The envelope weighed like a fifteen-pound dumbbell yet only looked as if a single letter is contained within. It is addressed to Ally, and she tried to open the envelope after dinner normally to no success.
The glue sealed the envelope so tight that Ally soon gave up doing it the normal way and brought the envelope up to her teeth only to get stopped by both Jon and Pethant who brought out a set of tools.
'This-is-sooooo-stuuuuupid...' Ally said, chucking the envelope on the ground as it landed with a heavy thud before the wooden floor cracked cleanly and was dented by the corner of the envelope.
There was an awkward silence between the trio before Ally looked over at Jon, who's the legal tenant of their house, with a teary eye and panicked expression.
'I-am-sorry!!!!!'
'I guess it can't be helped.' Jon scratched his head and picked up the strange envelope, 'S Prime people like to do things their way, and this stupid thing is no exception.'
'Master, why is it so heavy? I can train with this.'
'That functions as a sort of challenge for those they deem worthy, I suppose.' Jon said, placing the envelope gently on the counter before whispering something and slicing it up with the tip of his nails.
The envelope unwinds itself and revealed the content within. There was only one thing, a black business card with golden lining and writings all over with the communication information of one Essex Charles, a real estate agent of the Prime Time Realty.
Ally and Pethant brought their heads close and leaned over the card.
'This is our way in?' Pethant asked, and Jon nodded.
Ally was the one making the call, and Jon and Pethant were the ones feeding her the right kind of questions to ask and writing down the notes. A meeting was quickly arranged for Ally somewhere in S city where he will everything in person. It is only then that he will lay down all of the next steps for settling in at S Prime.
'In order to move to S Prime, we need to a credit check, power check and identification check.' Essex Charles said, throwing out pieces of paper everywhere on the table.
'I am afraid she doesn't have a credit history or registered ID.' Jon interjected before Ally can get confused, 'I am sure there are workarounds.'
'Well, a check from a spouse can also work.'
Jon looked over at Ally who's suddenly more excited than ever and sighed.
'Fine.'
'I have certainly seen stranger post-marital dynamics...'
'Don't start, Essex.'
Many chapters worth of administrative bullshit and form filling later, the trio is finally ready for their move. Ally, now married happily to Jon on paper, had next to no luggage, and the same could be said for Pethant, only a luggage-ful of his gym clothes and gym gear. He packed his cameraman armor tightly in a separate suitcase and brought it along with him. Jon doesn't have much to bring himself, so the packing didn't take a lot of time at all.
A shuttle is here to pick them up, and they were on their way through the vast empty lands between major cities in no time.
'Master, something doesn't make sense.' Pethant said, shoving his cameraman armor suit aside and poking his head out, 'if you have to match a heightened generation in power to be able to get in, does it mean everybody there is at this power?'
'No.' Jon shook his head, 'If you are born there, there is no requirement. But if you want to move there, there is.'
'What's the point then?'
'Every city needs people to maintain the hierarchy of things...' Jon said, 'we always need people to do the less...glorious jobs, and the only difference in S Prime is that strong people elsewhere are relegated to those jobs instead. Finding proper jobs will be our first priority when we arrived too.'
Looking down at this fists, Pethant realized once more the importance of his own strength. He was bailed out time and time again by Ally and Jon, and it's time to stop.
Once he gets there, he will get a gym membership immediately.
The shuttle continued to glide over the clouds, and far out in the distance below them are the various satellite cities of S city where more normal humans are living in. Then, there was the mountain range that was dubbed the Endless Mountains which acts as a blockade of sorts for the entire world. On the map, the Endless Mountains had nothing but continuous terrains of hills, cliffs and barren rocks. Though as the cloud began to disperse and the scenery began to show itself, there was nothing but a lush forest on the other side, nourished by the warm sun and the spring water from the peaks of the Endless Mountains.
The middle of the Endless Mountains isn't more mountains, but rather a metropolis! The city extended well beyond the limits of even Jon's eyesight as buildings filled the valley to as far as his eyes can see and more. There are skyscrapers linked with air rails, luxury townhouses positioned on top of office buildings, sky gardens and parks and many more.
The shuttle took a brief tour of the city, showing S Prime in all its glory before turning towards the airport and touching down gently.
Essex Charles was there to welcome the trio, and he called for a taxi shuttle which takes the trio all the way towards their house located near the outskirts of the city. The house is a three-bedroom studio with everything else shared, and it is located in one of the hilltops overlooking the skyline of S Prime. Compared to where they were staying in S city before, the condition is arguably worse.
'The utilities are self-sustaining in the unit, the keys are biometric, and everything you need will be close by.' Essex Charles said before giving the trio a quick salute and flickering away. From the speed and sharpness of his movement, there is no question that he was once a superhuman too.
Taking a moment to process everything that has happened, Jon sat down at the dinner table before taking out his computer and downloading a map of S Prime. The layout of the city is extremely interesting. The zones are designated with numbers from one to six, with zone one being the innermost zone and six being the outermost and they one they are located in.
Looking out of the window, zone six is all that they can see and far more, so Jon can only imagine the vastness of the city as a whole.
Strangely so, it appeared that only those with certain clearances are allowed into the inner areas, so all three of them here is only able to dwell around zone six. Quite literally the bottom dwellers of S Prime. From another simple search, clearances can be bought for a price or be granted through connections, and the trio has neither, since the currency used in S Prime is exclusive, and Jon's history here isn't exactly the most pleasant ones.
'I would be surprised if Freya and Imogen isn't in zone one...' Jon said, typing their individual names into the search box, and the results aren't exactly surprising.
When Freya left the note back in the resort asking for Jon to find her in S Prime, she was certainly not making things easy.
Letting out a big breath and closing up the monitors, Jon leaned back in the chair and thought for a moment. In the meantime, Ally has already taken the master bedroom and dragged both her and Jon's luggage into it. Pethant took one of the guest rooms near the back and the last bedroom was left untouched.
'Alright! We need to find jobs!'
'Jobs?' Ally asked, poking her head out from their bedroom, 'Can-I-still-get-paid-to-beat-people-up?'
'You...probably can.' Jon said, pointing his finger at Ally, 'did Essex give you any contacts to fighting agencies?'
Bringing up a hand, Ally showed Jon a holographic projection of a website showing a nearby sports agency. That should be fine, seeing Ally's professional fighting performance is what brings all three of them here.
'What about you, Pethant?' Jon asked as Pethant had already finished throwing all of his gym clothes into the drawers, 'what are you planning to do?'
'I will go check out the local gyms and see if there are any trainer jobs.' Pethant replied, 'I want to get stronger before picking up the camera again.'
'Good.' Slapping the side of his doorframe, Jon turned around.
'What-will-you-do?' Ally asked before she opened up Jon's luggage and started unpacking his stuff for him. If she does it quickly enough then Jon may be too lazy to move everything and sleep in his own room! Sleeping together is what a married couple does, right?
'I think I will try to find a cameraman job here...' Jon said, looking towards his analog electric camera as memories of his past started to well up inside him, 'I had some connections before, so I will go check them out again.'
With that, the trio's life at S Prime began. Now, it's time to get employed.
