Tuesday
Shiro was sitting in the passenger seat, and he was silent. He was so nervous that it felt like he was going to pass out. His hands grabbed his knees, and Deion, who was driving the car, glanced at him, put his hand over Shiros and squeezed it gently.
"Talk to me, Shiro. Are you nervous about how Dorian and Finian will react?"
But to Deion's surprise, Shiro shook his head.
"No, I'm not worried about that anymore. I know they will be happy."
Shiro was sure about that. Dorian loved him, and Finian was his friend and far too kind for this world.
"So, what's the matter then?"
"What if something's wrong? Just like it was with Ikumi."
Ikumi didn't grow as she should have, and they had to start the delivery ten weeks before the estimated date. Ikumi's first two months they spent at the hospital, and Shiro and Kei had been overwhelmed with anxiety and fear without knowing what to do. Shiro didn't want to go through that again.
"Don't worry. Even if there are complications, which I don't think there will be, we are all there for you. You aren't alone, buddy."
Shiro immediately felt a little more hopeful. Deion always managed to calm him; he really was a great manager and friend.
During the rest of the twenty-minute drive to the omega hospital, the two men talked about Joy. Deion had met Joy's children for the first time two days earlier, and according to the woman, the children had really liked their mother's new boyfriend. Shiro thought that Deion sounded so much like a teenager in love that he couldn't help but tease him a little. But Shiro was happy for his friend. Deion had always prioritized Shiro and Shiro's career before his own love life, and Shiro hadn't even seen Deion with a partner. His last relationship ended before Deion became Shiro's manager, and Shiro knew that Deion wanted his own family.
After they parked the car in the hospital garage, Shiro began to feel nervous again. Deion noticed this and took Shiro's hand in his while giving him a soft smile. As if to tell him that everything was going to be alright.
"I still can't believe that you're pregnant even though you took contraceptives. You didn't forget to take them, did you?"
Shiro shook his head. He was always careful to take his pills.
"Not once."
"Strange," Deion said, and Shiro agreed. It was indeed strange.
Shiro wore a black cap and kept his gaze down. He didn't want to be recognized by anyone. However, they didn't have to wait long until Joy entered the waiting room, and with a gentle smile, she waved at them to come without saying anything. They kept quiet as they continued down the corridor, but as soon as they entered the examination room, Joy turned to Deion, grabbed the front of his black shirt, pulled him to her and kissed him hard. Shiro quickly looked away while he blushed and grinned at the same time.
Deion was surprised, but when Joy released his lips, the alpha kissed her forehead and smiled tenderly.
"I missed you too, honey."
Shiro didn't say anything, but it was hard not to. He knew that Deion and Joy had only been apart for less than six hours. But Shiro thought they were cute, so he let them be.
Joy turned to Shiro. She didn't seem to care at all that Shiro had seen them kiss. She looked completely unaffected.
"Shall we start?" She asked, pointing to the bed.
Shiro nodded and lay down on the hospital bed. Next to it stood the ultrasound machine, and Shiro looked at it nervously.
"Pull up your shirt."
Shiro quickly pulled up his shirt. For now, the smooth stomach showed no signs that Shiro was pregnant.
"It can feel a little cold."
The gel was really cold, and Shiro jerked. Deion was immediately by his side, and once again, he took Shiro's hand in his, which made Joy smile, and she looked at her boyfriend with a tender gaze before she took the probe and held it against Shiro's stomach. Her expression was serious as she examined the screen. Joy frowned, leaned against the monitor, and pressed various keys on the keyboard. Shiro's heart pounded in his chest as he looked at the woman with brown, curly hair. Deion's grip on his hand tightened, and Shiro looked at the other man, but Deion stared at Joy, and he looked worried. Shiro closed his eyes. He wanted to go home.
The atmosphere was very tense, and when Joy suddenly burst out laughing, Shiro opened her eyes in shock. He stared at the laughing woman who giggled so much that her whole body shook and tears formed in her eyes.
"What is it?" Surprised, Deion asked in a loud voice, and Shiro couldn't even speak. He was too scared.
Joy turned to them and wiped the tears that ran down her cheeks
"Sorry, but this is just so typical of Dorian that I couldn't stop myself."
"Typical of Dorian?" Shiro was confused.
Joy turned the screen towards them and grinned broadly.
"Look at the screen."
Joy pointed her finger.
"One."
She moved her finger slightly to the left.
"Two."
And a little more to the left again.
"Three."
It became completely silent. Nothing could be heard at all, and Deion and Shiro just stared at the screen.
"This is nothing but a scientific wonder. No omega or alpha has ever had triplets. Just betas."
"Triplets?"
"Yes. And they are about seven weeks."
"Are you sure?" Deion asked, sounding just as shocked as Shiro was feeling.
"Yes, darling, I'm sure."
"Oh my God!" Shiro shouted. His eyes were huge as he stared at the screen. He could clearly see them, three little beans.
"Is it really that unusual to have more than one child?" Deion asked while Shiro still couldn't speak.
