Joseph woke up to the sound of a very soft voice of a woman. Her voice sounded so sincere and so kind, it kind of reminded him of his mother in a way. It was that same soft voice that would make him fall fast asleep as a kid. Right now, it's waking him up.
He found himself sitting on a wooden chair, in front of him was a round wooden table with table mats that have flower petals as their design. It was very old school, it reminded him of his mother again. She would always love those flower petal designs.
There was a blinding light on his left side, he covered his eyes with his hands to avoid that light. "Damn, shut down the windows for a bit. The sun's blinding me," he muttered. He could hear the soft voice again, it was humming something. A soft tune filled the air.
Joseph gently rested his arm, allowing his eyes to see the light in all its glory. What he thought was the sun shining its light through the window was actually a very bright lamp that was facing him. What he thought was his house was actually a dark room with only the lamp as its source of light. And what he saw in front of him almost made him gag.
Two dead bodies. Both were smiling, each side of their mouths were stapled to their cheeks to make it look like they're smiling. Oddly enough, Joseph couldn't help but stare at them.
He saw that one of them had a deep cut on his neck. The other one, a girl, got killed seemingly because of strangulation because of how her neck was very purple. Another odd thing that Joseph had noticed was that there was no blood coming out from both of them. Both of them were very clean. After a few moments, he heard a woman singing.
"My mother had always said that Love would find its way.
Hope for love to come and take your sadness all away.
I've been waiting all this time. Every minute and every hour.
But I could not find the love I hoped and my sweet sweet heart turned sour."
Fear worked its way up to Joseph's head and all he wanted to do was get out of there. He tried moving his hand but felt cold steel stopping him. He was handcuffed to a steel door handle that was attached to the table.
The singing stopped, followed by a silence that made the atmosphere even more creepy.
"You're finally awake, honey."
The soft voice of a girl echoed throughout the room. All Joseph could see was a shadow moving through the dark, it stopped right in front of Joseph, at the opposite side of the table.
"Are you okay, my love? Your face seems to be pale. Oh no, you're sick aren't you?"
The shadow stepped forward, its face was now hitting the light. Joseph could clearly see the face of whoever put him in this room. And she was very beautiful.
Joseph's fear almost subsided at the mere sight of her face. He stopped himself from saying "Wow" under his breath. But confusion soon replaced the fear that was in him.
"Who are you? Where am I?" was all Joseph could mutter.
The girl stared at her, confused just as he was. "Darling, it's me! Jessica, your wife." She put her hand on Joseph's forehead, trying to feel his temperature. Joseph noticed the ring in her hand, and he noticed the one in his hand as well. "Oh my, you're very cold."
"Where are we?"
"Dinner! We are at Dinner!" she exclaimed. Jessica put her hands around the two dead corpses sitting right beside her. "I think it's about time we eat with the family, yeah?"
Joseph definitely knew what he was feeling at that time. He felt that he should run away because this hot chick is going to kill him soon.
"Ding ding ding! Oh, that's the sound of food that's ready to eat!" Jessica hurriedly went towards the end of the room. Her giggles were all but heard as she was getting the food she wanted to offer to her husband.
Joseph took this time to find a way out of the handcuffs. He looked around the table, the ground near him, anything sharp that he could use to get the handcuffs off him. But his thoughts soon stopped him. The voice inside his head then started to speak.
"You can't get out of here." Whispered the voice inside his head.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it. My pills! How long have I been here?" he muttered to himself. "Not this again. No. My pills. Dr. Pink."
"You can't. You just can't. You can't escape from me. You can't ever be happy." The voice echoed in his head. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing. Just like what Dr. Pink had taught him.
"No one would ever care for you. You can never find happiness if no one cares for you."
Those words stopped Joseph in his tracks. The voice inside his head was right. Nobody really did love him for who he was.
At that moment, Joseph wanted to kill himself. Without even noticing it, he had also started singing.
"My mother had always said that Love would find its way.
Hope for love to come and take your sadness all away.
I've been waiting all this time. Every minute and every hour.
But I could not find the love I hoped and my sweet sweet heart turned sour."
Joseph remained expressionless as he heard the sound of clapping coming from the other side of the room.
"Wow, Johnny," said Jessica. "Your voice is so beautiful. It always was." She cried happily as she took a chair and sat down right next to Joseph. She put a plate, a fork, and a knife right in front of him. "I'm sorry dear, but this is all I have prepared." She said as she placed a piece of bread on the plate. "But know, that it's made out of love. You better eat it, or else."
"Honey, do you love me?" asked Joseph. His eyes remained focused on his handcuffs. His face remained expressionless. Jessica leaned closer to him, pointed a knife towards his neck, and whispered on his ear.
"Do you doubt my love?"
Joseph remained expressionless. He didn't flinch as he felt cold steel slowly puncturing his neck. Blood even started to gush out.
The crazed Jessica put down her bloodied blade and placed it back on the table. "That's what I thought, lover boy. Now eat what I made for you." She demanded.
"My Love," Joseph whispered.
"Yes Johnny, my love?"
"How can I pick up my fork and knife to eat the food you made if I can't even move my hands?" said Joseph in a mono-toned voice.
Jessica stared at Joseph, her face was filled with doubt. "You'll know what happens if you try to escape, right? My love?" She picks up the fork and throws it at one of the bodies in front of them. It went right through one of the bodies' mouth. Right through the smile.
"And why would I leave? What's out there in store for me? Why would I ever leave the woman that actually cares for me?"
Jessica's pretty face was wet with tears again. She began to sing once more.
"I've waited for eternity to find the hope I need.
The love that I've been waiting for! My happiness, can you see?
I sent mother to heaven and I hope she sees how neat
How neat this feeling is to me! My sour heart has now turned sweet."
Jessica turned to look at Joseph but was shocked to see that he wasn't there anymore. She noticed blood on the handcuffs were Joseph's hands were supposed to be and notices a finger sitting there. It was small, it was Joseph's pinkie.
She took Joseph's pinkie that he cut off, and threw it in a fit of rage. "Johnny! Where are you?!" she yelled and screamed.
Pain was bursting on Jessica's face as she hit the ground hard. Joseph was standing right next to her, holding a metal rod he found somewhere, his face still showing no expression.
"I pity you. You remind me of me. You remind me of my idiocy."
Joseph looked at Jessica, who was unconscious on the floor with little bit of blood on her head. Joseph wasn't sure if it was his blood or hers. He kneeled down and took a piece of Jessica's pink uniform to wrap around the area where his pinkie was once in. It hurt, yes. But it didn't bother him.
"Thank you." He stood up and left the dark room, leaving Jessica on the floor, crying.
Joseph saw that the hallways were in total chaos. Tables, chairs, even beds were littered on the floors of the hallway. An alarm was blasting out of the P.A. system. A red siren light was the only light source.
Joseph took turns and went through corners. Everything was the same mess, except that there wasn't anybody in sight. He eventually reached the asylum's cafeteria.
"River?" he called. "Juno?! Where are you?"
His arm was suddenly being tugged from under one of the tables. He was about to pull away until he saw that it was Juno.
She gestured for him to go under the table and not make a noise. So he did.
"Juno? What happened to you?" He noticed the blood gushing out from her forehead.
"Shuuushh. Not so loud!" She whispered.
"What happened?" He asked again.
"I don't know, things just went completely out of control. Everyone's going crazy out there!"
"Where's River?"
"That's the thing, chief. I don't know."
