It was a sunny day, and six-year-old Lia Brentvale was on the school's playground, playing with other kids. Friday is her favorite day because her parents allowed her to stay longer in school. Her one-year-old brother Lorus was at home with their mother Laura. It was their father Allen who would take time to pick up little Lia.

The happy kid finally got tired of using the slide and the swing, and taking turns with other children. She approached Allen, who was surprised because it was earlier than usual. "Let's go now?" he asked his little daughter.

"Yep, yep!" she exclaimed. Her physical body got tired of playing with kids, but her mental state was still very active.

As Lia and her father walked on the sidewalks of the busy city, she kept on looking at every person that passed by. She was observing how they walked, what they wore, and how they looked. Some of them smiled at her, while some of them looked straight ahead. She was so curious why every person was different from each other.

"Dad," she said, tugging his gray t-shirt. When her dad looked at her, she asked, "Why do some people smile at me, while others do not?"

Allen chuckled at Lia's question. His little girl had always been asking a lot of questions about almost anything, and he's already used to it, "Maybe, some of them like children, or some were just in a hurry…" he explained.

"Why... do some people hate children?"

"Hmm… Maybe it's just because of their personality…" Allen answered, almost running out of answers. He struggled to explain, "Lia, everyone's born different. Even if you're related to each other… nobody's the same..."

Lia contemplated on her dad's sentence. She was trying to understand why her hair was dark brown like her father's and her eyes were deep blue like her mother's, while her brother Lorus also had their mother's deep blue eyes but he has slate blue hair. "Is that why Lorus' hair is different from me?"

"Yes," Allen answered the curious Lia. "He had the same hair color as your mother's dad… your grandpa."

"Why do I not see our grandpa?" she was wondering. Most of her classmates in school had their grandparents visit them once in a while, and she wondered why she had never met hers.

"Well… I'll tell you some other time, it's a long story," Allen didn't know how to explain their situation. How will he explain to his six-year-old kid that both he and his wife ran away from home? That he and his wife got married after she got pregnant? That they went to different places in the past, just to hide from their parents? It wasn't a normal love story after all. As he scratched his head, he switched the topic to a different one, "By the way, why are we going home early today? Do you not like the playground anymore?"

In the modern age of technology, most children were used to playing games on their parents' smartphones. But Allen and Laura wanted their children to go outside and play, to develop their social skills and to become physically fit and healthy. Allen was worried that his daughter might want to try to play games on his phone. He waited for her answer.

"I want to do something new," she said.

Allen knew that the time will come that Lia will get tired of playing with her few, other classmates. Besides, it was always the same kids who played with her, and Lia wanted more friends.

"I know," Allen said as he reached out his pocket to take his phone. He chose a name from his contact number and called, "Liss? Are you home?" he continued talking to her as they walked. "Yeah, we'll visit now… Okay… No, just for a while…"

While Allen was busy talking on the phone, Lia looked around and saw the sunset in between the two buildings, facing the road. On her mind were questions like, "Where does the sun come from? Why is the sun so big? What is the sun made of?" She wanted to ask her dad, but he was still busy over the phone.

Allen ended the call and faced Lia. "We're going somewhere," he said as he smiled at her. "I'm going to introduce you to someone."

The residential area where the Brentvale residence was located was one of the oldest in the city. The streets were linked to the main road, and unlike subdivisions, the area had no gates. Anyone is free to pass by the streets.

Lia's home is located in Block A, the one nearest to the main road. When they had already passed by, little Lia asked, "Where are we going, dad?"

"You're going to have a new friend," Allen said.

They went to Block C, where the Vayneseed residence was located. Allen clicked the doorbell attached to the small gate. Lissandra Vayneseed came rushing towards the gate, opened it, and said, "Come in."

The wooden door had chimes pinned to its front. In the living room was a sofa full of cushions, and it was where Lia ran over to. She jumped over it, when suddenly…

"Ouch!" a boy shouted. The poor blonde kid was under those cushions!

"Sorry!" Lia exclaimed. She didn't mean to hurt this boy, who looked sick with a face mask on. "Are you okay?"

And the boy's green eyes gazed into her deep blue eyes.
