They needed to figure out how to end this as soon as possible. And Xue Chang already knew what to do. He was hoping the asura would be able to provide some assistance like it did before.
Looking at the puppy beside him, Xue Chang gave it a whisper to go. Yet it just sat there and cocked its head to the side signaling that it didn't understand what he said.
This caused Xue Chang to realize something. He really had no way to communicate with the asura did he?
Well "thousand armed asura" was supposed to allow him to use its strength, but how would he even do that? In fact Yong Heng had told him that his connection to the creature would grow and he would be able to obtain more of its powers as they grew closer together. As he obtained more of an understanding of the strange animal before him, the power he could borrow from it would increase.
But wouldn't that be difficult to do with the language barrier?
Xue Chang was sure that there must have been a way to communicate. Unless Yong Heng was just bullshitting him.
Now that he thought of it, Xue Chang didn't think it was impossible for that to be the case.
The puppy just continued to gaze at him with its night sky-like eyes. Its hazy stare definitely contained intelligence, undoubtedly it was much smarter than one would expect.
Yet Yong Heng revealed that asuras had no spoken language and weren't the type to learn other spoken languages either.
So how did Asuras communicate?
This question swirled around his mind for a second before a small theory suddenly popped into his head.
Quickly, using his abilities to suppress his own presence from the sight of others, he brought his hands together and formed several symbols.
"Thousand armed asura" activated as a thin string trailed out of his forehead and floated towards the asura.
He distinctly remembered a voice back in the strange space when he went into seclusion. If his theory was right, and this is the same asura that made that noise back then, then maybe they communicated through consciousness?
At first he used the line of consciousness as a fishing line to search for asuras, but now that he found one, what if he connected it?
It was like tying a leash around a dog rather than using bait to catch a fish. Which considering the asura's current form seemed oddly appropriate.
The string weaved itself around the puppy's body and its tip slithered to the back of its head.
And in one smooth motion, the tip of the string pierced into the puppy's spinal cord without any resistance.
Xue Chang did not expect his experiment to go so smoothly. In fact, it was so simple to do the task that he wondered if his theory was right or did he do something useless and that was why it was so easy to connect his consciousness to the asura's.
But his worry quickly faded away as, not a voice but, a sort of intention was transferred into his brain.
"What should I do?"
________
The fight was neither difficult nor easy for Tian Kai.
More than anything, he found it quite aggravating. Especially as he could tell that the leader of the guards and Wang Fan were just about even in strength.
But if anything were to tip the scales in Wang Fan's favor then it would put him and Xue Chang in a precarious situation.
That's why he wanted to finish off the bothersome people on his side before going to help the guard leader.
Wang Fan gaining an advantage would be bad for him, but if the other side got the advantage…
Then things could work out for them.
Taking a step forward and narrowly avoiding another punch, Tian Hai side stepped and sent his leg flying upward into one of his opponent's groin. It wasn't like he was playing dirty. One had to be prepared for anything during a fight.
The force of the impact seemed to have caved in the person's "marbles" as their face became ashen and blood was released from inside their mouth.
Rubbing the back of his head he sighed to himself, "This is really getting tiring."
Although his energy reserves were higher than most people thanks to being an elemental cultivator, fighting a group by himself was still quite taxing.
"If only I had a spear, then these people wouldn't even be enough for a warmup…"
He was actually quite gifted with the spear. Although all of the techniques he learned were very basic and simple, they contained a frightening amount of power.
Of course Xue Chang probably hadn't noticed, but Tian Kai noted that what they were learning was going beyond what most martial arts were capable of.
He didn't know where the confidence came from, but he felt like if he used his spear techniques as a slightly above average mortal then it wouldn't be impossible for him to defeat a level one Qi refiner.
That was what Tian Kai had noticed. The arts that Xue Chang appeared to be creating went beyond normal techniques.
They actually held an in-depth comprehension of battle tactics inside of them. It wasn't something that should be so easy to learn.
Yet this young master of his taught them so easily.
Maybe even Lou Lan and Lou Ning haven't noticed. But if they ever got into a serious fight with anyone and used their techniques, even they would understand the insanity of what they learned.
That was why he felt that if he had a spear it would be simple to defeat everyone present.
Moving his feet around in a mysterious pattern, Tian Kai easily evaded everything Wang Fan's men threw at him.
Luckily things like this didn't require a spear to use so it was easy for him to use such martial arts, but it wasn't as if his stamina was infinite.
A shriek of pain disturbed his concentration for a second.
"Be careful, that dog is weird!" The scream of the militiaman that Tian Kai met back in the market brought his attention over to where the yelp came from.
Someone who wore the equipment of Wang Fan's group was on the ground crying out in pain. It was someone Tian Kai realized he hadn't fought yet. It was a bit strange that he wasn't participating in the fight.
Biting in his heel was the puppy Xue Chang brought with him.
He remembered the odd sight of the animal biting at the militiamen before.
At the time he also thought they're reaction was a little strange, but maybe it was this puppy that was actually the strange one?
No.
This Asura.
Although he still didn't really understand what that was, he knew it must've been something special for even Xue Chang to put up so much effort for it.
Speaking of which he realized why he didn't recognize the fallen person. It probably had something to do with Xue Chang acting.
Although it looked like Xue Chang was just hiding over to the side, Tian Kai knew better than to underestimate him.
That young master of his was quite the person you know?
But what surprised Tian Kai more than the puppy or the collapsed warrior was what sat beside him.
Quickly jumping back to avoid a sword as it swiped by where his head used to be, Tian Kai landed right next to the puppy, who gazed at him with a mysterious look in its eyes.
Although Tian Kai was a little mad that it had eaten something he worked so hard for, it's current action almost made up for its past mistakes.
Almost.
Giving the small animal a soft pat on its head, Tian Kai smiled brilliantly as he reached down to what was beside it.
"Who would've thought this guy was a spear user like me?"
Picking up the iron spear right beside him, he allowed the light of the sun to reflect off of its blade.
"Heh, better than nothing." Although it was just a new low quality iron spear, that couldn't even be compared to his old spear that had been in his possession for years, Tian Kai was still quite satisfied with the results.
"Time for a little fun." Giggling to himself, Tian Kai prepped his spear in order to properly fight against his enemies…
No, rather he prepped the equipment he needed to use for the sheep who were foolishly approaching the slaughter.
Tian Kai was getting into the groove.