"Yes, it really is. I would like to dissect Dorian and see how the hell his body is built. I mean, first, he manages to get a dominant alpha pregnant three times and now triplets. It's amazing," Joy said, and her eyes radiated excitement.
She turned her gaze towards the two men who stared wide-eyed at her.
"I mean, maybe not dissecting, that would be awful, but examine him!" She quickly added and cleared her throat with a playful grin on her face.
"Deion also told me that you use contraceptives."
"Yeah," Shiro just mumbled, and Joy shook her head.
"That's a prime alpha for you. Well, everything looks fine, but we need to do regular checks. Since this is something new, I honestly don't know how your body will handle this, so we need to monitor your pregnancy closely so that both you and your children are safe."
When Joy saw the almost paralyzing fear on Shiro's face, she walked up to him, put her hand on his shoulder and smiled. It was a confident and reassuring smile.
"I understand that you are overwhelmed and scared, but don't forget that a lot of people care about you and wants to help you. These children are very lucky because they will have the best family in the world. They will get so much love from so many."
Shiro looked at Deion, who was nodding.
"Thank you both."
Shiro was grateful for Joy's comforting words and confident attitude. And he felt a little calmer for talking to Dorian and Finian, but he was still a little nervous. What would Finian say?
Shiro and Finian looked at each other. Shiro, who was sitting on the sofa, was so nervous that he was sweating. And Finian was in his armchair, and he had a blank expression on his face. The two men were alone in the house, and Shiro had just told Finian that he was pregnant.
They sat like that for a minute, but for Shiro, it felt like an eternity.
"You are pregnant?"
"Yes."
"With triplets?"
"Yes."
Finian looked as if he couldn't believe what he just had heard, but suddenly he burst out laughing, just as Joy had done, shaking his head with a smile that filled his face. Finian stood up, walked to the sofa, sat down next to Shiro and hugged him tightly. Shiro was stunned and couldn't move.
"It's amazing. Congratulations!"
"Is it really okay?" Shiro asked with a shivering voice.
Finian let go of him, and the expression on his handsome face was tender. Shiro could see that he was happy.
"Of course it is. Our family is growing. How could I not be happy!"
Shiro stared at Finian, thinking once again that Finian was the strangest person he had ever met. Kind, but strange.
"You have to tell Dorian as soon as he gets home."
"Will he be happy about it?"
"Sweetie, it's Dorian we're talking about. He will be ecstatic."
Shiro thought so too, but you could never be really sure.
The blond alpha came home just a few minutes later, and in his hand, he held a large non-alcoholic champagne bottle, and he had a huge grin on his face.
Both Shiro and Finian stared at Dorian, completely baffled. Dorian didn't notice, he was too busy feeling happy to be home, and he quickly approached his lovers. Dorian kissed their cheeks. Finian was the first to react, and he frowned.
"What's the occasion?"
Dorian looked at Shiro and took his mates smaller hands in his. Shiro's heart pounded nervously in his chest. Had Dorian somehow found out about the pregnancy? Had Joy said something? Or Deion. But he knew that they would never do such a thing.
"Shiro, Luv. 'That smile' tops the UK Singles Chart," Dorian cheered.
"For real?" Shiro shouted. He couldn't believe it.
"Yeah, babe, for real!"
Shiro squealed and threw himself at Dorian, who took Shiro in his arms.
"I'll go and get the glasses," Finian said and glanced at Shiro with a look that told the omega that he should reveal the news now.
Shiro was no longer nervous, he was so incredibly happy, and he felt so safe and loved in Dorian's strong arms. He leaned his head on Dorian's shoulder, and with a soft voice, he whispered into Dorian's ear.
"Mate, I'm pregnant."
Dorian flinched and looked at Shiro. His eyes were huge.
"You are?"
"Yeah. With triplets."
"No way!"
Shiro nodded and waited for the answer. And he didn't have to wait long. Dorian suddenly kissed him so hard that Shiro lost his breath, and he gasped when Dorian released his lips.
"Triplets?"
"Yes, we're going to have triplets."
Tears filled the alpha's eyes, and he put his lips to Shiro's again. Kissing him eagerly. Shiro held on to Dorian. This time he kissed Dorian just as passionately. He could taste the salty tears, and he realized that Dorian was crying.
Shiro wished he could memorize Dorian's expression so he would never forget it. Dorian's beautiful smile and clear blue eyes beamed with happiness as he looked at his mate. Tears slowly fell down his cheeks, but Shiro knew it was tears of joy.
At that moment, Finian returned to the room and carried three crystal glasses. He stopped and looked at them. His smile was tender.
"You knew?" Dorian asked.
"Yes."
The blond man laughed and shook his head.
"Of course you did. Come here."
Finian got to Shiro's side, and as he stood there in front of Dorian, his husband went down on his knees. He first caressed Finian's round belly and kissed it. Then he turned to Shiro and did the same. The tears continued to fall, but there was a bright smile on his face.
"I'm the happiest man in the world. And it's all thanks to you two. Thank you. I love you both so much."
Finian and Shiro looked at their beloved. Their gaze was filled with love and gratitude towards this man who meant the world to them. And Shiro knew he would remember this Tuesday as one of the happiest days in his life.
