Iko

"The new subject 10902 seems to be doing well in its encasement. No signs of the disease. If symptoms show then I will notify Doctor Erma."
Iko sighs as she closes her holographic voice log that was attached to her wrist. She took a glance at the new subject that was trapped in the box-like encasement. The shimmering glass-like wall which was harmless to Montherian would give an intense pulse of electricity to any other species.
Subject 10902 seemed to be a Dirk but looked as if a giant boulder grew a face, fell off a cliff, and proceeded to do that again. Overall the new subject was not a sight for sore eyes. The new subject was lying on the cold metal floor, fast asleep from all of the tranquilizers that were shot into its body.
Suddenly a calm and cold voice that Iko could recognize anywhere broke her thoughts
"Any signs of the disease Iko?"
"O-oh Doctor Erma! I thought you were across the ship in your lab," stuttered Iko.
"I was but I wanted to make sure the subject was... Perse, alive."
"Yes, Subject 10902 is safe inside the cell. They can't harm any of our own."
"Good work Iko. Though I must say your hair has quite a bit of dirt and a couple of sticks in it," laughed out doctor Erma.
Iko's face flushed different shades of pink to red as if her face were a sunset. Her purple and blue eyes darted around the room as she tried to think of a witty comeback but before she could open her mouth Doctor Erma had left. Iko sighed and went back to looking at the new subject. Thoughts of Doctor Erma's short pixie-cut blond hair went through her mind. Her hair did suit her ivory skin and her dark blue eyes looked like the galaxy that surrounded the ship, but she shook those thoughts out just as quickly as they came.
Iko began to walk away from the cell, her mud-covered boots clicking on the metal floor as she walked. The cold corridors of the Signa were empty as usual, Iko stopped momentarily at one of the windows that showed the galaxy surrounding them. They were currently in sector 0124. Her favorite, mainly because of how vibrant the colors and stars are. The flashes of blue, violet, and green always reminded her of parties or birthdays, always happy occasions. It was rare to find a sector like this, most were either just a single color or just colorless altogether.
She began walking down the corridors to her room so she could shower and change or maybe just get some sleep. Iko walked down the cold corridors, her mind wandering back and forth to thoughts of Erma and thoughts of the mission that she had just gone on. After a few minutes of walking Iko finally got to her room. She lifted her I.D badge to the sensor, Iko sighed, this always took longer than it needed to.
After a couple of seconds, her door retreated to the sides giving her access to her room. The room had light gray walls that were bare, a plush white carpet, a black desk that had a few books stacked on it, and a massive mug that was filled with hot chocolate that morning, and her bed that had at least 15 blankets on it. Each was a different color but the one on top and honestly her favorite was a fluffy gray blanket that smells like lavender. The bed also had a single stuffed animal, it was a panda, Iko didn't know what a panda was but it was rather cute. Its white and black fur was so soft and comforting to Iko, she yawned and glanced at her clock.
"Oh crap, it's already 3:50 am? I need some sleep."
Iko stretched her arms and walked over to the bathroom. Quickly she undressed and got into the shower to clean the dirt and other things out of her red hair. While in the shower Iko just let the steaming hot water fall onto her back and drip down her arms until it fell from her fingertips. Doing this made her feel a little bit childish but it also made her feel like some type of water god or mythical creature from all of the stories that she was told when she was younger. After Iko finished washing her hair and body she turned off the water flow and jumped out of the shower, grabbing the nearest towel as fast as she could before she could get too cold. Iko dried off her body and tied another towel around her head and then proceeded to put on her old pajamas. They had a black background and they also were littered with tiny yellow smiley faces.
"I need to stop wearing these old things. I would just die if the crew saw me in these," smirked Iko at the thought of being seen in her old pajamas instead of her regular black crew uniform with green stripes around the base of her neck, wrists, and feet.
Iko walked out of her bathroom and shut off the light and then slowly walked over to her bed. Iko slowly dragged her feet over the soft carpet until she reached her bed and quickly checked to make sure her alarm was ready for the next morning. Iko casually lifted the fluffy gray blanket and proceeded to crawl under, she reached over onto her nightstand and turned on her small fan. She didn't need the cold air to sleep but rather the sound. If a room was too quiet it was hard for Iko to fall asleep and stay asleep. The sound of the fan turning helped Iko to slowly relax until she began to close her eyes. Iko began to drift off into slumber with the thought of what might be awaiting her in sleep and the next morning.
