Chapter 25 - South Ivy Dorm

Zane swiped his school card against the campus shuttle. The door of the small car opened and Zane entered. A table appeared in place of the car's control with different destinations optioned. Zane selected a residential area.

Hundreds of names appeared and he clicked South Ivy. South Ivy had only 20 buildings. Zane pressed on number 14.

Earlier, Lexi had sent his resident address to him. South Ivy Dormitory Hall 14, Apartment number 4.

The light in the shuttle shone blue and quickly took to the air. Zane leaned back and enjoyed the ride. The shuttle soon entered the residential area and Zane could see towering buildings. The further down and the buildings began to get lower and less clustered. The shuttle soon entered the compound.

The courtyard of South Ivy Dormitory Hall 14 was large and beautiful. Tall palm trees with luscious leaves were paramount. Rich fruit trees and trimmed flower hedges decorated the entire compound bringing about a serene splendour.

In the middle of the compound was a two-story building. Its appearance did not lose to the beauty around it.

Zane took a deep breath, feeling refreshed. As expected of the most expensive dormitory in Amherst.

The door to the shuttle opened and he saw Lexi bowing slightly. So punctual. He wondered if Butlers had a skill that warned them if their masters were returning home.

"Young Master, your dorm is this way."

Zane nodded and followed her. His dorm apartment was on the first floor. The South Ivy dormitory had a total of six apartments, 2 apartments per floor. This was as luxurious as you can get in Amherst that had thousands of students.

The moment he entered the dorm. The warmth in the room made him relax. It was the end of January and the weather was cold. As a fake warrior, he did not have the physical attributes to fight against the cold. The cheap campus shuttle did not have any buttons for temperature control.

Lexi took his coat and hung it carefully. She followed behind him as he took an account of the house.

"Young master. If I may report.." She looked at him, her gaze was clearly asking for permission.

"What is it?" The apartment was larger than he had thought. It had a bedroom, a balcony, a kitchen and a living room.

It was also exquisite with quartz countertops in the kitchen and bathroom, a warm wood-style plank flooring.

Zane went into the living room and sat down. His buttocks sank into the soft velvet sofa, his feet getting warmed by the thick shag rug.

Ha! After getting used to such comfy and luxurious life, Zane was not sure if he could go back. There was a plate of fruits on the table, he casually picked one and started to nibble on it. Lexi was getting more thoughtful.

"Young master. There are two important people of interest currently living in this same building."

Zane lifted his brows. Important people of interest, he believed that he had never heard Lexi use that word before.

It was quite unfortunate that a person of interest to her might not be a person of interest to the Gnosis system.

"Continue." Well, what matters, in the end, is whether he, Zane was interested or not.

"The first person is your eldest cousin, Young master Ronan Valois." Lexi said with a viciousness Zane did not know she possessed. It was almost as if she was asking if she could poison him to death.

Zane smiled. Like that was possible. Zane was sure the hidden guards in this small building were up to 20. The heirship of the Valois family was firmly contested by two people.

First was Xavier Valois, his lovely younger brother. The former only son of his father. He is backed by the current family head and his people. Though not known by many family members, Xavier is firmly backed by Aziel Valois, the old family head. Zane personally has always wondered about the reason.

He had a system so he could view Xavier's potential. In the diary, His grandfather did everything possible to ensure that Xavier gets the seat of the family head. Does his grandfather know something about Xavier that he does not know?

However, Xavier still lacks support among the grassroots members and branch families of the Valois family. He is cold and gloomy plus he never gives them face. In return, they did not give him face either.

The second person was his eldest direct cousin, Ronan Valois, Robert's elder brother. If his uncle, Charles did not die, Ronan would be the uncontested young heir. But heaven is fair. The amount of people that felt that Andre killed their beloved Charles Valois is much higher than those that did not. Unable to touch the family head, they could only throw their support behind Ronan. It was precisely the grassroots and branch families that were Ronan's support. Some of the elders also supported Ronan. He was steady, decisive and an incredibly talented leader.

Zane did not hate this elder cousin of his, he had never even met him. He just felt that it was a little unfortunate...

"I can't wait to meet him. Who is the second person?"

Lexi was amazed at how calm her young master is. She believed Zane was even better than both young master Ronan and young master Xavier. She couldn't wait to assist him till he becomes the family head.

"The second person is the Seventh Prince, his royal highness, Prince Phoenix Alder."

Zane burst into laughter. He could not control it. What are the odds? What are the chances? His luck stats were really powerful.

Who was Phoenix? Apart from himself, Phoenix was the most mentioned person in the diary. A close friend that saved his other self from suicide, pulled him from the depths and helped him without asking for anything. It was odd and incomprehensible to the current Zane, especially the feelings of closeness he had towards this person he had not even met. Even Xavier did not invoke these emotions in him.

He had thought he would have to search for the prince. The situation, after all, was different. He did not enter the combat division, he did not awaken a mage combat class, the possibility of being in the Prince's party was incredible. To think that it would turn out like this.

Lexi watched him laugh and felt like he was considering using the seventh prince, "Young master, the Seventh Prince is not favoured, Sir"

Zane nodded, "You are right. He isn't favoured" If he was favoured, would he be sent to the Alliance for a diplomatic exchange?

Everyone knew that the power of a leader lies mostly in his followers.

Phoenix awakened a leader class, sending him to a foreign nation would just cripple his power base making it harder for him to contest for the throne. However, in the diary, only one word was used to describe Phoenix.

Genius.

Zane could not wait to see him. He would probably be tall and stern with straight eyebrows and a heroic aura

"This seems fun. Lexi, I need your help."

"Anything. Young master"

Zane inclined his head, his voice turned low and serious, "Lexi, I need you to go to Revlon."

Lexi's eyes widened. As someone raised by the Valois family, Zane's rejection hurt more than it would any ordinary butler.

"Young master, What am I doing wrong? Am I not needed anymore?"

'Not at all. Your presence does not allow me to harvest points comfortably.'

He gave her a disbelieving look, "Did I not say I needed your help? Don't think too much. I just entered the Valois family and I have a lot of plans for Canary. You are the only one I can send to take charge of the matters there. I will give you the documents required as well as enough money to carry them out." He was a rich kid now, he also did not have a habit of spending money so he had a lot of capital.

Lexi gave him a solemn bow, "Young master, I will do my best to make sure all your plans come to fruition."

'Yes, please make sure. It would be best if you can stay in Revlon for at least six months.'

Lexi could see a hand on his shoulder. It was Zane's hand. Zane kept his hand on Lexi's shoulder as he made eye contact with her.

"I trust you."

Lexi could feel the weight of Zane's hand clenching her shoulder. He could feel the weight of Zane's words being transferred over to her.

Her young master had not been in the Valois family for over two months. However, Lexi believed in him. His carriage, his kindness, his behaviour. He was just like the family head. She wanted to do her best, she wanted to help him achieve his dreams. She wanted to repay him for his trust in her.

Lexi's fists were clenched, her eyes were focused and she had a look of resolution on her face.

"I will never betray the young master's trust."

Zane's expression turned odd. It was as if something had gone awry.

"Hmm...Sure" He smiled.
