Everyone in the event hall stood there in shock as they watched Azriel's fiancee went limp on his arms. Azriel's men immediately took action and led their boss outside. "Drive to the hospital! Quick!" Azriel immediately said to his driver when they got inside the car. The driver immediately stepped on it and drove out of the venue.
They reached the hospital in 13 minutes, Azriel carried Nesryn towards the emergency room and the nurses immediately fussed over her. He was told to wait on the side while they did her examinations.
An hour and a half later, Nesryn was wheeled in a hospital room and under an IV, Azriel went in her room "There's no major complications on her body though she's suffering from anemia. Mostly caused by fatigue. Before you brought her here, was she pale? cold? Weak? Dizzy?"
Alastair nodded to each symptom and the doctor noted it down. "We also noticed the bruises on her feet, do you know what happened?"
"She's been wearing high heels since this afternoon, higher than what she usually wears. She stumbled earlier but she said it didn't hurt" the doctor nodded, took down notes "for now, she must remain in the hospital till she recovers, please excuse me" the doctor said and Azriel shook his hand and walked him to the door.
He thanked the doctor once again and closed the door, he walked back to Nesryn's side and pulled a chair. "You said you're fine" Azriel pouted at her unconscious form, his eyes drifting towards her very bruised feet
"This shouldn't be this bad" his eyebrows furrowed but decided to let it go. He stayed by her side the whole night, waiting for her to wake up. Azriel eventually fell asleep near Nesryn's right hand.
Nesryn woke up the next day, she hissed and quickly shut her eyes, not used to the bright room. After a few minutes, she abruptly blinked her eyes to get used to the room's lighting. She turned her head on the left side to see the window slightly opened and cold air blew in. "C-C" she tried to croak out but her throat was so dry.
She tried to speak again but failed miserably, due to her movements, Azriel was quickly woken up and was immediately on his feet. "Nes?" he called out and she focused her eyes on him "Wa-wa" she wasn't able to finish her word but Azriel immediately understood and poured a cup of water from the nearby pitcher. He helped her drink the water, wiping the spilled ones with his hands.
"Thanks" she managed to whisper out and Azriel sent her a smile, placing the cup back down on the table and sitting back on his chair. "How are you feeling? You scared me last night when you suddenly collapsed" Azriel said looking at her with sad eyes. Nesryn avoided his gaze and instead focused her eyes in the view outside the window.
"I also saw your feet, they were so bruised" Nesryn unconsciously tucked her feet under the blanket "Is everything alright Nesryn?" she took a deep breath and faced Azriel with a smile. "Everything's fine, I am just...anemic" she tried to reassure the man but Azriel knew women better and her pause said otherwise.
He decided not to pry anymore "I'll be having a week off from the office starting today so you can rest alright?" Azriel asked.
Nesryn frantically shook her head "I am fine sir, there's no need" Azriel just sent her a look and she immediately looked away "The doctor said you collapsed due to anemia, fatigue and stress, that's why I will be not going to the office once we're back, so you can rest in your apartment" he said with his tone filled finality and his eyes sharp as if daring her to talk back.
She rolled her eyes and looked away, not muttering a single word towards her boss. The doctor eventually came back and cleared her, 2 hours after lunch. They removed her IV and Azriel helped her in the car.
The drive home was extremely awkward, no one said a word and the driver was fidgeting up front, noticing the tension between his boss and the secretary.
He opened the car door once they arrived at the hotel they were using, their flight back home was scheduled today at 5pm, they only have less than 2 hours left to pack and prepare. Nesryn immediately packed her things and made sure every document they brought with them was in her luggage.
After changing her clothes and making a last sweep in her room, she walked out, luggage on hand.
She placed her bag by the door and walked to her boss's room and immediately helped him with the files in her room, ignoring his protests. "We'll be late, if we still work on your pace, please pack your things, I'll handle the files" she softly said to the man, who grunted and walked in the closet to pack his things.
