"Dear diary, once again, it's a good and normal day to begin with and I wonder what it has in store for me..... "
I try every morning to start my day by visiting my diary and I know what you're thinking, what sixteen year old call it a diary? I mean, most people my age call it a journal, but I find it too formal for something.... personal so, I decided to stick with calling it 'my diary'.
"Kay, it's time for breakfast! " My mum shouted.
"Coming mum," I responded and headed for the kitchen.
I'm a normal teenage girl, Kaylin Hart, at your service, in a family of four. Mum, dad, I and my little brother Jayden, he's ten.
I rushed down the stairs as fast as I could so I wouldn't get on mum's bad side this morning, she's grumpy when she has to wake up early, damn does she love her sleep.
I got to the kitchen, greeted mum and sat on my spot at the eight seater dinning. I turned to dad who I saw reading a newspaper, seriously? Who still reads this crap when we have the internet?
"Morning Dad, how was your night? " I asked to get his attention, which is almost impossible when he's reading.
"It was nice sugar plum, " He replied, still not getting his eyes off the newspaper.
"Hey Jayden, come down, it's time to eat, " I called for my brother.
"Just a minute, " He said, before joining us.
When everyone was complete, mum served sandwich and bacons with orange juice and we dug in.
Breakfast finished earlier today, we weren't chit-chatting as usual, it's because we were all up last night. Mum wanted us to have our regular family movie night that we skipped on friday because she had to be with her best friend.
Aunt Opal went into labor, giving birth to her third child, Pearl, who I'm so excited to meet.
"Come on guys, we don't want to be late now, " Dad said, taking his car keys.
Jayden and I hurriedly cleared our plates, got our bags, kissed mum on the cheek and rushed out to get into dad's car.
"Umm, dad please can you wait a bit, I need to get my assignment, " Jayden said, looking through his bag.
"Hurry up or we'll be late, " I said, he scurried off and soon came back into the car.
"Phew, I would have gotten in trouble with my maths teacher, gosh, she's scary, " Jayden said, cringing.
"Why won't you? When you forget your assignment almost every time, "Dad said while driving.
"Dad, it's not my fault, whenever I'm done with it, I always assume I'd put it in my bag, " He said, pouting.
"Assumptions are fallacy, they take you nowhere, " Dad stated.
I just laughed at the scene and ruffled his hair.
"Hey! " He said, annoyed.
I brought out my headphones to listen to some music, which is a very significant part of my life. It has always been there for me since the beginning. Part being that, I was a lonely, strange child growing up, or so mum says.
Dad dropped us off at school, bade us goodbye and zoomed off to work.
"Now Jay, be good okay? I don't want you getting in trouble, " I told him, he does a lot of pranks and always get to see the red side of his teachers.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, " He said, before running off to his class.
I opened my locker to check my timetable for today, saw I have science class for first period, I grabbed my book and slammed my locker shut.
I was going to class when I heard someone scream my name. I turned around and there she was running towards me, my best friend Katherine Carter, or, as I call her, Kat. She prefers being called that because of her high reputation here in school as the Tasmanian tiger.
She's overly dramatic and very feisty too. I wouldn't like to get on her bad side any day. She's dealt with alot of guys, like literally, beat them to a pulp.
"Hey girl, I didn't think you'd actually pull this off, " She said, putting on a winning smile.
She had called yesterday to convince me to wear the crop top both of us got at the mall last Tuesday, we got our names printed on the back. Her's on mine and mine on her's. Honestly I didn't want to do it, but she was pleading and ohh well.
"Kat, you know this is irrational right? " I crossed my hands, feigning annoyance.
"Kay, it looks good on you, come on, smile for mama, " She elbowed my side.
"Alright, that's enough, let's just go to class, " I said, laughing. The bell rang and everyone hurried to their classes.

"Alright class, we'll be discussing refraction of light today, " Miss Williams our physics teacher said.
"Turn your text books to....." She started, but I could barely hear her.
I found myself in an alley. I could see nothing. All I could hear was the dripping of water from a corner. I placed my hand on the wall to trace my steps. I stopped, I could feel a presence behind me, eyes boring holes into my skull, I turned, nothing.
I heard a loud groan in front of me, I slowly turned my head and when I looked, I saw a figure of some sort. I couldn't tell what it was in the dark.
It came close to me, pulled my hair and dragged me with it. I tried to release myself from its grip, to no avail.
I heard whimpers around me and when I opened my eyes I saw light.
Before I could take in my surroundings, it pushed me to the ground. I struggled to find my balance and when I did, I stood. In front of me was the most grotesquely, abnormal creature, too horrid to be classified as a creature. I was revolted by its features.
I heard the whimpering again, I turned my head in the direction of the sound and what I saw made goosebumps rise on my skin.
I was terrified, petrified even. I was losing myself. I wanted to run. I needed to run, but my legs we're glued to their spot.
It made a gale of laughter.
I grimaced, it viscerally taunted me.
It was coming nearer, I needed to move, again, my body wouldn't budge.
"Stay away from me, " I said, looking for anything to defend myself.
"Not a chance princess, we're coming for you, " It said with every word coming out like venom into my system. It disappeared, but I could hear laughing in the distance.
Slowly, its laughter became faint and I wondered what it meant.
"Kay, Kay, wake up, class is over, " I heard Kat's voice.
I jerked up. I looked everywhere but didn't see the creature.
"Kat, what are you doing here? " I asked, wondering why she's in my dream.
"You can't be serious, we're in school remember? " She said with a raised brow, stating the obvious.
"Ohh, sorry, I must have fallen asleep, " I apologized and stood up, rubbing my eyes to see if I was still dreaming.
"Yeah, no kidding, captain obvious, " She said, helping to arrange my things.
"I'll meet you outside Kat, I need to umm..... " I scratched my head, trying to find an excuse, but none came to mind.
She looked at me strangely. Knowing her, she'll brush it off.
"Whatever, just hurry up, " She said and walked out.
I picked up my phone, searched through my contacts and dialed a number.
"Pick up, pick up, " I was anxious, pacing the room.
"Hey sweetie, how's school? I forgot..... " She started but I cut her off.
"Mum, it's becoming worse, " I said to her.
