- Roxie's POV -
I was escorted to a tower on the left side of the school with Beatrice. She took me to the entrance of the girls' dormitory, where it was on top of the tower building.
Everything looks pure in white, in a royal Victorian style. It's like a series of architectural revival styles in the mid-to-late 19th century. It still left me astounded by every design in this place.
Moreover, there are numerous gargoyle statues in several places on the top of the school building. In most cases, as far as I know, this ornament has the role of protecting buildings from water erosion by channeling rain and then spraying it onto the ground. It's kind of cool to have those creatures. Or the statues, whatever it is.
Then, we began to enter a high and very wide hallway with the pillars that support the building. We continued walking without speaking. And so, we stepped up on the stairs. Until we finally got to the corridor with a lot of doors on each side of the wall. These are the rooms, I think.
Beatrice and I then stood in front of a door and she knocked thrice.
"Girls, I have assigned a new roommate in your room. Please open the door and say hi to her,"
Not long after that, the door was opened, and it revealed four girls waiting in line to see me.
"Oh, hello there. What's your name?" asked a girl at the front with short white hair and front bangs, gunmetal eyes, pale skin, and a beautiful face.
"Well, that's for you four to figure it out by yourself. I'll leave her in your care. I trust that you won't harm this girl on her first day, won't you?" Beatrice raised an eyebrow intimidating at them.
One of the girls snorted, "Of course we won't, Madam Headmaster. When did we ever cause a ruckus to someone new?"
This time it was by a girl with a mix of black and blonde wispy bob hair, chestnut eyes, olive skin, a little bit tomboyish style, and pretty. She asked as she leaned a hand on the white girl's hair shoulder.
"I'm trusting on to your words, for now, miss Jessie, " Beatrice glared at the girl.
"Now come along, dear, I'll put your things inside." She said as she pushed me inside, breaking away through the four girls. She stopped walking and nudging me when we are inside the room.
There are four neatly lined beds on either side of the room. Separately, there are two queen-sized beds that lean against the wall. All the beds are also entirely furnished with white.
Beatrice then raised her hand once again and twisted her fingers in a circular motion. A big whoosh of air was heard as I see that my belongings are nicely placed near an empty bed that hasn't been touched by anyone else.
"Whoah, I could never get used to that. Thanks, Beatrice, " I said glanced back at her in awe of her magic.
Beatrice smiled at me, "No problem, dearie. I'm glad I could help. Now I'll get going, another busy day to come and you girls go back to your classes, lunch break is almost over, "
"Yes, madam Beatrice." They said in unison as they stood near the door.
Beatrice then walked to the door but halted, and she turned back around to look at me once more.
"My dear, if you ever need anything. Just go to my office, feel free to come at any time as you want. That's all I want to say, " she said then left the room without leaving a warm smile to me.
All four girls sighed in relief. I raised an eyebrow as I looked at them. I am confused, are they scared of her that much?
Then they closed the door and walked over to me hurriedly.
"Hey, so what's your name? My name is Jessie Imogen Mallory Kennedy, but you can just call me Jessie as other people did,"
She's the first one that came up to me rather close to my face, and I had to step back for a little bit. But I knocked my legs to the bed and resulted in me sitting on it.
"Jessie, you're scaring her, " glared the white hair girl towards Jessie. Then she turned her head and smiled at me.
"Hi, I'm Freya Lorelei Gwyneth White, but you can just call me Frey. I'd prefer to be called that way. What's yours?" She said as she bends down a bit in front me due to I'm sitting on the bed, quite short to her sightline.
"My name's Roxanne Elenor Victoria Walker, but just call me Roxie."
As soon as I gave out my name, they all gasped in surprise. Freya raised her body again, holding her mouth.
The girl that sat on the edge of my bed asked first, "Are you the great Elias Walker's daughter?" Asked the girl with long straight black hair, honey eyes, fair skin, cute looks, and slanted eyes.
I raised an eyebrow, confused as to why they called my father as great.
"Yeah, that's my dad. How do you know about him?"
"How do we NOT know about him?! He's a Ki- mmm,"
The girl had not yet finished her sentence, and Jessie had already closed her mouth first. I was wondering what she was going to say.
"Livy, we just promised to the headmaster we wouldn't talk about this matter yet. There are people who are hunting her and we should protect her at all costs. By that means, we shouldn't let her identity get known around the school."
Jessie whispered in Livy's ear loudly. But everyone in this room could hear what she was talking about.
Freya sighed and did a facepalm, "Idiots, " she muttered and shook her head but all of us can still hear it.
"Hey, so, umm, I know about the people hunting me down thingy, but hiding my identity? I just knew about it, " I asked as I take a look at them one by one.
"Well, it's madam Beatrice's request to us before you came along here. Exactly before the school's lunch break. She's concerned if there are spies around the building. It was a precaution. So she asked us to protect your identity until the 'coast' is clear," A girl said with a long blonde wavy bob, beautiful looks, sea-green eyes, fair skin, and in a casual outfit. She stood at the end of my bed.
I nodded slowly, trying to make sense of her words.
