Chereads / Within The Sunflower Fields / Chapter 2 - The Woods

Chapter 2 - The Woods

Her body felt light like a feather, skipping through the woods and passed the singing of birds. Aurora, with her basket in hand, knew she was close. She had gone down this path millions of times, so nothing was new to her. Yet, she kept the same smile on her face. The soft dirt ground helped her jump higher well skipping. When the sunflowers finally came into view, the sun was starting to set. Deciding that it is much too late to water all the sunflowers, she heads inside to make herself dinner.

Tonight's dinner was a fruit salad, made with the fruits she had grown over the past few months. Placing down her basket on one of the wooden counters, she slips her shoes off and gets to work. Lucky for her, the blonde was on the rather taller side of the height spectrum, meaning she would reach the taller selves. Grabbing down a bowl and a cup, she grabs the jar of fruit and pours it into the bowl. The brown-eyed girl makes strawberry water with her meal. As she sits at the table, she thinks of the next day's chores and so on. The strawberry blonde, would care for the plants and so on in the morning and make a pie in the afternoon, a flawless plan! Excitedly, she finishes her meal and washes up her dishes. Soon, the moon was mostly up. So, she cleans around the house before ending her day with a calming shower. Aurora lights a lantern outside the cottage, you never know if someone needs a place to stay at night or is lost.

Flopping onto her bed, her eyes start to shut. The young girl would snuggle with a pillow for comfort, the night became darker and colder as she fell deeper into sleep.

The fire on the match burned brightly in the darkened woods, Blake lit a lantern. She has almost finished the job, just a few more and she would be on her way. The cold air caused her to be able to see her own breath, she didn't dress right for this, but a job is a job. Everywhere around her felt damp, Blake hated every moment in these woods.

It became too late to even try and go back, so she made camp up in a tree. The brunette didn't sleep, rather she was taking a short break. She already knew that damn bartender was going to try and ruin her reputation by saying she was too scared and left the village. Blake could hear the laughs of taller and more masculine men, how dare they look down on her! She is Blake fucking Bradly! No one ever fucks with her and lives to tell the god damn story!

With that, she fell off the sleep.

Morning came, and Aurora was ready for the day's tasks. Before breakfast or even getting ready, she goes and waters the plants, which takes an hour. She comes back inside the cottage and showers once again and changes, making herself breakfasts she was almost ready. When she got around to cleaning it was about eleven-thirty, the blonde washes down the counters and chairs. Carefully, she makes her bed and re-fluffs her pillow. Next, she handles the floor, she hand scrubs it clean.

Before, starting her pie, she makes herself a small lunch. And like that, she was ready for baking.

Falling, Blake was falling? Before she could think anymore, her body hit the soft dirt ground. Not the ideal way to be woken up, but there she was. She lays their for another few minutes before getting up. When she does, Blake grabs the logs of wood. Time to prove some motherfuckers wrong! The deeper she went into the woods, the more she worried she was lost. If she was being honest, she didn't want to spend another night in these woods

The faint smell of apple pie catches her off-guard, was that the village bakery. Finally, she felt so close! Or so she thought, yes she made it out of the woods, but now she was in a sunflower field. But, the smell of apple pie became stronger, so she followed it. It leads her to a small cottage, the door was open alongside the windows. That is where the smell is coming from.
