Chapter 1 - My Twin Brother, Part 1

3rd Person's pov

It was in the middle of summer when it happened. Two old guys at a backyard were talking about their good old days while enjoying their cup of tea. "You know, my grandkids are twins. Even though they have different genders, they look exactly the same if one of them dresses like the other!" Said old man Tony.

His friend laughs and looked at him as if he was an idiot. "Of course they look exactly the same, they're identical twins! I can't believe that you grew old with your stupidity Tony. That's just sad."

"Stop pickin' fights you old fart, I'm just saying that because I'm still so amazed to have grandkids that were identical twins. Everytime I look at 'em, I feel nothing but happy. They're such good kids too."

"Hng. I don't really like talking about grandkids. My grandson doesn't even care about me."

Tony grinned at Dan as he reminded his friend of his very own stupidity. "Who wouldn't hate an old man like you? You kept saying infront of your grandson that you wanted a granddaughter instead, don't you? I can understand why your grandson won't even visit you."

"It's not that I didn't want him, I'm just demanding my kids to give me a granddaughter too!" Dan pouted.

"Hahaha!" Dan lightly (probably) punched Tony at the back for laughing at him. "Ouch! After all these years, you haven't changed at all! You're still that stupid violent thug."

"Well that's for laughing insensitively."

"Right, nevermind." Tony rolls his eyes and takes a sip on his tea. "Anyway, about my grandkids…"

"Didn't I tell you that I don't want to talk about that?" Tony didn't care about what Dan just said and continued.

"…I'm just worried about the other one. The kid is a wimp! I should've taught the child how to fight but—"

"Are you talking about your granddaughter? She's a girl, Tony. Girls don't fight."

Tony snorted. "I'm not talking about Lynn, I'm talking about Lyde!"

"Oh… ooohh. I see." Dan smirks at Tony. "I guess your grandson should learn from my grandson, I heard from his parents that he's a great fighter."

"Oh, you mean a thug just like his grandpa?"

"Atleast he ain't a wimp, hahaha!"

For the second time, Tony rolls his eyes at Dan. He was going for a savage comeback until he heard his phone ringing in the house. "How unexepected. Somebody's calling an old man at this hour, who could that be?"

"Who knows."

Tony answered the phone as soon as he got inside the house. "Yes, hello? Who is this?"

"…are you related to Lyde Pearson?" It was a woman's voice that asked on the other line.

"Y-Yes! That's my grandson, what do you need?" Tony suddenly felt uneasy about the call.

"I got your number from your grandson's phone and—"

"What happened to him!? Tell me!" Now Tony started panicking. He knows his grandson well, he would never let anyone get a hold of his phone. If anyone had gotten his phone, it would mean that something bad happened.

"He's been sent to the hospital and..." Tony kept listening to the woman on the other line to know more of what happened to Lyde. After getting the address of the hospital, Tony went straight there with Dan to support him.

Lynn's pov

I was in the middle of fixing my hair when my phone rang. I was going to end the call since I wasn't in a good mood but grandpa was the one calling. What's his deal now?

"Yeah? What is it?" I asked.

"Lynn!..."

"Grandpa, don't be so loud on the phone. Are you trying to damage my hearing?"

"It's Lyde! He's at the hospital!" My eyes widened at the news. What the hell happened to him?!

"...send me the address, I'll be there asap." I told grandpa. When I received the address, I tried to get there as fast as I can. My heart was beating too fast because my mind kept thinking all the possible things that could've happened to my stupid brother.

Uncle Dan was the first person I saw when I got there. He looks very serious which is a rare sight, this scared me because Lyde might have been in the worst state than I expect it would be. When we got infront of Lyde's room, Uncle Dan still haven't said a word to me and opened the room's door for me.

Grandpa was already inside the room, sitting near Lyde's bed. I held back the tears when I saw Lyde all beaten up and unconscious. "W-Who did this to my brother!?" I yelled out of anger. My whole body started trembling the longer I look at Lyde.

"The doctor said he'll recover soon, but it'll take a couple months for his right arm to completely heal." Grandpa told me.

"What about the person who's responsible for this!? I swear I'm gonna put that fucker in jail!"

"Lynn, calm down. There are already cops investigating about this. They also told me that it was lucky Lyde survived, some of his buddies were beaten to death."

"What!? My brother could've died!?"

Grandpa held my hand and reminded me to calm down once again. "...let's just be thankful that Lyde didn't end up like his other friends. So just calm yourself."

"But why would this happen to Lyde!? This clumsy nerd would never do anything that'll get him into trouble." Lyde's face was completely covered in bruises, his nose got bent, and most of his limbs were covered with bandages.

"Don't be too surprised, alright?..." Grandpa looked at me seriously. "...promise me you won't over react on this."

"O-Okay." I answered.

"Lyde got involved with some delinquents."
