" Your majesty, that's so kind of you to propose that I use the royal carriage home but I'm afraid that I'll have to decline your generous offer". He grinned at the emperor rather awkwardly.
" Why would you decline my request?" He asked with perseverance.
" I'm a humble person with a humble background. If people were to see me come out of the royal carriage, they might start making strange assumptions and that would be quite unpleasant for me. I ask that you try to understand my situation, your majesty, and not put me in a difficult spot". He humbly joined his hands before the emperor.
