Chapter 4 - Signore Ferrai

"Did he meet her again Nonno?" Igor perked up in his seat drawn to the words that bypassed his grandfather cracked lips. "Well if he didn't Mimmo there would be no story would there?" The frail man questioned as realisation passed through curly locked boy's features.

The wooden door creaked open as Signore Antonio snuck into his fathers workshop. He hesitated, taking light feathery steps careful not to awake the sleeping giant. He knew his father wouldn't be happy if he saw him come home at this hour of the night and Signore Antonio wanted to avoid his fathers wrath.

So sneaking into his own home like a thief was his only substitute.

Signore Ferrai was waiting for him though. Splayed out in his infamous armchair the blacksmith had been keeping his eyes latched open by the game on television. Something he had just purchased at the store the other day. Although all that was on it was black and white images of full grown men kicking a ball around like puppets, or so that's how Signore Ferrai saw it.

Just as Signore Antonio hung up his heavy winter jacket the lights switch on. Blinded he reached up one hand to shield is eyes from the light. Signore Ferrai was not impressed.

"Ragazzo ignorante e vergognoso, quante volte devo dirtelo?! Prendi quella testa se le nuvole e sii uomo! Lo qiuro se torni a casa tardi e rovini ancora il tuo colloquio di lavoro.."

Now don't get me wrong Signore Ferrai wasn't always this temperamental, but ever since Marie left things haven't been stable. Signore Ferrai blamed her disappearance on the boy that stood before him. Everything was perfect before that bambino came along.

The fact Signore Antonio was seen as the town's mostro didn't help either. Especially when he was trying to get the ragazzo out of his house. But to do that, the boy had to get a job. That was why he had sent him to all those interviews earlier that day. Nothing seemed to work however, sometimes be wander if there was something wrong with the ragazzo.

I mean when Antonio was a child Signore Ferrai had taken him to many doctors but all of them said their was nothing physically, mentally or emotionally wrong. He was just a weird kid.

Signore Ferrai didn't want to except the fact that his figlio was the town's mostro, so he reverted to rejecting the ragazzo all together.
