Chapter 50 - Less than Half a Year

The white blade reacted violently once it was unsheathed.

It was the strange weapon given to Tian Hai after meeting with the weird Xue Chang.

In the last three months, he had studied the sword quite a bit. Each time trying to figure out what is was.

All he knew was that it came from the lightning dragon and that it was made from something called a Yin Line.

And he also knew the weapon was chilling to the touch. Every time he gripped it, his arm felt numbed due to the cold.

But something inside of him just wouldn't allow him to get rid of the blade. He felt that if he were to get rid of the sword, he would regret it forever.

As such he spent a lot of time fighting with it to get use to its reactions.

"Hmm what is that blade?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Starting off the fight with a casual sentence, Tian Hai chuckled to himself as his body suddenly shot forward and immediately closed the distance between him and the mysterious attacker.

With a single swing of his blade, a whistling sound rung through the air as Tian Hai targeted the man's upper thigh.

~Clang

Sparks flew as a saber appeared within the figures hand and intercepted the white sword.

Tian Hai immediately retreated a few steps before setting himself back into a stance.

"If seems you aren't weak."

A swift kick from the figure flew toward his head, which Tian Hai narrowly dodgers he brought his fist around and gave a single punch to the man's stomach.

The man reeled in pain as he growled out in anger, "You'll pay for that!"

His saber swung around toward Tian Hai's neck. In response he took his white blade and slammed the butt of its hilt on the face of the saber's blade, pushing it away from him.

The two cultivators stepped back as they stared each other down after this short exchange.

Tian Hai knew the other man was strong. Lou Lan had already revealed that he was someone in the second level of Qi refinement, so of course it was supposed to be a difficult fight.

But Tian Hai was no slouch either.

"How is Tian Hai able to keep up with him, that's someone within the second level! It's not like those other thugs who barely made it to the first level using a ton of pills and supplements."

Lou Ning, who was brought over to Lou Lan's side by Tian Kai, couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Even using all of her strength, she couldn't even cause the man to break a sweat.

Yet Tian Hai, who she could sense was at the same level as her, kept up easily.

Tian Kai smirked at her reaction to his brother's strength.

"Tian Hai isn't like other cultivators. Look a little closer and you should be able to tell what's so different about him."

Lou Ning peered over the the back of the figure fighting in front of them but she couldn't tell what was so different.

Suddenly a weak voice rang out from behind him, "He's dual cultivating..."

Lou Lan stood before them with his injured arm propped up.

"Lou Lan! What are you doing, don't overexert yourself!"

Lou Ning quickly ran over to her cousin and wrapped his arms around her shoulders for support.

"Don't worry, the bleeding had stopped and there's only only a small throbbing pain left. It's like a miracle."

"Start worshipping me as the god who brought that miracle then."

Xue Chang had used a portion of his powers to suppress the wounds within Lou Lan. While it wouldn't heal him, it did improve his condition immensely.

"Lou Lan is right, Tian Hai had chosen a strange path for himself. Unlike most people who would cultivate internally or physically first and then start the other one later, Tian Hai had chosen to be a proper dual cultivator. He is doing both at the same time."

Hearing this unexpected news from Xue Chang, Lou Ning couldn't help but ask, "Then what level is he at now?"

"Well Tian Hai seems to have some body cultivating talent, and it is even greater than his internal cultivating talent. Right now... he's at-"

Another clear clash of weapons rang out interrupting Xue Chang for a moment.

The intruder had tried using a saber technique to strike at Tian Hai but he was met with retaliation.

"Impossible! That was Crescent Slash! It's a basic saber technique, how could someone with a sword possibly use it!"

A small smirk could be seen in Tian Hai's face as he said, "I have an incredible master."

Lifting up the blade in his hand, Tian Hai slowly pulled his arm back while pointing the tip toward the intruder lightly.

Taking in a deep breath he lightly allowed the his elemental energy to boil within his body.

"Now if you're so shocked by Crescent Slash, wait till you see this."

The muscles in his body tightened and rumbled with every move he made. The ground trembled from a single step and the blade in his hand released a low humming sound.

The humming sound got louder as a thin what looked like blue lightning streaked across the surface of the blade.

And the feeling of a predator stalking its prey washed over the intruder.

"Yin Line, strike down my enemy!"

As if heeding the call of its master, a thunderous roar shot out of the blade as with a single thrust a single bolt of lightning shot out of the blade and flew toward the intruder.

The man retreated with haste, a look of horror covering his face. He used all of his strength to release the greatest speed he could muster to escape.

But despite giving his all, there was no way he could be faster than that bolt of lightning.

It struck him squarely in the chest, shocking his body and petrifying him for a split second.

And this gave Tian Hai all the time he needed to shoot forward and plunged the blade right into the man's chest.

Light faded from the his eyes and unbeknownst to anyone there, a small lob of light shot from the man's body and directly into Xue Chang's chest.

Witnessing the end of a short but grand battle, Xue Chang took this chance to finally finish his words, "-the first level of internal and body cultivation. And his practice time? Less than half a year!"
