy's fist like it was nothing. "—YOU PUNY SHIT! DON'T THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH INTERFERING!"

"Heh, I can't just let you have your way with my colleagues. I'm also your opponent, Rhys the Vice Commander of Black Winter." A vice commander, huh. He's really picking on people weaker than him.

"...quite impressive you know about me. I'll try going easy on you, pipsqueak." That arrogant punk! He think he can beat Jin!?

"YOU—"

"Shhh!" Suddenly, someone placed my head on their lap and hushed me. "We don't want to grab Rhys's attention."

"Lyde!"

"Ash is already taken care of, now it's your turn. So please follow me!" This was also the first time I had to retreat from a fight. I want to complain, but it'll only be a waste of time. My will to fight may still be raging on, my body says otherwise. "It's been such a long time since I felt this damn feeling."

"Lucky you. I always end up on that kind of state whenever gang fights happen." Lyde said.

No matter how disappointed I feel about myself, I guess it's inevitable to experience these kind of defeat.

Ren's pov

What a thrill!

We were both out of breath and covered in bruises. He has strength worth to be acknowledge, I'll give him that. However, It's already obvious who will win this shit.

"How funny, shall we continue this without taking a breather and end it quickly?"

"...you're a monster." He sighed exasperatedly. "You're barely panting, while I'm asphyxiated."

"Yeah... who was I kidding? This is no fun. It's boring as fuck." He can't move a muscle anymore, and didn't even bother running away as I approach him.

"You... win." He finally admitted.

"Let me end this quickly as thanks." The last thing he was able to do is widen his eyes from fear and shock. "N-No, I—"

And with the last punch I gave him, he fell on the ground unconcious.

The horns have rung, accompanied with a cheering crowd. There were those who were disappointed as well because of they probably put their bets on the wrong group.

I raised both of my arms as I taste this victory.

"WE HAVE A WINNER!! WILD BEASTS HAVE WON!!"
