Months turned into years. Today, I turn three-years-old. Luckily, the psycho's chancellor was chosen to be his regent while he was gone. That meant that our monthly budget had a massive increase. That being said, the chancellor requested for my audience. I never had the opportunity to meet the chancellor. However, from what I heard, he is the first cousin to the imperial family and is very loyal to the emperor. He is extremely strict and known to be a perfectionist. Aside from the emperor, he is the 2nd smartest in the nation. Jeez. He sounds uptight. I wonder if he's anything like uncle Ezra.
To be honest, I'm terrified. This is my first time leaving the tower. I have not touched grass or flowers while living in this tiny body. What if I have an allergic reaction and die? That can happen, right?
"It's time, Princess. Let's go meet the chancellor. Just look at this weather! It is the perfect weather and on the day of your birth! You received a wonderful present from the Giodivonia Gods. But oh dear, that reminds me. Do you know it always rains on his majesty's birthday? Poor soul. That is a bad sign from the Giodivonia Gods, you know?" Marina blabbed on as she carried me down the stairs.
She opened the door gently. My eyes began to squint. Ugh so bright.
"Here you are, Princess. I will put you on the ground, okay? You must get used to the outside ground." Marina said as she placed me on the floor.
I looked around the outside surroundings for the first time in this life. This is breathtaking. Even in nature parks back from my home world were nowhere near as beautiful as this. The sky was baby blue, full of fluffy white clouds. The sun shined gently on my face. There were at least sixty different kinds of flowers displayed in front of me—Rose bushes to lilies, all ranging to size and color in unison.
Luckily, I learned how to walk a while back, so I was able to comfortably walk on my own. As I looked around, A tall figure appeared in front of me.
"So this is the famous tower princess everyone is talking about."
I looked up in confusion. Oh shit. This must be the chancellor—that crazy man's trusty sidekick. I have to be on my best behavior. I quickly plucked a flower from the flower garden next to me and reached out to him with a smile.
"For you!" I said with enthusiasm.
He raised an eyebrow in confusion as he looked down at me. He then chuckled and bent down to my level.
"Why, you are the most beautiful and interesting little emerald I have seen. You are the spitting image of his majesty. There is no denying that fact. My my, this is uncanny. Is this for me, Princess?"
How dare you say I look like that rotten piece of trash. Okay, okay, calm down. Remember, this friendly man changed our monthly budget. Thanks to him, I can have yummy desserts and books.
"Mmhm! Here!" I smiled once again.
He looked into my eyes with such an alluring glare. It is as if he can read my mind. I tilted my head in confusion.
His eyes grew in size. He blinked a couple of times and smiled.
"There is a rumor spreading around the imperial grounds, but it does seem they are correct. You are special, as they say. Thank you for the flower, Princess. Do you mind if I carry you to the flower garden? I would like to get to know the princess."
I nodded, and so he picked me up and made our way to the flower garden. He seems like a nice man. Well, at least from what I have assumed so far.
"Considering the imperial's chairs and table are too tall for you. How about a picnic?"
I smiled and nodded.
When we arrived, a grand buffet of delicious food was spread out on the picnic blanket. We were under a large tree with a significant amount of shade. My eyes grew, and my mouth watered.
"Go ahead and eat whatever you want, Princess. It is your special day, after all."
"Tank you." I tried my best pronouncing my words carefully, as I smiled at the man. I sat down in front of him and began eating.
"You are only three-years-old, and you are already more mature and well-mannered than your father. What a sight to see. You know, Princess, I am ashamed to say this. But I must confess. I have had a close watch on you since birth. I made sure I knew every little thing you did in terms of your first words, your first steps. I know how it must feel not being around others. I know that Ezra has seen you in secret too. He mentions only the best of you, Princess. He is often seen as a stern and scary man. Many fear him just the same as they fear his majesty. However, he is as gentle as a lamb with you. I can see why. You are charming and...unique."
What is this man blabbing about? Can I eat my cookie in peace? You need food in your mouth. Maybe then you can shut up and let me be.
"Cookie?" I offer as I hand him a cookie.
He laughs out loud as he throws his head back in reaction.
I tilt my head in confusion.
"No cookie?"
"My my, what a glorious day. The Giodivonian Gods are in your favor, Princess. I can sense their love and trust for you. Firstly, we have this grand day with perfect weather; and this sweet angel is now offering me food. This feast is for you, princess. Enjoy."
So. Is that a no? You don't want the cookie? Fine. I'll eat it then. But I am curious, as where is my uncle is at? When is he coming back? I miss that man.
"Ezra? Where?" I questioned as I continued to eat my cookie.
A sense of shock went to the chancellor's face.
"My my… You are quite an advanced child. Do not worry, Princess. Your uncle will be back soon, along with your father, the emperor. You know, Princess, I am your family too. I am your father's cousin. That makes us cousins as well." He said with pride as he fixed his collar.
Who cares? I don't even know you, dude. But why do you keep mentioning that trash? Did you forget that he was going to kill me right after I was born? How can you call him my father? I rather have a bug be my father than him!
"You know, I can read your mind, Princess. No need to be so fearless with your words."
Excuse me? You can read my mind? Pfft. Yeah right. Yeah, and I'm princess Diana.
"Who is princess Diana? Is she from another country? Perhaps from one of the books, your nanny reads to you at night?" he smiled.
HOLY S%#T. WHAT THE F*CK?! Did he seriously… just read my mind? Oh, no, no... Lucky guess.
I put down my macaroon and looked at him, and smiled.
"Funny, funny!" I chirped with a smile.
What a lucky guess. There is no such thing as mind-reading. Whatever, I will continue eating my desserts and sleep.
"Why, there is such a thing as being able to mind-read, Princess. I am sorry to disappoint you. However, it was not at all a lucky guess. Once you get older, I will explain this to you. However, let's end this here. It was a pleasure meeting you, Princess. I must say, I am intrigued to know more about you. I cannot say I am fond of children. However, I will make an exception for you. Please visit me anytime.' He requested as he stood up.
He called for my nanny and left with his assistant.
What a strange man. So... he can read minds? Crap, I have goosebumps. Does this place give people magic powers? Does everyone have some sort of ability? Is it like one of those fantasy books like Harry Potter, where everyone turns out to be witches and warlocks? This is scary. All of this is messed up. I need a nap. Forget it.
Marina told the maids to collect the rest of the food items from the picnic, and we headed back to the tower.
"Did you have a good time with the chancellor today, Princess?" said Marina as she gently bathed me in the tub.
"Mmhm... nice!" I said tiredly.
"The chancellor is quite young, around the same age as Erza and his majesty. However, he is the most mature out of the two. He is quite the scholar, you know. Ahhh, he is so handsome too! He is just my type!"
Ew. Can you stop daydreaming about your crush and finish bathing me, lady? I am full, and I am tired. Take me to bed already.
