The warehouse wasn't creepy at all. Not a bit. It was quite interesting. There was a large wardrobe right in the middle of it. Dust and cobwebs hung everywhere. It was explorer's delight. I loved it. There were shelves filled with ancient books. To the right, there was a humungous wooden grandfather clock. It had stopped ticking a long time ago.
"This is so cool" I mumbled.
Everyone agreed.
Suddenly, a huge thud came from nowhere. It scared the living daylights out of me.
It was Jean. He dropped a book by accident.
"Sorry" He mumbled. The book was lying open on the floor. He went forward to pick it up. An ancient script fell from within. Keeping the book back on the shelf, he picks up the script. The four of us gather around him. He read aloud:
The Key, inside
It was written in the most beautiful cursive ever. The swirls and loops were fascinating.
"Inside what?" asked Addy.
"It must be in the book itself!" exclaimed Jerry.
Jean quickly finds the book and opens it.
"It isn't here"
I look at the book carefully. I notice that the spine was a bit too thick.
"The spine!" I exclaim.
Jean tried opening it. The spine came off like a breeze. A note and a beautiful key fall out.
I pick up the key. "We found it" I mumble.
Naz picks the note up and reads it aloud:
The Key opens the trapdoor
"We have to find a trapdoor" Naz whispers.
Everything suddenly starts getting exciting. This was like a mystery waiting to be solved.
I spot a wooden box at the extreme right corner. "There's a box" I point out. Jerry opens it.
"It's full of old scripts and books," he says.
"Move the box!" Addy exclaims. Jerry tried to move it. It wouldn't budge.
"Together!"
The five of us push the box forwards. Under the box, was the trapdoor.
Jean pushes the key inside the lock that was carved to it. A chain appears.
"What," we all say in unison. It was Magic.
"Magic," I say. Everyone looked stunned.
"I'm going to pull the chain," Jerry whispered.
He pulls the chain. The trapdoor opens. Everyone is silent.
Then, noises. A heavy wind blows and the trapdoor starts sucking Jerry in. Sucking all of us in.
We all screamed. There was nothing to hold on to. Instinctively, we all hold hands. I knew that if we're going anywhere, we're going together.
We all get sucked in and the trapdoor slams shut. We all start screaming.
We were falling. Down. Down. Down.
I saw a light far below. I was grasping Jean's hand with my right hand and Addy's with my left. I held them tightly. The five of us hold hands and form a circle. The light was getting closer and closer. Everything started was in slow motion. I look at Addy. She blinks, tears falling down her cheeks. I look at every one. We're clearly falling to our death. Jean looks at me and whispers something. I can't figure it out. My mind was in a blur.
"We're going to hit the ground!" I say. And that's the last thing I say before I pass out.
I knew the warehouse was a bad idea from the start.
