Smoke billowed up from the ground as two figures shot out of the cloud of dust.
Wang Fan held in tightly to his injured bloody arm which was wrapped around the grand elder's shoulder.
A large gash was imbedded within his chest, blood constantly streaming from it.
Hacking out mouthfuls of blood, he struggled to draw in a breath as the two of them looked back at the smoke with horrified looks on their faces.
Although they couldn't see the figure of the person who caused them such injuries due to the dust, they could certainly hear him.
"Let this be a warning to you and the Wang Family! I'd you keep acting out, then even Zhou Wei wouldn't be able to stop me from destroying all of you! Now leave those people alone, else I'd be forced to give Wang Mu a visit."
With these menacing words trailing off, Xue Chang left the scenes, not even bother to look back to see if Wang Fan and the elder heard him.
He was positive that the message got across.
The grand elder didn't say a word for a good bit of time. And when he was sure that Yong Heng had truly left, the elder collapsed into all fours. Sweat gushing down his forehead.
"Grand elder… did he just use spiritual qi? Isn't that something only available for core forgers? Don't tell me that monster is a core forging expert!"
The elder shook his head in rejection.
"No that wasn't spiritual qi, it was saber intent!"
"Saber intent?" This was something Wang Fan had heard of before, but information about this subject was sparse so he didn't recognize it immediately.
The grand elder struggled to get up as he said, "In this continent, we have several stages to cultivation. Qi refinement, foundation establishment, core forging, nascent soul, and levels which I haven't even heard of yet. But what is cultivation if not training your body and spirit, one does not have to be good at martial arts to practice cultivation. Similarity one does not have to cultivate to practice martial arts."
The elder picked up Wang Fan and began to retreat in fear that the city guards might arrive soon and see them in their pathetic state.
"As such we have classifications for both of them. Martial arts are split into six stages. Martial warrior, master, lord, king, emperor, and god. Each levels allows even the most common human to commit superhuman actions. I once heard a martial god once battled a nascent soul expert to a standstill!"
These words frightened Wang Fan greatly. He himself had never witnessed a nascent soul in action before, but their family held many records of such beings. They were said to split the seas and destroy mountains, the temperature of the land didn't affect them, and they were supposedly able to explore beyond the clouds!
Yet a normal human was capable of fighting such a deity? It affected Wang Fan's understanding of the world greatly.
"Don't be so surprised Wang Fan, there are many unexplainable things in this world. This isn't anything surprising. But such beings are rare to come by, rising within a stage of martial arts unlocks power even cultivators like us would be envious of. Look at the adventurers at the guild, why are they able to fight monstrous beasts within the forest despite being mortals? Because they are all at least at the level of a martial warrior if not then they're probably practicing to be a cultivator. And that intent he displayed, it is the trademark sign of a martial master!"
This was a level of martial arts even Wang Mu had yet to reach. Even though he had fought and survived against level eight practitioners before, he was still just at the level of a martial warrior.
So discovering that Xue Chang was a martial master, something not even Wang Mu could achieved frightened the grand elder greatly.
Worst part was that before he unleashed his saber intent, Xue Chang only used his physical prowess to fight back against the elder.
This allowed the elder to come to a conclusion. In order to have been able to beat him back so easily, he would need to be at the seventh level of Qi refinement at least! Plus being a martial master…
The grand elder had to admit, his threat of destroying the family wasn't unwarranted.
"We need to go back Wang Fan, I think we need to see what Wang Mu makes of this situation."
Wang Fan had no words to describe how he felt. But for the first time ever, he started to suspect if he made a mistake offending those hunters.
While it was unknown what Wang Mu thought of the threat and situation, it was true that after this the Wang Family became even more quiet than usual.
