Chereads / Demon Apocalypse / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Good luck!" Papa cheered from his car and drove off.

Here I was, standing outside of ADO's skyscraper. I was nervous and scared, can I do this? I was surely going to make a fool out of myself in front of my trained teammates.

I groaned, and made my way to the entry, while looking at the top of the building. But of course, I had to be my usual stupid self, and bump into someone, knocking both of us to the floor.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Are you okay?" I said as I rubbed my back.

I looked up to check who's the victim of my idiocy, which made me blush like crazy. He's gorgeous! He appeared to be around my age too, maybe we can become frien-

"Watch it!" He glared at me. His harsh-low tone, snapped me out of my thoughts.

He stood up, and dusted his clothes off with a frown on his face.

"I apologized, you don't have to be a bitch about it." I retorted, then got up from the floor, and left without giving him a second glance.

I was sure that I heard him scoff behind me, but I ignored it, and continued making my way to ADO.

So much for being friends!

I entered the building, it was huge and full of busy people. I went in the elevator and pressed on the minus three floor, as my dad asked me to do.

There door opened to reveal a wide training room, with targets, machines, and a boxing ring. There were five other people standing, talking with chef Takahashi, until the elevator beeped, and they all turned to look at me.

"How nice of you to join us." Chief Takahashi flashed me a fake smile, followed by an eye-roll.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world." I wittily replied as I made my way to them.

"There won't be much of a world left, if you don't take this seriously." He countered with an unbothered look.

The elevator beeped again.

Oh you have got to be kidding me. It was no other than the rude guy from earlier.

"Ah, finally gracing us with your presence." Chief Takahashi told him with the same expression he used with me.

The guy simply gave him a half wave, and walked towards us. He frowned at me in confusion, and I grimaced at him, making him shake his head then look away. That's when I noticed that chef Takahashi was watching us.

"Now that you're done with your little silent interaction, can we begin?" He asked us.

The guy shrugged, while I rubbed the back of my neck.

"Good."

"In case you didn't figure it out yet, the seven of you are the new demon hunters. Each of you possesses a different lightning color representing a color of a rainbow. You'll help our army defend the city, and get rid of demons, until the next blue moon, which is in five months. By then, you'd have perfected your powers, with the help of training, and demon hunting. You'll combine your powers, and blast the hell out of the gate. Any questions?"

We blankly stared at him.

"Okay, moving on...First of all, I'm gonna see what you're capable of. Stand in a straight line, and hit those targets. State your name, and your age before you do." Chief Takahashi clapped.

I made sure to stand last in line. I wanted to study every one of them, being alone for so long made me a very observant person. I can figure anyone out in minutes with the help of their body language.

"Hiroto Watanabe. Twenty." The first guy confidently stepped up. He seemed like a serious person, definitely obsessed with studying, a perfectionist. A person who depends on logic and numbers in everything he does. He took a breath, aimed at the targets. He hit two nines and one ten with his yellow lightning.

"Daito Yamamato. Eighteen." The second guy nervously said, tripping on his own feet. Nice, sweet, introverted, shy, awkward, clumsy, definitely had social anxiety. He blasted three blue lightnings, hitting three sevens.

"Himari Tanaka. Eighteen." The third girl said with a

wide, proud, smile. Definitely the life of the party, popular girl, guys' magnet, friendly, extroverted, can get along with anyone. She was the polar opposite of the previous guy. She scored a seven, an eight, and a ten with her red lightning.

"Kenji Hayashi. Nineteen." The fourth guy lazily walked forward as he yawned. The easiest to read so far, a dull, "whatever" guy who doesn't care about anything, always bored, or sleeping. Doesn't talk much, because that's how lazy he is. His green lightning hit respectively an eight, a nine, then a ten.

"Yui Goto.Nineteen." The fifth girl said. She was a little challenging to read. Intimidating emo girl who'd beat anyone who annoys her, dark, and indifferent. That's all I could gather from her. She took her positon, hit an eight and two tens with her orange lightning.

"Haru Nakamura. Eighteen." The sixth guy, the one I bumped into. I was shocked, the dude's an enigma. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't read him, and it bothered me. Well that's a first! He hit three tens with his indigo lightning, at an incredible speed, earning gasps and shocked expressions, even from Yui. Kenji had the same bored expression on his face.

"Sakura Suzuya. Eighteen." The seventh girl, yours truly. To say I was nervous was an understatement!

"Do I have to do this?" I asked with an innocent smile.

"No, you don't." Chief answered, relieving me. "You can go home too if you want, it's not like we're all gonna die or anything." He sarcastically continued.

I gulped and took it as my cue to begin. I raised my hand forward, then I let it down again. "But like, I don't know how to do it, I never-"

"DO IT!" Chief yelled with exasperation and I nodded.

I raised my hand again, and shot three lightnings.

One of them dropped in front of me as a sparkle, the second missed the target, and I got a one in my third try.

"Well...At least I hit it at the third try." I awkwardly said, averting my eyes from everyone, hiding my face with my hand.

"Yep. We're all gonna die." Chief stated with a defeated tone, everyone else just stared at me.

Someone shoot me please.