Then she continued, "We also wondered who would be the daughter of Elias Walker, and once we heard your name, it kinda pieces together with your appearance. You look very similar to him. He's, umm, really well known to many people around here,"
I noticed that they were all wearing casual outfits. I'm guessing it's for the next classes. I guess the school here doesn't require wearing a uniform. Another plus point for me.
"Oh, okay, " That's all I can say in response.
Then, she walked to me and extended her hand while smiling, "I'm Skye Evienna Roberts, call me Skye for short. Nice to meet you, Roxie,"
I smiled back, took her hand, and shook it. "The feeling's mutual, "
Then, we let go of our hands, Skye went to her drawer and put black gloves on her hands. And then the girl who had her mouth covered by Jessie came to me.
"Hi! I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Olivia Josephine Morganna Edwards, just call me Livy. I'm half Asian. My parents are mixed, American-Japan. Well, just saying in case if you're wondering."
She said smoothly while she was flashing a smile. As if it was easy to show the identity of oneself just like that.
"Oh, I see. That's cool, " I said quite interested.
"So, what else? Hmm, oh! Frey, explain all the school rules to her here, " Jessie said as she fans her hand to Frey, urging her to do the explanation. Although, Frey doesn't seem to like the way Jessie told her to.
She kept glaring at Jessie as she crossed her arms, "Why don't you do it instead?"
"But you explain it the best than all of us, "
"Hey, we could explain it to her too, you know, " said Skye did not accept Jessie's statement.
"Yeah, " Livy also joined in.
Jessie sighed in defeat. "Alright, alright. Anyone can explain it to her. The floor is all yours, " said Jessie, inviting them lazily.
"Alright, let me go first. The first rule here is to never EVER make eye contact with the popular boy's group. They don't have a name for their gang, which is sucks. One thing's for sure is when you look at them, they're made up of hot and handsome boys. It's an undeniable fact. But don't stare at them, they're Crown Princes to their respective kingdoms. They're not just anyone. And if you did stare at their eyes, make sure you pray enough to be able to get out of their grasp,"
Livy explained dramatically as she squinted her eyes at me.
"Okay, okay, I got it. I'll find out soon once I see them, " I said, not caring about those ridiculous rules.
"No, don't see them! Avoid them, Roxie!" Livy shouted fearfully.
"Alright, alright, that's enough Livy, " Jessie said as she patted Livy's shoulder. Livy then pouted at Jessie.
Skye walked over to me as she sat beside Livy on the edge of my bed.
"The next rule is to avoid the 'Barbie' gang if you ever meet them in school. They're practically like Mean Barbie's but I know you've found a way to defeat them before, " Skye said as she smiled knowingly at me.
"How did you know?" I asked curiously.
"I could vision someone's past through the touch of their hands, or skin to skin. I could also foresee someone's future but I haven't been able to upgrade my power to that extent, " Skye shrugged.
"That's interesting. Is that why you're shaking hands with me to confirm my past?" I guessed.
"Yes, sorry about that, " she said with an apologetic smile.
"Is it also the same reason why you're wearing a leather jacket and gloves to avoid touching other people's skins?" I asked while pointing to her clothes.
She nodded while smiling in reply.
"Oh, cool. So what are the next rules?" I glanced at them one by one eagerly waiting to hear the next things I should avoid.
"Basically, that's it. Another rule from the school is don't be late to come to the classes, don't go out till midnight, don't go to the boys' dormitory, don't sneak out from the school. That's pretty much it. Besides that, you're a free nugget, " Frey explained as she shrugged.
"That's not so bad, " I replied.
"Not really, if you avoid one of the school rules. The guards will force you to obey them. If you're acting stubborn, then they will bring you to the headmaster and only God knows what she will be doing for those stubborn people, "
Jessie crossed her arms as she shook her head, thinking about it.
"Alright, I guess that's all for now, we need to go back to our classes," Frey said as she began to head over to the door. While waiting for the others to catch up with her.
"Oh, right, I almost forgot about that, " Livy sighed, and she walked over to the door and stood beside Frey.
"Roxie, do whatever you want here. We'll get back to you once we finished our classes, " Skye said as she also followed the others.
"Don't worry, for your schedule and everything, we'll accompany you tomorrow for it. Well, since tomorrow is Friday, that means we'll do it before the tournament - or I'll just get your schedule myself, " Jessie planned, then began to walk also.
"What tournament?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows, knowing nothing of the events at this school.
"It's a tournament to test how far your abilities can be, or rather how powerful you are by using your power. it's kind of like a practice for all us, " Frey explained from the doorway.
"Don't worry, since you're new, you'll be able to watch it on the sidelines with us. It's not our time to get up there anyway, " said Livy smiling.
"Oh, that's a huge relief," I said, holding my chest, looking down.
They chuckled. I looked back at the four of them who had already opened the door.
"You're funny. Alright, let's go now girls. See you soon, Roxie," Frey said one last time, waving her hand at me, then walked off with the others following her from behind. They closed the door when they walked out.
I sighed, 'I'm alone again, "
I looked around the room for a while, then moved to get my stuff out beside the bed.
I think I'm going to spend time organizing my stuff here and thinking about what's going to happen tomorrow.
