Chapter 12 - Lingering Threats

Alex pov

Everything went on as scheduled, the speeches and food, everything was simply perfect. Lia seemed to be having a lot of fun interacting with her workmates though I felt jealous of the way some pricks looked at her lustily, something she had no idea of.

My naive beauty.

I hated the way they seemed to be undressing my love with their eyes. If I wasn't the CEO tonight, I would have beaten them to pulp.

Nobody was supposed to look at her except for me. But then I couldn't also blame them for looking, my pants were getting tighter by the second, thanks to miss beautiful. I had to focus elsewhere first.

I had to focus on her security first instead of killing those pricks, but I had to admit that just looking at her was enough to turn me on. The way that dress hugged her breast and hips, bringing out everything that only I could touch.

I thought of my between her beautiful sound cancelling tits, her left tit was my favorite, and I think she already knew that. The way they felt in my hands, so soft and tender, the way they felt on my mouth, with my tongue playfully drawing circles and teasing her.

Her moans of pleasure as my fingers slowly traced her abdomen, my lips adoring her body, reminding her just how beautiful and heavenly she was. The way she arched her body up that always had me fighting my iron-clad self-control so hard, but she was also a tease and I could only think of the things this beauty always did to me.

Her dangerously full lips were a sight, I could kiss her any moment, claim to the world she was mine and later on teach her to know she belonged to me.

Oh, man, I really need to focus and I already have a hard on, dammit.

I looked over to where she was and saw her smirking. So my love thinks my agony is funny. I really had to focus through the party no matter how hard it was.

After this, I was definitely going to show her what payback meant.

As the party crossed to an end, I saw one of them, and then three popped up and that is when my anxiety levels hiked, but I had to think straight and not do something stupid that would put us all I danger. I knew why they were here. They came to warn me and Ryan to ensure to pay up and as they had initially threatened to down my empire, I was so sure they would do just that and nothing less.

Good thing is Lia was far away from me at the moment. I was so sure they were not bluffing. But for now, she had to go home.

Third-party (pov)

After so long, the connection was evident. The pieces of the puzzle were finally coming together and there was no denying it. Even though Crius knew he had a brother, he was not aware that Alex was his brother.

Well maybe after tonight he would get the hint, which was a doubt since he did not complain when his father introduced his as a friend's son. It was either that or Crius did not want to cause trouble, something that seemed to follow him and his father more often than not. But Lia knew.

She finally pieced everything up and they now made sense.

Seeing the night drawing in and some of Jay's men got Alex worried. He decided to let his parents take Lia home whilst he stayed. His crappy excuse of staying to sort out things with the investors was bought by everyone except Lia. She knew something was wrong, but she was too tired to argue with Alex so she just listened and forced herself to go with Mr. Garner.

When Mr. Garner knew the relationship Lia had with Alex tonight, he was sure that she had hopped from Crius to Alex because she wanted to teach Crius a lesson on how to treat women, really sad.

Seeing Mr. Garner tonight reminded Lia so much of the relationship she had with Crius.

Of the times when everything was okay until nothing was okay no more. Of the beautiful memories they made together and the cute moments they had together until dear Crius decided his hunger and lust was more important than the love they had.

If ever what they had was love and not a conquest to pass time. But maybe Crius messing up was something good, because that very night she found herself a good man. The man she would fight for till her last breath, the man she would support and love without condition.

The only miserable yet funny fact was how fate got her from one brother to another in the name of love.

Maybe love was a curse, maybe love was an illusion, maybe all this was just some drafted plan, but whatever it was, Lia had vowed to have it with Alex. For her, he was not a knight in shining armor, Alex was her lifeline, and without him, she was sure her beautiful life would be meaningless.

But then that's how life worked. One moment everything was on a downward spiral and in the next, the good followed. Maybe the universe had plans, but whichever plan it was that led Lia to Alex had to be the best plan ever, because, with him, she was whole.

With Alex, Lia had no reason to cry to bed, she had no reason to fall asleep and have nightmares, she had no reason not to be thankful to the stars. Because whatever this was, was her destiny.

Something she would fight to keep, but if only life wasn't a blank page that needed to be filled, she would have foreseen everything.

If only.
