"I need to occupy my mind with something. This was the exact equation I struggled with last time. Let's try to figure it out." He mumbled to himself as he stared at the mathematics book.
Hours went by. Xavier tilted his head up at the ceiling and sighed. He placed his chalk down and dusted off his hands against each other.
"Finally… done."
"Ezra, can you come in for a moment?" Xavier said as he laid down on the lounge sofa.
Ezra peaked his head out from the french doors.
"I said to come in. Do you want to irritate me?" Xavier said as he covered his eyes with his hand.
Ezra came in and shut the door behind him. He noticed many crumbled pieces of paper on the floor and a large chalkboard covered in numbers.
"Are you that stressed, Your Majesty? It seems like you finally solved the equation you had a hard time solving last time." Ezra said as he walked towards Xavier.
"Stop with the formalities. You know I hate that when we are alone. Pour me a drink before you have a seat." Xavier commanded.
As Ezra walked up to the wine bottle and glass, he took another look at the fully used chalkboard.
"You surprise me at times, Xavier. Not even Hansol likes mathematics this much, and he was number one in his university. What exactly made you this stressed to solve an equation in one night?" Ezra questioned.
"Just bring me the wine already Ezra, you look much better when you avoid talking."
Ezra rolled his eyes and sat down on the sofa as he handed him the filled glass of wine.
Xavier sat up and received the drink.
"When was the last time you drank water, Xavier? If you keep this up, your blood will be made of wine." Ezra said jokingly.
Xavier glared at Ezra with his famous demonic expression.
"Perhaps if there were no idiots like you around, I would not have to rely on liquor to remain sane." Xavier replied in a snarky attitude.
"Besides, it helps with my headaches."
Ezra crossed his arms and laid back on the sofa. He tilted his head and stared at the mural painting on the ceiling.
"Do you remember when father had the imperial painter paint this mural just for you? You would constantly be upset that it would always rain when you would step outside. What a creative painter. These clouds look so real. Even your room ceiling resembled the starry night. I used to love that ceiling." Ezra said as he stared at the mural.
Xavier stared at the wine glass as he reclined on the sofa.
"Yes… I remember. It would always rain when I would step out; I used to visit my father daily in this office instead. That is when he decided to bring the sunshine to me."
Xavier looked up at the ceiling, remembering his childhood all over again.
"While it rains when you are outside, it is always perfect weather with the princess. Strange. If you ever want to go outside and enjoy good weather, you should have the princess nearby. Just a suggestion, though." Ezra said as he popped his neck.
Xavier released a huge sigh as he laid back down.
"Ezra…" said Xavier, covering his eyes with his arm.
"Yes?"
"... Nothing... It's nothing. You can leave. I am going to take a short nap."
Ezra nodded and left.
"Why are people always lying and deceitful to me? Can I trust people? I feel like the little trust I had for the ones around me is starting to fade away. If it weren't for you, my life would be much bearable." Xavier mumbled as he buried his hands in his face.
