"Heavenly Skill: [Fly]"
{Tier-Four Heavenly Skill Unleashed. MP remaining 92%}
The monotonous voice spoke up again inside Shadow Breaker's mind. For some reason, he felt relieved.
This voice never spoke up when he used the other class skills, instead only appeared when he used the Heavenly Skills.
Shadow Breaker didn't know the reason behind that, and he didn't have any luxury to think about that right now.
Using his angelic wings, he flew towards the slums.
{Caution advised, mental stability of the user at 40%}
The voice spouted some unfamiliar terms again, but Shadow Breaker didn't mind that.
"Auroraaaaaaa" he yelled as he landed hard on the ground near the fire.
There she was, fighting three demons with her father. Her father was using his precious butchering knife to repel the demons, while Aurora kept healing him.
Aurora's father was clearly exhausted. He was breathing roughly, his whole body was drenched in sweat.
"Aurora... Run..."
"No, I can't do that, dad!"
"I'll pay for my sins with my life..." her father replied with a smile as he cut down the demon slashing at him. The second one soon took its place, again attacking him.
"If you are a sinner, then everyone in this world is too! You can't do this!" Aurora cried as she kept healing him.
"No... I meant my sins to you..."
"You have done me no wrong, dad!"
"No... I was the one who kicked out that cat you brought back home... And the one who beat that brat who proposed to you earlier... I also ate your precious limited edition chocolate cereals cause I was hungry..."
"You know what, you are the worst."
"Gah!"
As this heart-wrenching scene played out in front of him (heart-wrenching in a lot of ways), Shadow Breaker leapt into the fight.
"Heavenly Skill: [Holy Sword]"
{Tier-Seven Heavenly Skill Unleased. MP remaining 28%. MP seriously low. Avoid battles.}
As the voice spoke up again, a gleaming sword materialized in his hands. It had told him to avoid battles, but Val couldn't listen to that advice.
{Hmph.}
Did the voice just... say hmph?
Val wanted to ask the voice, but he had more pressing matters in his hands.
Without hesitation, he cut down the first demon from behind. The other one noticed him, but was too late to react.
However... As Shadow Breaker's sword buried itself deep in the demon's chest, it swung its sword down on him.
Shadow Breaker couldn't dodge it. As the sword came down, he thought that it was over.
But.
Someone crashed with him, sending him flying. Shadow Breaker fell down on the ground, and looked at the man who saved him.
Aurora's father was standing there, the demon's sword buried deep in his shoulders. The wound was clearly fatal.
His knees collapsed, and he fell down into the pool of his own blood.
With another sickening laugh, the demon itself fell down beside him, dead.
"Nooooo!"
"Father!"
Both Aurora and Shadow Breaker rushed to him at the same time, and kneeled down beside the dying man.
"Aurora... I'm sorry... For eating your cereals...." he placed his bloody hands on her cheeks, and she clasped it in her hands.
"It's... Alright..." Aurora replied, sobbing.
"So... You forgive me?"
"No I still haven't forgiven you but..."
"Gah..."
He then turned to Shadow Breaker, and smiled.
"Val, take care of her. Don't make her pregnant before she turns eighteen."
"No, I promise I won't... Wait you know my true identity?!!"
"Er... Yeah? Both of us know."
Shadow Breaker looked at both of them, and they both nodded like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Then suddenly the man started coughing, and blood came out of his mouth.
"Wait... You can't die yet! The author still hasn't decided on your name and backstory!" Shadow Breaker panicked, spouting some nonsense from his mouth.
"Heh, it's fine... I'm just a background character anyways..." The man, who's name the author still hadn't decided, let out a smile for the last time.
Then he closed his eyes. His breathing came to a stop.
"Father!" Aurora hugged his corpse, crying.
Shadow Breaker quietly wiped his own tears away. But they didn't have any time to wail and cry.
"Come on, we need to move."
Shadow Breaker grabbed Aurora's hands, and pulled her up. He held her close in his arms, hugging her tightly as she kept crying. Then with a flap of his majestic wings, and flew up to the sky.
As he rose higher and higher, he gradually saw the whole capital below him.
It was a big mess. Fires had broken out here and there, declaring the ongoing battles between the humans and the demons. The streets were dyed red, and corpses were lying here and there.
Then he noticed the sudden fire starting in the castle courtyard. Using his enhanced vision, he looked down at the two figures standing in the middle of the fire.
One was Charles. His attire was beaten up, and his ragged breathing showed his exhaustion. His magnificent royal clothes were burned here and there.
Simply put, he looked awful.
However, the other party didn't even have a scratch on them.
A gleaming silver body that stood out at night, lustrous black hair that fell down their waist, two gigantic horns poking out of their head, his appearance screamed demon alright.
He was one of the ten Heavenly Kings under the Great Demon Lord, Gorloban.
"Charles! You need to save him, Val!" Aurora spoke the obvious in a panicked voice.
"Yeah, I wanted to go to the park to play with the ducks, but I'll save him cause why not?!" Val replied as he descended at an amazing speed.
"Hmph." Aurora cutely pouted.
They were both actually scared. Scared, depressed and worried. But if they let that get to them, they'd be crushed, right there and at that instant.
Shadow Breaker couldn't fall here. He had to fulfil the promise he did with Aurora's father.
That was, of course, the first part included.
Shadow Breaker crashed down in front of Charles, and stood with his sword bare as if to protect him. Aurora rushed to Charles's side to heal him.
"Charles, wait, let me heal you..."
But Charles put up a hand and stopped her. His eyes were glued to the back of the hero in front of him.
"Shadow Breaker-sama... Then Val..." Charles looked at Aurora, then turned to Shadow Breaker again.
"Yes..."
"I see..."
(So he finally realizes it... Huh...) Shadow Breaker thought as Charles kept looking at him.
He stood up with shaking legs, and sighed.
Both of them thought at the same time.
(So Charles knows my identity now...)
(So Val is dead now...)
However, their thoughts were far from being on the same line, let alone the same page or even the same book.
They weren't even in the same universe.
