"Calm down now everyone, you're all giving off a lot pressure here." Xue Mei chortled her son and husband as they kneeled there beside her obeying her every whims and needs.
If she said she felt uncomfortable, soft cushions, fluffy fur blankets, and a slow massage was what met her in response.
If she said she felt a bit thirsty, a multitude of different drinks and beverages would be placed in front of her.
In fact, she wouldn't be surprised if she said she needed fresh air and the two of them broke down the walls of the house to let in a fresh draft.
She knew that they were worried about her and the baby's health, but this was a bit much.
Sighing to herself, she got up from her seat and thought about the work she had to do today.
"Honey, what are you doing?" Zhou Wei was surprised by his wife's sudden action.
"I have a lot of work to do, better finish them all early for the main events."
Just as Zhou Wei was about to protest, he forcefully silenced himself due to the frightful glare being given off by his wife.
"Don't even try to say 'you shouldn't be working right now'. We have so much paperwork piled up and if I don't do it, then who will. And don't even say you will, you are barely getting through your own work as it is much less my share as well."
Zhou Wei was frozen in place, unable to dispute her words.
There really was a lot of stuff they had to do, they could not just wait till the baby was born. They had to start doing their jobs again soon.
Seeing the anxious expression on her husband's face, Xue Mei wrapped her dainty arms around his head and whispered,
"You don't have to worry about me so much. This isn't the first time I've gone through with this. And I won't be as aggressive as I was when our sons came into our lives. After all, our daughter is going to be a proper lady."
Back when Xue Mei was bearing Xue Chang and Xue Hai, Xue Mei struggled to keep her life intact.
She refused to take any breaks and insisted on taking care of many family matters, much to the distress of her father and husband.
Xue Mei was a strong woman, who was confident in her body and health. But this time she was acting differently.
"I don't want any of my kids to suffer again."
She whispered this while staring at Xue Chang lovingly.
Xue Chang just blushed slightly. He was glad that she was his mother and that Zhou Weu was his father.
Although they couldn't be together often, whenever they were together he could feel their love for him.
"Actually Xue Chang, you came at the perfect time!"
Suddenly Xue Mei turned to face her son excitedly.
She explain how according to Zhou Wei, Wu Jie should be undergoing his breakthrough soon.
It's been several months already and it was only now he was getting out of seclusion and reaching the ninth level. It was a very important day for all of them.
"Chang'er, head over there and bring your uncle back here. All of us, and even your 'guards' over there should eat together. As a family."
Xue Chang happily hit up and left the room to get Wu Jie.
He wondered how his uncle was doing, he hasn't seen him for a while now.
But before he could reach Wu Jie's seclusion room, Yong Heng's voice rang in his head.
"This is a good chance actually."
"A good chance for what?"
Yong Heng's laughter rang out, "If your uncle is making a breakthrough to the ninth level, then why don't we give him a bit of help. Take the moonlit jade you have with you and prepare to use it."
Surprise could be seen etched into Xue Chang's face, he never expected that Yong Heng wanted to use the jade to assist Wu Jie in his breakthrough.
"I thought you really wanted the jade?"
"No" Yong Heng laughed, "The jade is useless to me. I desire whatever it is inside of the jade."
"There is something in the statue?"
This was the first time Xue Chang was hearing about this. He never really did explore what was so special about the jade that even Yong Heng was desperate to get his hands on it.
"Yes, something special is hidden inside of there."
"What is it?"
Yet to Xue Chang's surprise, Yong Heng stated he didn't know what it was.
"This is a first, you not knowing about something. Seems like you aren't all knowing like you led yourself to believe."
Yong Heng snorted, "Don't underestimate me fool, in a normal situation I would recognize the object immediately, but because of my memory loss it's a little bit harder. Give me some time and I'll get it eventually."
"Sure sure."
Xue Chang shrugged as he pulled the small statue out of the cloth purse hanging by his waist.
Spinning it around his hands, he couldn't help but admire it a little. The craftsmanship was immaculate.
Tossing it up and down, he questioned, "So what do you plan to do?"
"Well first, we need to make it into something that is easier to ingest. So you're going to need to smash it."
"Huh?"
"Smash it!"
