Chapter 85 - Calling

Xavier began to pace back and forth with his hand covering his mouth.

"Perhaps… the imperial mage got her information wrong! But, let's not stress about it much! I am certain the princess is just fine! From what I read, she had a fall during the night. But, she seems fine now!" Ezra tried to explain as he anxiously looked at Xavier pacing.

"No… this is nonsense. Pure nonsense. She is far too young. There is no logical explanation for a child her age to have her awakening this young. Our father had his awakening at the age of ten. That is the youngest age in history! That crazy bitch must have lost her mind! How dare she assume the child had her awakening! To assume is one thing, but to mock the imperial family?! That… that wench was with the child… Out of all the orders I gave that bastard, he breaks the one damn order I am most serious about! Hansol is dead!" Xavier yelled as he continued pacing.

Ezra gulped in panic.

"Let's calm down and think logically…."

"Think logically? This damn, filthy witch is trying to use that child's false awakening to get close to her! That damn venomous snake has been wanting that child since the day she was born! Do you not see what the problem is here?!" Xavier interrupted with crimson-like eyes.

"I… I do not seem to understand… If the imperial mage grew curious and wanted to get to know the princess herself, is that not a blessing? No one has ever gotten trained by an imperial mage… maybe… we should…." Ezra's voice cracked from the nerves. He walked back slowly to avoid being hit by Xavier's throwing habit.

"You damn fool. That crazy bitch is out for blood. She always has been. Ever since… we were young." Xavier explained as he brushed back his hair with both hands.

Ezra stared at Xavier walking towards the lighted fireplace, waiting for his next move.

"Get that worthless apprentice mage we brought along and have him connect me to that witch bitch. I need to have a word with her at once." Xavier said in a demonic voice as he watched the flickery flames.

Ezra nodded and quickly left the office.

Xavier quickly looked at the french doors, waiting for the outsider's announcement.

"I have the mage, your Majesty." Ezra stated through the small crack of the door.

"For fuck sakes, did you have to fetch him from Giodivonia or are you that slow, Ezra?!" Xavier yelled from his office desk.

The door opened abruptly, followed by the mage and Ezra walking in.

"May the sun, moon, and stars shine brightly upon the Giodivonian empire!" Bowed the mage.

"Enough! Did you bring the damn communication device?!" Xavier yelled.

"Y...yes, your Majesty. I have the communication ball. Let me get in touch with the imperial mage for you." The mage replied with fear.

As he placed the communication ball on top of the empty lounge table, the ball quickly turned a foggy white, slowly changing colors.

"The imperial mage should be receiving the connection. Please wait a moment." The mage explained as his voice squeaked with nerves.

The room grew dead silent.

Ezra knew what was going to happen next if the imperial mage did not pick up soon. He watched Xavier's patience running thin by the second.

The ball turned clear.

"Am I a fucking joke to you, mage?" Xavier leisurely walked up to the young mage, leaving less than a foot away from each other. Crossing his arms, he looked down at the trembling young man with his crimson-colored eyes.

"I… I am terribly sorry, your Majesty! Please spare me! Let me try again! Please!" The young mage fell to his knees, begging and crying.

"Look! The ball is foggy again! Is this a good sign!?" Ezra questioned with excitement. Hoping it would distract Xavier from harming the poor mage.

The young mage's eyes glowed with hope as he nodded quickly.

"It's the imperial mage! She is calling us!" The young mage replied as he quickly crawled to the communication ball to answer the call.

"Are you connected to her?" Xavier asked in a suspicious, calm voice.

"Yes! She is now connected! Please take the call, Your Majesty!" the young mage trembled in fear as he handed the communication ball to Xavier.

"Both of you leave me. I need to have a few words with the imperial mage."
