On my usual weekday morning, I'd wake up to a herd of maids storming into my room with their endless choices of new dresses, shoes, and accessories.
After my morning routine was complete I ate breakfast with daddy, followed by a very boring test for every subject. Never mind that, where was Isaiah after lunch?! That damn kid was nowhere to be found at our hangout place. Whatever At least I get to hang out with Faye today.
"Princess, Let's end classes here for today. Your personal mage is here for your training." Professor Luca announced as he took off his glasses.
My face lit up with joy.
I closed the heavy book that lay on the table.
I jumped off the chair excitedly and walked up to the open library doors.
A thin, cloaked figure presented itself next to the tall guard.
Faye removed her hood and smiled.
"Are you ready for your training, Princess?" She questioned as she bowed in front of me.
I nodded and followed Faye into the imperial garden.
"Ahh... Faye, shouldn't we be somewhere… less fancy? Being in the imperial garden seems a bit… close to the imperial palace…" I questioned timidly as I looked around in confusion.
"It is our first session, Princess. Take a seat. Before we continue, I need to assess your mana and ability first. I will also ask questions periodically throughout the session to develop a successful training plan for you." Faye explained with confidence as she crossed her arms.
Why does this sound like a trainer during their first gym session with a customer?
"Also, his majesty seems to have a few trust issues and he chose this spot. Something about… keeping an eye on me, or something like that. I was not paying attention when he called me in earlier." Faye sighed as she shrugged her shoulders.
I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Did he call you in before our session? Jeez… he has no chill. Trying to intimidate or threaten a child is a bit too much, dude.
"Sorry about my dad… he… puts on a tough attitude but I can promise you, he means well." I tried explaining as I scratched my head, looking away with embarrassment.
"His majesty only shows his concern and love for you, Princess. No need to apologize. See? Look over at that window on the second floor. That's commitment." Faye replied as she stretched her arms in front of her in a nonchalant manner.
I slowly looked at the imperial's second-floor windows, examining each one. To my surprise, I saw daddy, staring at me with his arms crossed, standing tall in front of his office window.
Dude… what kind of horror movie is this?
"How did you know…" I questioned in shock.
"Well, your dad is almost 2 meters tall. It's like trying to ignore a tree in front of you. It is impossible to pass over. Most importantly, let's not forget that I am a mage. We sense moods, feelings, and auras from far away. His aura at the moment is… well let's say I can feel the heavy pressure from a mile away."
"Haa! it's not like you are a boy, Faye! If you were a boy, It would have been a huge problem. HUGE PROBLEM! I am sure he is just worried since it's our first training session." I laughed in a teasing manner.
Faye looked at me and her eyes grew in size. Her mouth opened up slightly and cleared her throat.
"Me… a boy? What a silly assumption." Faye replied nervously, avoiding my direction.
I tilted my head in confusion.
"SO… Princess, let's get started. My first question is, when and where did you experience your first awakening? Tell me in detail about the setting you were in and what you felt, what you saw, etcetera." Faye changed subjects as she snapped her fingers.
A calligraphy pen and paper floated in the air, in front of her as she crossed her arms.
Dude... I cannot get used to this. Can all mages do this?! Can I do this if I am trained well enough?!
"Pretty cool, huh? This is one of the first spells we learn in the academy. Quite useful too." Faye sat in mid-air, crossing her legs.
Wow… you literally are defying every law in gravity. Isaac Newton would have a heart attack if he saw this right now.
"All mages have strong mana, only a handful of mages are born with abilities, similar to the imperial family's abilities. I happen to be one of them. That is why I was personally selected by the imperial mage as a candidate."
"Your ability is…" I questioned.
"Teleportation. But enough about me, Princess. When and where?" Faye sighed as the floating pen began to tap on the floating paper.
"Ahh.. well… It happened before my 6th birthday. I'd say a...month ago?" I pondered as I looked at the fluffy clouds in the sky.
"A whole month since your awakening and you are JUST getting assessed and trained? What kind of neglect and… hey, are you even the princess?" Faye questioned in disgust.
The floating pen began to write against the paper aggressively.
"Ahh.. well… my daddy was… at war during this time… and my daddy's chancellor had very little authority on this situation…" I replied in a timid, low voice.
Why does this little kid sound frustrated with my response? Not my fault I am in this position.
"Ugh… whatever. Good thing your mana is weak right now. Otherwise, it would have killed you in an instant. Better late than never... Anyways, what time did it happen? Details, Princess. DETAILS." Faye pointed at the palm of her hand with sass as she looked at me with a cold expression.
Okay first of all kid, I am eight years older than you… in another life. Second, this attitude needs to go. Thirdly, not to be THAT person, but who are you talking to? Did you forget that if anyone heard you talking like that to me, your head would be flying?
I closed my eyes and sighed.
"It was nighttime. Nothing out of the ordinary happened before I drifted off to sleep. I felt a huge pain in my chest and I had a hard time breathing. My vision was instantly blurry and I felt a bit nauseous as well. I do not remember much after that. I woke up to the sound of Hansol, and the imperial mage. I do not know for how long I was asleep." I explained as I focused on a flower bush nearby.
I looked over at Faye out of curiosity.
She nodded her head, with her finger over her mouth.
What is that damn floating pen writing about? I feel like I am in wizard therapy or something.
"Did the imperial mage say anything to you?" Faye questioned.
"Well… Once I woke up, she demanded that I'd be left alone with her. She said something about how all the imperial family members have their own ability and a color aura. Mine… is white.' I continued to explain.
"White? Your aura? Pfft…yeah.. sure… any changes in your body after your awakening? Any headaches? aches or pains over your body?" She rolled her eyes.
I furrowed my eyebrows and crossed my arms. 'You'?What is that supposed to mean?
"Nope.. just daily frustration. Any other questions?" I answered with an attitude.
Faye smirked at me as she stared at me with her bright- golden jeweled eyes.
"I can fix that temper of yours as well. Free of charge." She teased as she leaned in, as she rested her elbow on her crossed leg, laying her chin on the palm of her hand.
"I can fire you, and hire another mage… one with a fixed temper too. Free of charge." I attacked with a smile on my face as I copied her body language.