She only needed 20 minutes to arrange everything in his room and had even time to fix his bed.
The two and their three guards descended the hotel floors via the elevator, Nesryn took it as her job to check out, despite Azriel's angry mumbling. They boarded 2 different cars and were well on their way to the airport where the company's private plane was waiting on standby.
Their 10-hour flight back to America was used for working, particularly on Azriel's side as he read through contracts that he brought with him.
On the other side of the plane sat Nesryn with her arms crossed and mouth formed in a pout. Her boss just banned her from doing any work for a whole week and she was bored. An evil smile made its way on her face and you could literally see a lightbulb lighting up at the top of her head. She silently pulled out her iPad and phone from her handbag and quietly worked, turning her back against Azriel.
No one could blame her though, her desire to work was much more evident than her need for rest. Everyone on their floor made her the ideal role model in the office, everybody strived to be her but only she can pull it off. Not to mention, she wasn't swept off her feet by their boss.
Nesryn eventually fell asleep in her seat and Azriel caught her working but decided to pretend that he didn't see it. He took the iPad from her hands and placed it inside her bag whilst asking the stewardess for a blanket.
He wrapped the thick blanket around her sleeping figure and told the stewardess to have the lights dimmed as he sat back down and leaned back to sleep as well.
They were boh woken up 5 hours later for their meal, each was served a 3 course meal, after eating, Azriel went back to working whilst Nesryn went back to sleep.
The plane touched down back to their country at 5 am, Azriel woke her up and they left the airport. "Nesryn's apartment first" he's morning voice boomed inside the silent car as the driver nodded.
Azriel kept glancing in her direction, wondering why she seemed mad at him. He was so deep in thought that he can't seem to hear the voice calling him. Nesryn snapped her fingers a few centimeters away from his face to bring him out of his reverie. "H-Huh?" he asked as he looked around. "I've been calling you for 3 minutes now sir, we're here at my apartment"Nesryn said, looking at her boss, confused.
He let out a fake cough and looked away "Ah well, have a good rest, don't push yourself too hard" a subtle red-tint appeared on his cheeks as Nesryn raised an eyebrow. The driver got out of the car and opened her door, then getting her luggage from the trunk "Do you want to come inside for breakfast?" she asked, bending over to look at her boss.
The Playboy CEO turned his head fast and quickly nodded. "Let's go then" she then turned to the driver and invited him as well but he politely declined. She took her luggage from the man and started walking away.
Azriel immediately followed her, stopping at the driver to give him the company card "Buy your breakfast and come back here later" the man nodded and Azriel followed Nesryn inside her one-story apartment.
Her apartment was large enough to fit 2 people, having 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room. One of the bedrooms was changed into her personal office in the house, where she usually works on Azriel's emails and other stuff concerning the company.
Nesryn placed her luggage by her bedroom door, putting her long hair in a messy bun and immediately walked in the kitchen. "Please make yourself comfortable" she softly said, whilst putting on her pastel colored apron and rummaging through her cabinet.
Azriel sat down on the dining table and watched her from behind "Is waffles and scrambled eggs fine? I haven't had the chance to go grocery shopping"
"It's fine," he said, nodding. Nesryn immediately started working on the waffle batter then whisking some eggs. Azriel stood up and walked closer, unbuttoning his cuffs and rolling his sleeves up. Nesryn watched her boss as he washed his hands thoroughly "no offense but what are you doing?"
"I am gonna help you" he casually said, taking the whisk and bowl of eggs from her hands and started working on it. "I can do it sir" she protested, trying to take the bowl back. Azriel just flashed her a smile and took the bowl with him, walking back to the table. "I may always need you but I can do simple things such as whisking"
Nesryn didn't bother taking the bowl back and left her boss alone as she started making waffles. They were able to enjoy their breakfast 20 minutes later, Nesryn was unconsciously humming with a smile on her face as she took a bite of the waffles. Azriel was just eating beside her with an amused smile on his face.
