"Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to make your way up to the gazebo?" Daddy smiled as he walked towards the top of the stairs.
I smiled and quickly walked up the gazebo's stairs while I raised the corners of my dress.
"Careful, and mind your steps. I already had to save you once from death." He teased as he stretched out his hand in front of me.
I sighed and grabbed his hand.
"The moon is so pretty and big tonight!" I said with joy.
"Do you know the story about the sun and the moon?" Daddy questioned as he looked out, leaning his body against the gazebo's railing once again.
"I know the story about the moon because of the Moon Festival, but there's a story about the sun too?" I questioned as I looked up at daddy.
"There are actually two festivals in the year. The Moon festival is held in the Fall season, the Sun festival is held in the summer season. However, the Moon festival is favored more due to the legend." He began to explain.
"But why is the Moon festival desired more if we need the Sun too, daddy?" I asked.
He looked down at me and smirked.
Daddy picked me up and walked down the stairs into the imperial garden's brick path.
"We have three gods and goddesses that made our earth. The god of war, the god of wisdom, and the goddess of nature. The goddess of nature had the biggest role out of the other two gods. Her goal was to find a way to make the world a better place with food, water, and other sources. The goddess of nature created two demigods: The sun and the moon. With this, there was finally life on earth." Daddy continued to explain as he walked slowly with me in his arms.
"The sun, a male demigod, worked for twelve hours a day, and the moon, a female demigod's worked the other twelve hours. Both worked without ever seeing each other until one day, the sun grew curious and decided to work over his desired time frame. That is when he met the moon demigod. Legend has it that the sun and the moon fell in love immediately after they saw each other. Due to this, the sun decided to work more and more, causing the moon to work less, giving the earth more daytime than nighttime. It was to the point that the sun and the moon were both in the sky for many centuries, causing an imbalance to the young earth. The goddess of nature grew impatient and punished both lovers from seeing each other ever again. However, the sun grew angry and rebelled against the goddess of nature. Little did they know that his anger caused the earth to nearly explode due to its high heat. All of earth's nature went in flames- leaving earth an unlivable place for the future humankind." Daddy paused and looked at me.
"But the sun and the moon, they just wanted to be happy together. So why did the goddess of nature punish them for love?" I questioned.
"Everything in this world has a purpose. Whether it is a god, demigod, or human - we all have a job that we must fulfill whether we like it or not. The sun is only needed for a certain amount of time, and the moon is needed for hers. This world needs order, the same reason we need rulers in charge of their countries. Without order, there will be chaos." Daddy explained.
"So what happened to the sun and moon? Did they actually stop seeing each other?" I questioned once again.
"Of course. It was their punishment." He answered as he placed me down.
I looked down on the stone floor as I nodded my head.
"So that is why everyone greets you while including the sun and moon. But why stars?"
"Each star is a past life. When one dies, we become a star. Quite silly, is it not? When I was your age, I used to laugh at this legend. It is all but a child folktale. Make-believe nonsense." Daddy replied.
As silly as it sounds, It is a lovely legend.
"So… daddy, you are the sun… right?"
"According to the Giodivonian's silly story, yes. The emperor is the sun, the empress is the moon."
I looked at the tall, lit tower from far away and tugged at daddy's hand.
"Daddy, who lives there?" I questioned as I pointed at the tower.
His expression grew cold and stiff.
He bent down to my level and placed his large hands on my shoulders.
His green eyes slowly turned crimson red.
Damn… I pissed him off. He is going to kill me. I shouldn't have mentioned anything.
"An evil possessed witch lives there. She has red hair and red eyes, like a demon. If she ever gets near you - you run like hell and come find me. She is a horrible person. Avoid her at all costs. If anything, I will personally choose your mage to… train you soon." He sighed towards the end as he looked at me.
"Oh… the imperial mage, you mean…." I replied nervously.
"According to that… witch, you had your awakening. True or not, this situation cannot be helped. Soon, you will be training with your personal mage. Understood?" He questioned in a harsh voice.
'Wow, I can choose my own mage, daddy?" I questioned with a smile on my face.
"Absolutely not… are you out of your mind?" He replied as he stood up tall, looking down at me with a disgusted facial expression.
'But…"
'I said no…."
'Daddy, please?"
"... Stop it…"
"I love you so much… But, I would love you more if you let me choose."
".... It better not be that damn red-headed witch or a male mage! Understood?!" Daddy sighed heavily as he placed his hand on his forehead and his other hand on his waist to signify frustration.
