Chapter 1 - Prologue

THE PAST

This alternate universe is separated into four kingdoms.

The Kingdoms of Basilica, Ferandia, Goll and Pya.

Long ago, the Dark Wars wrecked havoc on the planet, in hopes of possessing the Rose of Aris, the creator of all magic, good and bad. This would lead to one kingdom being the dominant power, the one being able to control all the other kingdoms with unlimited magic. However, these wars had no ultimate winner. For when they reached the lone island of Wyatt, which was the middle of the Aukai Ocean, it vanished.

With that unexpected outcome, the wars ended, treaties were signed and towns and villages were rebuilt. Magic was prohibited among the commoners since the royals could not risk anyone else finding the Rose of Aris and be able to use it. No one spoke of the cursed plant again, since like its namesake, it only caused ruin and war.

Centuries have gone by, and no one has spoken of it, one could have even said that it was forgotten.

But nothing truly evil ever leaves for good.

(Somewhere in the fabric of time)

Beautiful.

Yet dangerous.

Scarlet wrapped itself in her petals while the lush emerald of spring seeped into her proud stem. Water from the midnight shower was being drawn into her vessels giving her life as she greeted the dawn with her charm and grace.

She opened up to reveal a myriad of different shades of scarlet petals that sat as a prominent crown on her slender frame.

She was magnificent to behold.

The luminous star continued to rise until it claimed the midday, making the delicate petals cast shade over her stem, hiding the subtle yet still very apparent thorns.

This rose was welcoming to the eye, but if you made contact, blood will be drawn. At night, her sharpened blades were known to pierce through souls and drain the life source out of the inhabitant.

She was elusive yet obvious.

Concealed yet flaunted.

Somewhere in the valleys of Paer, now appeared the Rose of Aris.

So alive, she was almost a creature; a constant reminder of what was, is and will be:

Rebecca's haunting legacy.
